nlfpmod:I am and will still remain an advocate for 3 Peace of Mind Tests (for those who can afford it). POM Test 1: Immediately after delivery and no more than 2 hours after delivery. To determine paternity. POM Test 2: Immediately after leaving the hospital and no more than 24 hrs after leaving the hospital. (Many Hospital and medical staff in Nigeria are cursed, calous, unprofessional, negilgent and grossly incompetent) POM Test 3: After 6 months -2 years to verify the previous tests. If you cannot afford these, then conduct Test 2 at least. |

Nigeria has been 3rd most paternity fraud country in the world for over a a decade now & it's not even surprising because I have seen some cases that happened around me...I was even lucky not to had fallen victim during university days.... Paternity fraud goes beyond what we read online...I used to tell my friends way back that if government should institutionalise DNA test ....you will be seeing heads rolling on every streets like you see discarded pure water nylon. |

erad:DNA test results don't take that long to come out. Samples collected in Nigeria are sent to the lab testing facilities abroad through courier services like FedEx, DHL, and UPS. After the lab received the samples, results are often available within 2–5 business days for paternity tests. The patient can get the result by email because many DNA testing providers allow their patients to receive test results via email. The turnaround should not be more than one month. |

PappyRome:You're making no sense! Some ladies marry for convenience because the man is rich and can sort her financial needs. Such ladies might not even find the man attractive at all and for this reason, they decide to select genes from other men they consider as handsome and attractive. They make babies with the men they find attractive while relying on their husbands for finances! It seems you have not yet come to terms with the fact that many women are cruel to the marrows. You still see all women as innocent and weaker vessels. You'll still learn! |

Ashirioluwa:I get you. But then, do you know how many births we have daily in Nigeria? The backlog will be crazy. If each geopolitical region can have at least one forensic lab, then we can start discussing mandatory DNA tests at childbirth. Also, it doesn't make much sense for a whole country to depend on foreign labs for something that's legally mandatory. |

erad:Maybe not enough, but there are multiple DNA lab testing facilities in Nigeria, primarily located in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and other major cities, offering services like paternity and immigration testing. Some of the major DNA testing centers located in Lagos include: - Lagos State DNA & Forensic Center - Smart DNA - Lynx DNA Lab - DNA Centre Nigeria. - DNA forensic laboratory Few others are located in other major cities in Nigeria. |

TheStoriesOfMan:I'm not saying they won't look for their father, but of what use is that father in their life? A father that was not there when the first step was taken in life. Not all children are like that, they won't leave U that raised them from day one till they attain success for one father that does nothing for them in life. |

erad:We had a DNA lab on Broad St by CMS Lagos. Unfortunately, it was burnt down during EndSARS. Hopefully, the government will renovate and reequip the building sometime soon. I believe that there are others in the country. |

Ashirioluwa:Why then do we still send samples abroad? Maybe it's a trust factor. I believe the government really needs to equip every major federal hospital with a forensic lab. Nigeria still has a very long way to go. |

| Re: Man Discovers His 3 Children Are Not His After DNA Test In Uvwie, Delta State by Ashirioluwa: 10:47pm On Feb 24 |
erad:Those DNA samples that are being sent abroad for testing are because the patients used the services of foreign-based labs. Anyone that wants to do DNA should make sure that the chosen DNA lab is accredited to international standards such as AABB or ISO 17025. A reputable DNA laboratory, regardless of its location (Nigeria or abroad), will produce the same result because the biological, genetic data being tested is the same. The main difference is usually cost and turnaround time rather than accuracy. |
