WELL EVERY COUNTRY HAVE THEIR PROBLEM, CANT BE JUDGEMENTAL ON OUR SOUTH AFRICAN BROTHERS.

AT LEAST THEIR PRESIDENT SHOW WILLINGNESS TO CURB THE SENSELESS KILLING WHICH SPARES NOBODY INCLUDING THE SAs.

ILLEGAL IS IRREVELANT TO THE DEAD THAT IS NOT EVEN A CITIZEN OF THIS WORLD NO MORE.

ILLEGAL IS ONLY RELEVANT TO THE LIVING SO IN THIS CASE THAT IS NOT EVEN RELEVANT NO MORE.

22 YEARS OF SOMEBODY HOPE WASTED AND GONE IS THE ISSSUE.

THAT KID JUST WANTED TO SURVIVE AND WAS ACTUALLY MAKING AN EFFORT AND DID NOT DESERVE IT.

So because he's operating "ILLEGALY", he deserve to be killed like that?

Those savages that murdered him all deserve capital punishment with no option of appeal.
Read it again you will understand what bolt is saying . They only covering their part which enables them to pay victims who died during their service.

They only saying that since he using profile sharing ( which is not even a crime) many bolt drivers do that. But bolt will not cover or held accountable for any damage or death.

So, it is nice for locals to kill locals? This is why Nigeria remains a shit hole, always trying to make other nations right while they cant be right. Like, fix Nigeria and most of our problems are gone. Most people ran out of Nigeria because of insecurity. I am scared of using the high way till date.
I even slept under the heat last night. Nigeria has problems, let fix that. Leave other nations alone. calling SA saddist makes me laugh becuse we are worse saddists

Don’t mind Nigerians that judge everything on sentiment. If bolt accept the guy works for them definitely they will pay huge death insurance on the victim. Bolt only saying he is not the owner of the profile which violates their death or accident cover. Simple as that. RIP to the young man may his killers get what they deserve

I understand why it feels unnecessary. But when something like this happens, a company thinks about possible claims or lawsuits.

If there is any question about visa rules or platform rules, they will clarify it early to protect themselves legally. It may sound cold, but companies act to reduce liability and avoid future legal problems. And this has nothing to do with the SA government. The SA government did their part , apprehending the perpetrators.
If the murdered guy was a SA, Bolt would not issue this statement despite the circumstances. If the loved ones of the deceased had wanted to ask for compensation then bolt would inform them how they are not liable? Saying hes was driving illegally is justifying his murder and they know thats why they said "they are not justifying his murder" thats just evil. See how you are even supporting the company like you have a single stock in it, thats just shows how diabolical you guys are. If I was president of Nigeria, I would immediately nationalize bolt after this statement, and for every nigerian you murder i would nationalize a major company, like MTN, DSTV

Good we have internal problem I agree with you but that is not justifiable for a national to kill a foreigner.

Supposing we apply the same measure here in Nigeria what do u think will happen.
Let's say we decide to kill illegal migrants in our to justify that they entered Nigeria illegally and they are operating illegally what do u think will happen next.
Killing is killing no country can solve all their problems.
I know we have bad leaders that is our problem. Don't kill our citizens because of our situation.

They didn't kill the person because he was illegal. Lol, it was purely a crime. The guy was even using their own person's bio details. It was purely crime.
My problem is that we are so fast to label them saddist when we are the worse saddists on earth.

Can Bolt SA confidently say they weren't aware he was operating illegally? The man was driving for them albeit illegally. They had prior knowledge but chose to keep mum. Many e hailing companies experience it with their drivers so it's nothing new.
I understand why they came out with this disclaimer but the timing and optics paints them in a bad light. It makes it appear his murder is not weighty enough since he's illegal and out not to be driving.

So in other words, Bolt is justifying the killing. Dummies
. Make una dey read na.
You wouldn't say they were justifying the killing if you had read the whole thing.
They are simply saying that profile-sharing is one of the things that jeapardize both the passenger's and drivers' safety on their platform. They never said he deserved being killed for using the platform illegally. According to the press release, that very day, the driver on their system was recorded as one Wiseman Makobe when the slained driver's name was Isaac Satlat.

