APC Denies Pressuring Governor Adeleke To Join Party by press9jatv(op): 9:44am On Feb 20
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has rejected allegations that the Presidency mounted pressure on Governor Ademola Adeleke to abandon the Peoples Democratic Party for the ruling party.

The party said the claim, made by former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was false and misleading.

Oyinlola had spoken during a televised interview where he suggested that Adeleke was emotionally distressed over pressure to defect.

In a statement issued in Osogbo on Thursday, APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi insisted that there was no such move from the party or the Presidency. He said the narrative being promoted does not match events on the ground.

According to the APC, it was Governor Ademola Adeleke who explored the possibility of joining the party but was not welcomed.

The party maintained that its leadership in Osun shut the door against any such move.

Olabisi explained that Adeleke’s name had been linked to several political figures in an attempt to create the impression that powerful forces were pushing him into the APC. He described the claim as exaggerated and unfounded.

The APC further challenged the governor to publicly identify those allegedly applying pressure on him. The party said no governor anywhere in the country had been forced to defect and that the story was invented to divert attention from the internal crisis in the PDP.

The party also distanced itself from the growing troubles within the opposition in Osun and at the national level. It said the PDP’s problems were self-inflicted and should not be blamed on the APC.

Addressing reports of months of speculation about Adeleke’s defection, the APC stated that such rumours only gained ground before the release of the Independent National Electoral Commission timetable for the 2026 governorship election. The governor’s media aide had consistently denied the talks at the time.

The APC added that accepting Adeleke would have weakened the party’s standing in the state. It said he would have been “a liability” and could damage the party’s image and cohesion ahead of the next election cycle.

Meanwhile, the Osun PDP said the people of the state would ultimately determine the political future of the governor in 2026. Party leaders also accused the opposition of planning to manipulate the election through questionable means.

In a response to the APC’s statement, Osun PDP chairman Sunday Bisi said the party remained committed to serving residents and would not be distracted by what he described as propaganda from the opposition.

Because Tinubu granted special consideration to his cousin, Oyetola, who wants to impose his stooge in the APC. Is there any state where the legacy APC members did not reject the defection of the sitting governor to APC? Why did Tinubu insist on having his way in all other states despite these protests, except in Osun? Did Barth Nnaji and the Enugu state APC chairman not get fired because they resisted Peter Mbah's defection?

Okay, governors are important. Seyi Makinde will deliver Oyo to ADC if he defects. Do you agree? A governor is only as important as the will of the people. Not vice versa.

Why are you crying more than the bereaved?

APC has too much Governors, we don't need them anymore and we just don't accept anyone, such a person must meet our minimum requirements which Adeleke lacks.

The governorship election in Osun State is going to be a landslide victory for Gov Adeleke. He will beat the APC blue and black. I can't understand how the APC is thinking they can win the governorship election in Osun State, with the kind of suffering they have unlished on the people of Osun State. It is natural when you make a person to suffer unnecessarily, at the mention of your name, that person will run away from you
Re: APC Denies Pressuring Governor Adeleke To Join Party by Engrduke: 11:27am On Feb 20
Ademola Adeleke Jackson needed APC platform to contest, so he did all he could to see his defection move sail through but encountered strong resistance from the party members.
The National Leadership of APC equally wanted the Dancing Governor but the local party loyalists resisted.
Most political office holders at the national level from Osun State are deeply rooted in APC now.

So the truth is in the public domain.
Let's see how it goes at the end of the day. August is not far away.

How can they be pressurising him, when they aren’t prepared to give him the APC Guber ticket! Think am now! PDP and by extension Adeleke lost most of his supporters after 2022! The reps that have not decamped have no place to go… the likes of Soji Adetunji of IBO constituency…

No matter the popularity of Seyi as Governor, Tinubu as president dwarfs his popularity.

you know Tinubu’s antecedents, he is already plotting 2031 for Ribadu… 2027 is done and dusted! All loopholes have been plugged… the opposition was counting on a stalemate with “mandatory electronic transmission” bait… but APC has some smart guys in their corner, they saw through the plot

Has he performed? Is he better than Oyetola whose placeholder the APC presents? Those are the important questions to ask?
Am still waiting for the Oyetola supporter to reply.
greed, avarice and power mongering won't allow APC and Oyetola see that Akin Ogunbiyi would have been a better candidate to face Adeleke for the Osun State governorship election in 2026.
