Since you're a Super Star Tracker, why didn't you start tracking the scammer abinitio and you went ahead to pay someone to track him or her for you?

Why are you defending the corrupt police? Don't you know there are procedures for everything?
Tracking of phone number is the exclusive duty of the police probably and other public security agencies
But tracking of Vehicles and other devices are yours exclusive duty?

Track the recipient with what information? The only reason he went to police was because he couldn't get the recipient's details and the police could do that by petitioning the bank via a valid police order.

This, by the way, is the main reason I detest sending any huge money to online banks, if there's any need to reverse the transaction, na better one chance you enter.
Which one be Police order abeg?

It doesn't make sense to involve the police in a case where a mere N200k is involved if your aim is to recover the money.

You can only do so if your real aim is to teach the thief/fraudster a lesson and wouldn't mind spending more than the N200k in question to achieve that aim.

In Nigeria, given how messed up the system is, you need to apply common sense in most of these things. Everything no be agidi 'due process'. The more you look, the less you see.

COMRADES, I will be happy if I can get that link on Nairaland that sometimes ago captioned Nigerian Police as the most corrupt/ worst police in Africa/ world

Sometime ago last year, the WhatsApp account of my friend whom I hold in high esteem was hacked, and the hacker defrauded me to the tune of 200k, after my conversation with my friend. Then I discovered that I was scammed!

However, in order to unravel the identity of the fraudster, then I reached out to the receiving bank and also to my bank for the account to be linked, after that, both of the banks advised me if I want to know who the fraudster is, I should make a formal entry at the police station since banks don't release the information of their customers to the third party. But, the police through the court order can produce who the criminal is

After harking to the piece of the advice, I went to the police station (Elelenwo station, picture below) and made an entry, then the IPO assured me that the fraudster will be apprehended, that this is a simple case, that there's an officer (a tracker) who specialises in handling such cases, so he linked me up with the so-called tracking officer (name below) then the so-called tracking officer booked an appointment with me. After asking of my bank details, he logged on to Google and brought out a certain phone number and claimed that this was the number which was used to defraud me, so to know who the culprit is, it will cost me: 15k (cash) for entry, plus 30k for mobilisation of officers, plus another 15k for a job well done. Without further ado, I made the payment

Do you know one funny thing? The so-called tracking officer didn't know that I am also an experienced car/vehicle tracker (I track vehicles for companies) anytime I asked for an update the fraudster in uniform would googled an image and sent it to me, not knowing that he is dealing with an expert, he would also be telling me cock and bull story blah blah blah blah

After all the drama, this year I decided to escalate the matter at the station, guess what, the police sided with their colleague. When I proved to them that I am also a tracker and their colleague is nothing but a fraudster and I threatened to take legal action against the fraudster in uniform, then all of them washed their hands off the case
It's a pity..... Sorry this was your experience even after a loss and getting defrauded. It's sad that most things are failed in this country.

Re: See How Police Treated Me When I Lost Money (photos) by joseph032: 4:36am On Feb 18
Dont you read, where it is said, you need a police report and order from court before the bank can release details

These people will still boldly write bail is free at their stations but will shamelessly ask for money for bail.
1. They would never install CCTV cameras at the station. So they would boldly ask you for cash for bail. Even though it's millions. The annoying part is that they are so backwards in technology. You would see a typewriter or an ancient computer above 20 years old in a police station. You would not see a modern equipment at all.

I washed my hand of police same thing my phone was stolen only for police to demand 30k for each of the phone I paid then they said the person was in Lagos they needed to mobilise 150k after months of perambulating their office. I gave up because I knew it was a scam
Re: See How Police Treated Me When I Lost Money (photos) by sailor2011(m): 5:03am On Feb 18
@ Op , you erred by sending money to an account that does not bear your friends name...You should have demanded that your friend should open an account in his name...regardless of what the scammer told you...or put through a call to your friend to really confirm if he was indeed the one making the request....

