President Bola Tinubu and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in security, power, and railway development.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, confirmed the details in a statement released on Wednesday.

In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the leaders also discussed collaboration in creative arts and skill development, signaling a broader partnership beyond traditional sectors.

On Nigeria’s power needs, President Tinubu said, “We will require assistance with power transmission as part of our Presidential Power Initiative.”

Chancellor Merz responded, “Siemens is ready to assist, and Deutsche Bank is willing to finance the project.”

The two leaders also addressed security challenges in the Sahel region.

President Tinubu called for military support, saying, “The Sahel corridor is bad and needs our support. Intelligence support reconnaissance is needed.”

Diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Germany span 65 years. Chancellor Merz welcomed the strengthening ties, noting, “We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Nigeria’s new ambassador to Germany.”

He also emphasised the importance of arts in building cultural bridges, advocating for the establishment of the Great Museum of African Arts.

I have lost several cattle to cattle rustlers, recently a mother cow was killed, the calf couldn't survive and died a week later. It's a ranch, they don't go out. Tinubu is really making diplomatic moves to reshape the economy and security architecture of the country by partnering with developed world and strengthening our international ties……result are already manifesting, we can see the cooperation with the USA in tackling our security challenges and also in area of economy, countries like Brazil, UAE, turkey etc have also signed trade deals and bringing in investment into the country no wonder our ratings are going up according to world organisation like World bank etc…….this is the result of his foreign trips which some bitter losers have been trying hard to score some cheap political points with……Nigerians are wiser and can see the new direct and progressive trajectory Tinubu is setting the country on…..this are some of his achievements that will do the campaigning when the campaigns are kicking off, infrastructure is getting significant attention, economy is on a rebound, and the Naira is appreciating, tax reforms, student loan etc……..no wonder the opposition are jittery grin

Tinubu will record more votes in the next election than he did in 2023, the candidates of the major opposition party will determine the number of vote margin he will use to defeat the candidate……but if it is bitter obi which will all hope and pray will be on the ballot…….just say otilo, Tinubu till 2031 grin

What was Nigeria installed generating capacity in 1999? About 1200MW. As at 2015, it had risen to 13000MW with actual generation at 5000MW max. Are you aware that the number has not increased till today?!! I mean after 12 years of APC, installed capacity and generation capacity remains more or less where PDP left it!! Even the transmission grid is still the same way it was when OBJ upgraded it in 2007.
