You're telling me that Nigerians just started traveling out of the country when your saviour lost election? Are these people sane like this? Should insane people be allowed to vote?
How is losing election a topic here now?
So we can't criticise govt again for their failures ?
What if that person voted Tinubu?
God deliver u all from stupidity

Illegality is not an excuse for perpetrating another illegality
They are trying to divert attention from the murder case.

According to them:
1. He likely paid the owner of the car....

Then they admitted again that:
2. He was hired by the owner of the car....

It is a silly press release from whoever did it.

Satlat wasn't on Bolt's books.

"It added that the late foreign national had illegally used the profile of another driver, a man identified as Wiseman Makobe."

"On the day of the incident, Mr. Makobe completed the required verification process, after which Mr. Satlat operated using that profile. This constitutes profile sharing."

"Profile sharing is strictly prohibited on the Bolt platform. It undermines passenger trust, compromises safety, and violates our agreements with drivers."
That's exactly what I'm saying. They are protecting themselves from any kind of lawsuit or claim against the company by revealing that they had no legal relationship with him. But his smart compatriots here can’t read between the lines. That’s the disadvantage of an informal economy.....reasoning operates at this level . To them it's personal; not a cooperation protecting itself from scrutiny and accusations .

Who is trying to divert the attention from the murder ; South Africans or bolt the non-South African company?

I won't be surprised if the defence lawyers try to use this point to get a softer sentence for the accused people

South Africa is the No one enemy of Nigeria in d world.
Unfortunately, I don't know why...
No. The number one enemy of Nigeria is Nigerians, both at home and abroad. And lastly ,Nigerians and South Africans do not like each other ,it's not one sided. But only one side plays victim.

Are you saying he deserve to be killed as a result of that?

RandDigital:
Bolt South Africa has confirmed that the murdered e-hailing driver, Isaac Satlat, was not registered and illegally used a profile belonging to another.

The foreign national was killed by passengers in a shocking video caught on a dash cam.

Three suspects appeared in Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday, 16 February, on charges of murder and hijacking. A fourth suspect has since been arrested.

In a statement posted on its social media platforms, Bolt South Africa offered its condolences to the family and loved ones of driver Isaac Satlalt.

The e-hailing company condemned the murder, stating it was working with police in the ongoing investigation.

Bolt revealed that Satlat – a 22-year-old Nigerian – was not a registered driver. It added that the late foreign national had illegally used the profile of another driver, a man identified as Wiseman Makobe.

In all likelihood, Setlat paid Makobe to use his profile in order to utilise the app as a driver – a practice that e-hailing companies strongly condemn.

It shared: “On the day of the incident, Mr. Makobe completed the required verification process, after which Mr. Satlat operated using that profile. This constitutes profile sharing. The profile has since been permanently hard-blocked and banned from operating on the platform.

It added: “Profile sharing is strictly prohibited on the Bolt platform. It undermines passenger trust, compromises safety, and violates our agreements with drivers”.

Bolt revealed it had implemented multiple safeguards to curb the practice, including mandatory identity verification, regular in-app selfie checks, device monitoring, and data-led risk detection systems. Drivers who contravene this rule can face immediate suspension and permanent bans.

WHO WAS ISAAC SATLAT?

Isaac Satlat was a 22-year-old Nigerian foreign national who lived and studied in South Africa.

According to accounts by family members, Satlat completed a qualification in automotive mechanical engineering and was set to graduate next month. He was on a study visa, which permits individuals to work for up to 20 hours per week.

In December, he was hired by the owner of the vehicle he drove to become a Bolt driver.

On Wednesday, 11 February, he was attacked by two individuals who requested a ride on the e-hailing app. Two other individuals in another car were involved in the coordinated attack.

Satlat’s body was found in Atteridgeville, a township located outside Pretoria. His family are hoping to raise funds via a BackaBuddy campaign to have his remains repatriated.

Was bolt not collecting full commission from the earnings of the illegal profile sharing?
Some companies have very poor PR, I mean extremely poor.
How can a company like bolt not even thunk about the already strained relationship between SA and Naija before issuing this kind of insensitive statement!!
Even if he used someone's profile illegally and bolt obviously wants to avoid offering financial support to the family, can bolt not just condole the family and leave the profile talk about to a later date, maybe ater the deceased must have been buried?
This is the kind of thing that could start a "boycott bolt rides" campaign in Nigeria.
Nonsense and ingredients 😡😡😡😡😡

Bolt operates as a corporation, not as an emotional participant in public debates. Its decisions are guided by profit, legal exposure, and reputational protection.

There was no need for the rejoinder. If he committed a crime, I will agree with them releasing that statement of him operating the service illegally.

At least they didn't say he was an illegal migrant. That comment is a blow to his family and made it seem his death was justified.

It's totally out of place. Looking like SA government officials forcing them to add more to make the killing justified.

I agree that some companies have poor PR. However, there’s a difference between bad public relations and strategic legal positioning. When liability is involved, companies will choose self-protection over public approval. And that's the case here.

I understand why it feels unnecessary. But when something like this happens, a company thinks about possible claims or lawsuits.

If there is any question about visa rules or platform rules, they will clarify it early to protect themselves legally. It may sound cold, but companies act to reduce liability and avoid future legal problems. And this has nothing to do with the SA government. The SA government did their part , apprehending the perpetrators.

For what it's worth, the killer's would have killed whoever was using the profile to drive, even if it was the profile owner.
Not sharing profiles doesn't prevent any car-jacking or any other crime.
If both wanted to dodge a y financial and insurance obligations, they could still have done that if the bereaved demand for such benefits.
SA and Nigeria already have a strained relationship and this message from Bolt SA can be perceived with the mindset of that situation.

The murder suspect were arrested immediately, which is a good deterrent to other perpetrators. In Nigeria, so many Uber and Bolt incidents unresolved. May God helps this country Nigeria.