What surprised me the most was when a female sergeant said that one day then go catch that thief wei thief your money don't worry, because then say 99days are for the thief and one day is for the owner God dey, then I asked her, is that what they taught you at the police training school during recruitment? That a criminal should commit havoc to the society 99times before we use prayer to apprehend him/her? What a shame

What do you expect from them when your rulers are the real fraudsters? What a country!
Again blame leaders for corrupt officers as if the leaders came from Mars. Most Nigerians including you all have tendency to defraud and be corrupt. Many don’t just have the opportunity yet.
Re: See How Police Treated Me When I Lost Money (photos) by HallahGeisher: 6:04am On Feb 18
The mistake you made was going to a divisional office. If you want to make trackings , only the headquarters have the resources. Just walk into any police headquarters and go straight to the SIB unit , they will deliver to you , although it may take time oooo but one day they will call you and tell you to come to the off ie that the guy has been arrested .

Why didn't U do the tracking yourself?

Oga from your comment you MUST be a Policeman.

Your comment is typical of a Nigerian Police officer.

Shame on you all.

Chai. Police indeed is NOT your friend.

After collecting all that from you, if it was actually something that they can really be of help, they'll still expect you to share the money recovered with them such that at the end they would have gotten more share of he recovery better than you.

In 2017 I had a messed up land purchase that saw me look at my 350k going down the drains. The land I paid for was in dispute and the village chief sided with the other contenders. The guys who sold the land showed me different replacement lands but I didn't like them (some didn't even have access). The agent who was so pained that the sellers didn't give him a cut from their end as originally agreed was pushing me to take the case to the police. I already know that land issue is mainly a civil matter and secondly I didn't even have that much time. But another concern was that even if I could recover the money, I'll likely loose half of it to the police for helping me recover it. I just forgot about the whole thing, but the Agent keep pestering them and threatening them. As God would have it, I was called year before last to come for settlement and that is how I received 500k for the 350k I had paid. The 500k is not exactly worth the real value at the time but it was far better than nothing on money I'd completely written off. I was happy I didn't waste my time and money with the police.
The land they gave you 500k for will be around 2million,atleast you get your money back,The fact is that that 500k cannot buy land in that area again

And you still carry your hand pay N60k to criminals after losing N200k to a thief. Have you seen where police help a Nigerian track any lost item before, except the wealthy class or those with big connection. It is better to trust a bandit than a police.

There is a group of criminals who operates along East West road, they use Keke bus ,carry walkie talkie and claim that they are police, they get into your vehicle ,take over your steering infact they kidnap you drive you around Portharcourt until they rob you, they take you to POS and empty your account. The state Police commissioner should listen to the cry of the people and get this criminals arrested. This daylight robbery cannot continue to hurt the residents of Portharcourt. Several reports have been posted on this platform but no attempt has been made to arrest this criminals.

It is no longer news that Osakwe Ikechukwu Reginald, who is currently 38 years old and graduated from Delta State University in the department of Geology some years back, is a serial fraudster who specialises in defrauding BDCs, cryptocurrency owners/sellers, etc., with fake screenshots, SMS alerts and co.

Osakwe Ikechukwu Reginald was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) in January 2024. However, I wonder why he is still walking scot-free and still left to be defrauding innocent Nigerians. He has lived and known in Abraka, Delta state, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Makurdi, Lagos Island, Uyo, etc. He dates different girls and ladies mainly for the purpose of sleeping with them and using their bank accounts and details for fraud.

you made a very big mistake to report this type of case to a police , this type of thing have happed to me....i was duped 150k when someone hacked a celbrity facebook and used it to dupe me...first thing first is to get a lawyer who will prepare a court order and gather all your evidence and give him so he can freeze the bank account and from there you and the bank the fraudster used to dupe you will have a case , attend the court case finally you will get your money back...in reverse because you will surely win...
