From the desk of Don Ebubeogu Managing Director of Tiger Group.

When Hon. Edward Ibuzor called me and announced that the state government has given him the marine base at the Akpaka side of the River Niger to manage water transport using one of the passenger boats procured by Anambra State Government, I know we can make other use of the facility by adding fun to the city.

I started getting involved with the entertainment industry in Anambra state when Tiger Foods Limited organized their Tiger Mayonnaise Tasting Parties across the country.

The parties we organized at Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi were well attended. And we saw the gap in the sponsorship of the Entertaiment Industry.

Through deliberate and intentional collaborations, we sponsored programs like Oba Ji Festival which is today one of the biggest cultural and social gathering in Onitsha organized by Ozi Anieto, Onitsha Business Hangout professionally run by Ifeanyi Ogbaji, the Monthly Lightup Party anchored by the trio of Queen-Donnia Chiamaka Achalugo, Chukwura Chukwurah Onyekachi, and DJ Gentle, and not to forget The Gathering at Manestman on the 24th of December to celebrate the end of every year.

These social events and numerous others have continue to add glamour and excitement to the city of Onitsha.

Now, with the handover of the marine transport and passenger boat, we saw another opportunity for Entertaiment and organized the first cruise party on the February 14th, and used the opportunity to invite the public to be aware of the government/private partnership to use the waterways as an alternative means of transport from Onitsha to Asaba and for leisure.

The atmosphere was lovely and we are widening the discussion with stakeholders to invest more into this initiative by facelifting the marine base, have access to one of the island on the river niger and collaborate with the security agencies to provide safe and easy movement of passengers and cars across the river and to organize another cruise party on the Easter Sunday.

If you are joining us from Lagos, Owerri, Abuja or Port Harcourt, your price will be double.

The inaugural Onitsha Boat Cruise Party, held on 14th of February, was sponsored by Tiger Foods, a prominent Nigerian food manufacturer based in Onitsha, major commercial and industrial hub, thanks to Chief Don Ebubeogu, a renowned business leader, for his outstanding contributions to the state.

Good initiative but that policy in the last paragraph is an aberration. People from far should even be given good DISCOUNT to encourage them instead of increasing their own fee. It is a wrong policy. They are already spending more to attend.

Did the boat take the fun seekers to the island on the Niger river? shocked...

If so, the potential of that island should be harnessed.

Landmark on my mind! They are doing well in Enugu already.

It makes sense

It can rival lagos if its well managed

We are tired of people from that side blaiming their backwardness on Lagos and Tinubu

Most beaches in lagos are privately or state owned
