"One thing we should bear in mind is, is not only fuel money you should be concerned about, whatever you end the day with as profit, you should factor in maintenance.."

Exactly. I learnt this the hard way when I first started this hustle. I was taking every trip Bolt threw my way... I was making money alright, but I was spending a lot on repairs. Before I know, alternator don spoil...next week, shaft leg break...I saw my car deteriorating before my very eyes. I had to purse and think...is this system worth it.

What pays me now is to be selective of where I go and the trips i acceot. With this mode of operation, I get to keep more of what I make, instead of making and spending 3/4 on repairs. I wish I had realized this mode earlier. Anyway, to each his own.
Amen, to each his own. Once God sort one important bill wey dey hang over my head, walahi, maybe na 2 or 3 times a week I go dey drive, unless things drastically improves.... You can't even manage man, bus driver trip from ajah to ikeja will out earn you with the kind of money indrive is offering.

I learnt this in one week of starting the hustle. Some areas like Ikotun have death traps as streets. Bolt thinking they will send me a blind trip are just wasting their time cos I won’t try it.

I have observed that fast fingers don’t check destination. You could instantly tell they don’t own these vehicles and they are willing to take it to death traps just to make crumbs.

Anyone who owns a vehicle will always check destination before accepting any trip because their car is precious to them.

Maybe they do, i do... Within 2 secs i don know if na trip wey i go like... Problem is 90% of the trips now ain't it... Day has ended, i no comot. We try again tomorrow.

Next week God willing, I'll run a full tank taking 'ok to dumb' trips, let me see how it goes, I'll share the results here.... So that everybody will see whether 'always busy' is better than selective busy.

One thing we should bear in mind is, is not only fuel money you should be concerned about, whatever you end the day with as profit, you should factor in maintenance..... Being busy throughout the day taking 'ok' trips is just more wear and tear on ur parts, God help you if you live in the mainland with far more terrible roads... You'll be just one trip to the mechanic to be back to ground zero. Let's not twist it up, of course you'll make 'profit' by taking ok to mediocre trips, but you'll be running ur business into the ground slowly, seeing only today without looking at tomorrow is a trap... You gotta make enough profit to cushion for expensive repairs which will INEVITABLY come in this line of work, many are forced to borrow. My opinion is, only take 'ok' trips when you need to leave a dead area(like vi). The trip below is heartbreaking, how bad things have got, last year, this same trip will be nothing short of 14k, but today look... May God help us, so does this fall under 'ok' trips or? Where is the line.?
If u don't know d difference between an Ok trip and a bad trip after 5yrs of driving, then u need to unlearn everything u know and and relearn.
It may be subjective to an extent, but overall full-time drivers know a good trip, an okay trip and a bad trip.

Secondly, U that only do few trips daily, didn't ur car still spoil? I keep telling u guys, as long as u are doing ehailing with ur car d maintenance is fairly the same across board whether u work like jacky or u do soft work. Just be responsible, dont enter bad roads rampantly and don't abuse the car.
If u pity d car and don't have money, when d car eventually spoils u will still borrow to fix it.

My brother sorry u found my last comments offensive. this is what I meant. If ojodu to Ikeja for 4000 is average for you then it means same trip for 2000 or 2500k will be poor. Let's assume u normally gross 60k daily meaning you might need to complete 15 trips to achieve this on average price.

Now cause we want to 'work' and don't want to 'wait' you accept prices of 2000-2500 completing 24 trips or so to achieve same 60k. Now tell me won't your pocket be full but are you still profitable?

When u can even be more methodological and look for even above average prices and maybe do 7 or 9 trips. But you wait longer. Like the man that posted . 9am to 9pm only 6 trips.

So my friend you can actually do more trips to meet up ur target and yet not make money. Someone going to Ikeja from Ojodu to work might just wanna make his fuel money back and accept 1500 or 2000 but can an ehailing driver do that? For me I'll rather be parked and waiting than just driving around Lagos. And it works for me.

Cause funny enough you ALWAYS have juicy trips EVERYDAY on indrive. Some riders don't wanna waste their time or urs. Just u have to always be looking at d screen to snatch and grab once d opportunity presents.

Please no hard feelings. U na Egbon for this thread
I guess u misunderstood my post.
I didn't say u should do rubbish trips.
I clearly said while waiting for the perfect trip, don't ignore or miss d okay trips that can still make u go home happy.
Someone said he completed his first trip around 9/10am and didn't get another perfect trip till around 2pm. There is no way this person didn't see okay trips while waiting for 4hrs but because he is waiting for the perfect trip he wasted 4hrs.
I can't advocate or encourage u guys to do rubbish trips.

Doing a 4k trip for 2,500 is not okay but rubbish, and if u embark on such trips d majority of the day, u can't make significantly more money than someone doing average or good trips. I think what u are explaining now is d reverse of what u said before. I was just curious to know how u can do rubbish trips and go home with 70k as against 40k on good trips all things being equal. Obviously that's not possible.
If we are talking about going anywhere; both bad roads and dangerous areas it's possible, but if d fare alone is d considering factor then it's not possible.

Advocating for a meaningful rental fee is not 'using' person or slavery as you wish to call it... as bad as the fares are, one can still take home 25-30k working 6am to 6pm. Its not rocket science.

Save 10-15k daily for the car owner.. how bad can that be?..

...also you can't tell people to invest in Keke, when they have chosen to invest in ehailing. If my coconut head says I should invest in Ehailing, best believe me, I'm coming up with terms to secure my investment, its not emotion, its business. Friendship no they for business.
Leave that guy, u have already said it all. He should buy car and give it out for 30k.
Until then, whatever he says is just his opinion written on tissue paper.
Any driver that can't save 10k a day for the owner of the car i.e 60k a week for rentals is a thief. Forget the excuse of poor fares. 60k is d minimum.
When I started this business I will use 3days money to complete my rent or HP. Now people are doing their rent in one day. Driver will now enjoy 5/6 days money and remit only one day money. Haba. Then when issues rise it's only owner that will carry d load. Never. Like u said rent shouldn't be less than 100k at the moment but people are actually magnanimous to leave it at 50-70k. Anybody asking for 30k is a bandit.