And so? Even if he was operating illegally does that give anybody any right to take his life? Here in Nigeria, do we go about killing other nationals doing illegal activities in Nigeria? South Africans should better change the way they treat their fellow Africans.

South Africa is not the only country that have illegal immigrants. Nigeria even have more illegal immigrants residing in Nigeria and doing business more than any African country, the only thing is we don't care much about all the illegal immigrants in the country because an average Nigeria is always after his own survival and doesn't care much about any illegal immigrant in the country.

If Nigeria should start treating all these illegal immigrants in the country bad, many people will be surprised about the huge number of them in the country.
Like make we illegally sound 100 SA people here this morning because dem no waka well for street.....
Dem.go say we bad gahn.

That's not what the article said. If you read only the headline without reading the article itself, That's the conclusion you will jump to. Don't be that kind person.

More so the murderers has been arrested and charged to court for the murder. So it's not as if South Africa are sweeping the crime under the rug.

RandDigital:
Bolt South Africa has confirmed that the murdered e-hailing driver, Isaac Satlat, was not registered and illegally used a profile belonging to another.

The foreign national was killed by passengers in a shocking video caught on a dash cam.

Three suspects appeared in Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday, 16 February, on charges of murder and hijacking. A fourth suspect has since been arrested.

In a statement posted on its social media platforms, Bolt South Africa offered its condolences to the family and loved ones of driver Isaac Satlalt.

The e-hailing company condemned the murder, stating it was working with police in the ongoing investigation.

Bolt revealed that Satlat – a 22-year-old Nigerian – was not a registered driver. It added that the late foreign national had illegally used the profile of another driver, a man identified as Wiseman Makobe.

In all likelihood, Setlat paid Makobe to use his profile in order to utilise the app as a driver – a practice that e-hailing companies strongly condemn.

It shared: “On the day of the incident, Mr. Makobe completed the required verification process, after which Mr. Satlat operated using that profile. This constitutes profile sharing. The profile has since been permanently hard-blocked and banned from operating on the platform.

It added: “Profile sharing is strictly prohibited on the Bolt platform. It undermines passenger trust, compromises safety, and violates our agreements with drivers”.

Bolt revealed it had implemented multiple safeguards to curb the practice, including mandatory identity verification, regular in-app selfie checks, device monitoring, and data-led risk detection systems. Drivers who contravene this rule can face immediate suspension and permanent bans.

WHO WAS ISAAC SATLAT?

Isaac Satlat was a 22-year-old Nigerian foreign national who lived and studied in South Africa.

According to accounts by family members, Satlat completed a qualification in automotive mechanical engineering and was set to graduate next month. He was on a study visa, which permits individuals to work for up to 20 hours per week.

In December, he was hired by the owner of the vehicle he drove to become a Bolt driver.

On Wednesday, 11 February, he was attacked by two individuals who requested a ride on the e-hailing app. Two other individuals in another car were involved in the coordinated attack.

Satlat’s body was found in Atteridgeville, a township located outside Pretoria. His family are hoping to raise funds via a BackaBuddy campaign to have his remains repatriated.

Some people don't read to understand, Bolt authorities are working with the police to bring the killers to justice. They did their investigation and discovered he was operating illegally. Some Nigerians here just love fraud and see nothing wrong with it. What he was doing was a mistrust to passengers, I don't know why Bolt allowed sharing of profiles which can be very dangerous if someone bad exploited it. May the killers be brought to justice.

Bolt operates as a corporation, not as an emotional participant in public debates. Its decisions are guided by profit, legal exposure, and reputational protection.
And yet its share price is affected by emotions. Ignoring the emotional impact of one's release or statements is a lack of emotional intelligence.

The lawsuit wasn't coming for them. Why bother? This is a crime against the state. It's murder. They have nothing to protect.

If it was he that committed a crime 🫆, then their statement would be in order to deny him as a lawful employee/partner to the service. In this case, it's a no-no.

Bolt SA goofed on this one. A spade 🪏 is not a shovel.
