Do you know that Covenant University has no scholarship and financial aid programmes huh
That is shocking to know. Oyedepo is a freaking billionaire several times over, sponsoring a 100 students a year would be nothing to him.

No, thats not the conclusion the writer ended his experience with.
Men of God at best are men first. With same foibles and inadequacies we all experience. Besides how many people could/ would they be able to assist who make such requests daily, it's impossible humanly.
I too had a similar experience with a big man of God whom we were classmates in school but I tried not to blame him. They are humans with human limitations. They are not a special class of people. God chose to work through them, that's all. Some don't even have pleasant personalities but the most high in His wisdom chose to use them.

Your pastor can't help you in the times of need, but would rather refer you to pray to God who's busy minding his business in heaven to send help to you on earth. But when the same thief disguising as pastor needs help,he falls back to you who are his members, billing you to stupor angry

He even tried by continuing to go to church. Cuz in my own case, that was my instant full stop and why I will never go to church.

We have heard your part.

Just last Sunday in the same church, a guy's wife had still birth and needed some evacuation. The hospital billed him the sum of 300 thousand.
He went to the same church where he activey belongs to a service group.

Just mentioning it among the few, in less than 35 mins, they raised almost ₦400k silently on the spot. Just few.

Same man you met is currently taking care of thousands of students on scholarship upto doctorates , silently.

Thank God that it didn't shake your faith. My advice, when you belong to an organisation, identify before challenges come. You have to take care of the children before the outsiders .

Very fake and inconsistent story.

In a church for over 3 years, yet you couldn't meet your local leaders but went straight to the GO.

Lies.

You attended the church for just almost 3 years and demanding financial help based on period you've been with the church, what about pastors's children that's have been there for more than 20 years. Pastos can not help everybody approaching them for helps. Now that you are nurse and earning money how many people have you have helped financially, how many school fees have you paid for the less privileges.
The day I realised that one can find solace, comfort and HELP quickly from people your type call WORLDLY PEOPLE that was when I broke the shackles of religion in my life.

Peace to you.

Are you going to church to seek help from your Pastor??

Many of una just like to dey yarn dust, that same guy will have a rich uncle who also refused to help him ooo, but he chooses to accuse the Pastor cos na easy target

The fact is as humans, in as much as we want to help a lot of people, we can't help everyone

Sometimes sef I go dey my room dey cry say I suppose don dey help many people sef but me sef need help

Bottom line put your trust in God, Worship him and leave your pastor alone with his own wahala
But isn't that the duty of him as a pastor ..

As a pastor , you get all that money which you earn from occasional contributions of your congregations termed as offering and tithe but cannot give a common 230k.

Something he would earn back with just one service or one power packed delusional program..

Re: We Went To Beg Oyedepo For School Fees — Nurse Shares Why He Almost Quit Church by stagger: 12:50pm On Feb 21
Anyone with parents should not be asking another person for school fees money. If you have to, start with family, then friends.

That said, the power of networking should not be ignored. Does this nurse belong to an activity group or a home cell fellowship? That is where such needs should have been channeled to first.

Why must Bishop use his money which is primarily meant for his family and close circle on a total stranger? If it is church money, it has to go through a process.

Lastly, if a person's faith in God is based on what he gets for free from a man of God, then that person's faith is FAKE!

alphonsojidebab:
A Nigerian nurse has recounted an emotional experience from 2016 involving renowned cleric David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, revealing how the encounter nearly shook his faith and commitment to church attendance.

The man, identified on social media platform X as @Nrs_Danie, narrated that he had struggled for years to secure admission into the Lagos State School of Nursing, succeeding only after his fourth attempt. However, his joy was short-lived as he lacked the ₦230,000 required to pay tuition, with school authorities giving him just one month before forfeiting the admission. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to his account, he and his mother, who lived in Abule Egba area of Lagos, left home as early as 5 a.m. to travel to Sango Ota, Ogun State, where the church headquarters is located, hoping to seek financial assistance from the cleric.

He explained that they had been active members of the church for about three years, participating in services, prayers, and fasting programmes, which strengthened their belief that they might receive support.

They reportedly positioned themselves along the route where the bishop would pass before his morning service, waiting for an opportunity to speak with him.

When the cleric eventually arrived, the man said he and his mother rushed forward to plead for help but were stopped by security personnel.

He claimed that the bishop responded by advising them to apply for a bursary from the Lagos State Government instead.

The response, he said, left him devastated, considering the emotional and physical effort it took to gain admission after several attempts.

The nurse admitted that the incident affected him deeply and almost caused him to question his faith in God. However, he later came to the realization that religious leaders are human and that faith should be centered on God rather than individuals.

He emphasized that leaving church because of a pastor’s action would mean one’s faith was misplaced.

Despite the disappointment, he eventually completed his nursing education without financial assistance from the cleric and now works abroad as a nurse.

Reflecting on his journey, he said the experience strengthened his belief that personal faith and determination are more important than reliance on any religious figure.

