bidexiii:Actually, I have my doubts about what ISWAP is saying here. These array of equipment they are showcasing here could easily have been assembled from anywhere, and the pix of the damaged equipment and buildings seem almost identical to those earlier released by the Army. But I don't blame them, na we dey give them mouth to talk....If they were cut off and ambushed repeatedly on their withdrawal route by both ground and air attacks, they would be too busy licking their wounds to remember to do propaganda. |

#ThisWeekinUSNigeriaHistory In 2022, U.S. and Nigerian officials broke ground at Kainji Air Force Base on the final phase of a $38 million facility supporting the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft. Part of a $500 million U.S.-Nigeria security cooperation program – one of the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa – the project combined aircraft delivery, training, and infrastructure to enhance Nigeria’s air capabilities. A year later, the facility was commissioned, marking an important milestone in the ongoing defense partnership between both countries and in Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts. #Freedom250

VonSmallhausen:ISWAP has claimed another attack in **Borno State**, driven by its proximity to **Lake Chad**, a major insurgent stronghold. Governor **Babagana Zulum** has called for a joint Army, Navy, and Air Force offensive, including the use of attack drones, to target terrorist bases in the Tumbus islands. The engagements underscored the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s unified resolve to intensify counterterrorism and internal security operations in Kwara State and across the country. Rumours has that somalia is buying 24 jf-17 fighter jet but it hasn’t happened yet. Somalia is currently in advanced negotiations with Pakistan to purchase up to 24 JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jets in a proposed defence package valued at around $900 million. However, as of now no deal has been officially signed or finalized — the reports describe talks and negotiations, not a completed contract. Let's compare Nigeria M-346 Fighter jet worth $1.2billion and 24 jf-17 for $900million, who got the better offer for the value of its money

Troops neutralise 15 terrorists, destroy logistics hub in Gujba in Yobe Troops of Sector 2 under Operation DESERT SANITY V have neutralised 15 terrorists and destroyed a suspected logistics base during a precision operation around Lamusheri Village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state. Military sources told Zagazola that the early morning operation on Feb. 22 followed weeks of intelligence gathering supported by satellite imagery and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance air platforms, which identified the location as a terrorist attack launch point and logistics hub. According to the sources, troops, alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, came under fire while approaching the target but tactically outflanked the insurgents and cut off their escape routes. During the ensuing firefight, 15 terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds. Security personnel also discovered extensive defensive structures at the site and destroyed all identified life-support facilities used by the group. In addition, five tricycles and two vehicles allegedly used for attacks and logistics were destroyed and set ablaze with their contents. Recovered items included a cache of arms and ammunition, as well as two bandoliers and carmel pouches. The military said two personnel sustained gunshot wounds during the operation but were in stable condition, adding that the general security situation in the area remained calm but unpredictable, while troop morale and combat efficiency remained high. Air-ground offensive foils Kukawa attack, destroys gun trucks Troops have thwarted a coordinated multi-pronged terrorist assault on positions in Kukawa after a prolonged overnight battle supported by air strikes. Military sources said the attackers, mounted on gun trucks, motorcycles and on foot, launched the assault from multiple directions late on Feb. 20. Troops mounted a determined defence, engaging the insurgents in intense combat that lasted into the early hours of Feb. 21 before forcing them to withdraw while dragging away casualties. Air strikes later destroyed one gun truck and several motorcycles carrying fleeing fighters, neutralising additional terrorists. During follow-up exploitation, troops recovered 13 AK-47 rifles, 16 loaded magazines, three handheld radios, and other items believed to have been used by the attackers, as well as evidence of casualties evacuated by the group. One soldier was killed during the encounter, while some equipment was damaged by rocket fire. Injured personnel were evacuated and are reported to be in stable condition. Military authorities said the coordinated operations demonstrated sustained pressure on insurgent elements and continued efforts to degrade their combat capability across the theatre. bidexiii:The variant of the JF-17 to be purchased is unknown but if we assume it to be the most advanced variant which is the JF-17C Block 3 which has a unit cost of about $25 - $30 million, that would be; 24 x 30 = $720 million. The remaining $180 million may not be enough to cover spare parts, ammunitions and supporting infrastructure and training costs. Somalia may have to prioritize one miscellaneous over the others or forfeit one in favour of others. Nigeria’s deal on the other hand is a miracle. I just checked for the unit price of the M-346FA and I saw approximately $93 million. Austria signed a contract in 2025 for 12x M-346FA and other miscellaneous at a cost of $1.7 billion. Nigeria got a deal for 24x M-346FAs for $1.3 billion, inclusive of the miscellaneous. But I’m guessing inflation in the past few years played a part in increasing the unit cost of the platform, hence why the Austrian deal is more expensive than the Nigerian deal |

Multinational Joint Task Force thwarts ISWAP revenge attack near Bargaram, eliminates five terrorists Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully repelled a well-coordinated revenge attack by ISWAP terrorists along the Cameroon-Nigeria border near Bargaram, in a demonstration of resilience and operational superiority. Sources told Zagazola Makama that the insurgents launched the attack to avenge their humiliating defeat during an encounter at Bulgaram on the night of February 18–19, 2026, where five ISWAP fighters, including the top foreign commander Omar al-Shami, were killed by MNJTF forces. According to sources, the engagement launched under the cover of night was met by decisive fire power by the MNJTF troops who displayed gallantry and precision in repelling the attack, neutralizing several insurgents the process and secured a large cache of weapons,” the source added. Recovered from the terrorists were an array of high-calibre weaponry and ammunition, including two AK-47 assault rifles, one M21 rifle (No. 11021), one PKM machine gun (No. NT 234), an anti-tank rocket, and four hand grenades. Ammunition seized comprised 47 rounds of 5.56×45 mm, 112 rounds of 7.62×39 mm, and 429 rounds of 7.62×54 mm, alongside six AK-47 magazine boxes and four M21 magazine boxes.
