Kalashnikov49:Just wait bro... Two weeks too much, before strengthening becomes weakening. I am not pessimistic, we have seen this celebratory vanity too many. What is in this to celebrate? They keep looking for anything, everything to campaign with, even when election campaigns is far from it. |

Naira is not gaining anything. The Chinese new year just started yesterday. Almost all Chinese factories are on holiday. Supply across the world is low now. In about 2 weeks or less, things will reset. nothing to celebrate here. So if you have naira, you can buy dollars now, in 2 weeks time, you will sell at atleast 40 naira per dollar profit. |

AlphaTaikun:The same government printing new naira in trillions was the same government borrowing dollars to influence the market and shore up the value of the naira! It was a case of invite a thief to steal then report the thief to the owner. |

ZUBY77:If the dollars that is being used to increase the forex reserve is released into the market, we may see dollar going below 1000 naira. The naira presently is underpriced and that is caused by the rising forex reserve |

lawani:Indeed, you're right my brother. It was a very terrible period in Nigerian history to see Nigeria performing as an economic underachiever. The past Nigerian Governments for decades lived a LIE by using scarce USD to defend the Naira. The average Nigerians too lived a LIE for years thinking that because the exchange rate of the Naira to the USD was low, it reflected the correct state of the total economy. The fuel subsidy being paid with borrowed funds also fooled many into thinking the lower fuel pump price was reflective of the true state of the Nigerian economy. It was all a lie that wasn't sustainable otherwise if those subsidies had persisted, the ENTIRE economy would have collapsed. This is what a lot of the clueless random posters spreading disinformation online don't understand. Things are beginning to pan out after the subsidy removal and the exchange rates have stabilized for many months and even appreciated. The foreign airlines flying into Nigeria that could NOT transfer their trapped USD funds made from the sales of tickets have since had the backlogs cleared up. There's a lot more to be done but kudos goes to the folks in government for stabilizing the macro-economic parameters. The NEXT destination is to reduce the total cost of living even further on a state-by-state basis before the 2026/2027 election cycle begins. |