Truly, most Nigerian celebrity preachers are not worth the following. They lack the compassion and humane-traits they appear to passionately speak about on their lecterns.

That was how I also once approached the Dunamis man back then when I secured an international admission, and needed financial assistance to secure my seat.
The man snubbed me absolutely like it wasn't a human that was even talking.
Needless to say, I lost the chance to pursue the degree.
Since then, I don't give a hoot about those sugar-coated mofos hyping themselves superficially.
Let all man hustle for him own money, and when you finally hammer, if you want do saddaka for church, na you Sabi.

Re: We Went To Beg Oyedepo For School Fees — Nurse Shares Why He Almost Quit Church by Walz001: 12:59pm On Feb 21
hmmmm my opinion is gonna be straight

One is you didn't work before you got admitted and you never saved to secure admission right?
Then 2 you don't have a family member you can call right apart from your church pastor ?
3 the church you do go to before heading to the main Headquarters why didn't you ask them there ?
4 you said and I quote while he was heading to the church you approached him ... What is he has a sermon to give on that day and time ?
I don't follow follow men on pulpit because it's not all of them (pastors) that are called

At the same time I have seen so many people if church didn't give them every Sunday rice of support they run to another that would
It's bad and sucking...
You need to understand the church is for growth and if you wish pay your tithe or offering if you don't like don't pay
For me I don't pay either I still support the church one way or the other if I will

That doesn't mean I should now go and tell my pastor to come build a house for me or pay my rent it's making me weak

My brother you don't have a story
Before the church they worked
You should work also
And by the way you have graduated right and you have been earning how many people have you helped ?
Note: am not a member of their church and not one of their fam base

But we need to think right and do things right in this part of the world

I knew someone who had same encounter with him at raji oba church.

The most painfully was, the man actually made it part of the sermon that evening.

Insisting no elders should render help to anyone.

Religion is the opium of the poor.

Church is their business enterprise.
Omo na lie be this o.

Me I be full member before before o. Full member.
Wetin that person tell u na pure lie.

I joined Winners with my mom when the main church was in Raji Oba in 1994, before they moved to Sango Ota in 1999. Being trained by a single parent, my brother and I were given scholarships. As a matter of fact, the scholarships were made for single parents and widows, so we benefitted from them. My mum was a full member. She passed away in 2023. She was given a space in Canaan Cemetery; all services were handled by pastors. The wake-keeping venue, funeral service, and reception were all done without a kobofrom our end. All we were asked to do was provide food for people even we,children were no longer members.

You all need to understand one principle about winners, which is that if you don't attend a fellowship center, you are not a full member. It is through the fellowship center that all helps are rendered.
All help rendered during my mom funeral was through her fellowship center, and recommendations were made to the main church.

Trusting in man itself is idolatry. Don't compare any man with God. If you do you will be disappointed. If you want to worship a man then you are doomed. Until we clearly understand this don't depend on any man but God and sincerely so. Some people will start worshipping you the moment you start solving their problems. Even oyedepo can ask God for something and God will deny him for reasons only known to God.
Re: We Went To Beg Oyedepo For School Fees — Nurse Shares Why He Almost Quit Church by nairalanda1(m): 1:06pm On Feb 21
LOL...i'm defending Oyedepo again, someone that preaches false message fof prosperity gospel.

Every church has a protocol for seeking welfare. As many have said here, you go through your church cell, and it may be escaleted to the pastor. ANd eventually up to the main church hq if neccessary.

The guy did not tell us if he went through his cell or even to his pastor or the elders of the church, he just said he went straight to the big man.

Now naturally Oyedepo over the years has probably recieved a lot of appeals for help...so he had to evolve a structure to do things re welfare.

I mean, a lot of rich people do that. If they had to attend to every one that came to them for help, they would be out of money and out of cash and worn out before six months passed. That is why Oyedepo had a protocol for his church...and the guy didn't follow it.

And Nigerians are complaining. And calling oyedepo names (Not that i mind..lol)...but let's be honest....we complain we want order, a church or government body does as we ask and produces order, then we ignore the ordered protocol ...and go straight to the man at the top.

The bible says let things be done decently and in order. The guy is just looking for clicks and likes.
Re: We Went To Beg Oyedepo For School Fees — Nurse Shares Why He Almost Quit Church by Chucks13: 1:08pm On Feb 21
I blamed you and your mum. Why will you even dare go to Oyedepo? Is not only Oyedepo do this so don't take it personal it just showed your help is not in Oyedepo hand but Gods hand. You trusted man than trusting God.

At the end did you finally finished your studies? Yes, so that showed your helper is not with Oyedepo.

Though Oyedepo response was really bad and uncomfortable but that will be a lesson to other to stop stalking people for help.

Not all pastors are bad, most pastors from ur region (southern part of Nigeria) are not to be trusted becos the only thing dey know how to do is to be collecting from their members without their members benefiting from it. The true men of God (pastors) are found in the north, very fearless, vocal and full with humility.
