1 DIVISION TRAINING SCHOOL, WARRANT OFFICER ACADEMY CONCLUDE JOINT FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE IN JAJI In a strategic move to bolster operational efficiency and foster inter-unit camaraderie, the 1 Division Training School (DTS) successfully conducted the final Field Training Exercise (FTX) for SHINING STAR Course IX/26. The exercise, codenamed EX BUGUN DOKI, was held in collaboration with the Warrant Officers Academy (WOA) Course 47, which provided the essential command and control framework. The intensive four-day exercise took place at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI) Training Area in Jaji from Thursday, 26 February to Sunday, 1 March 2026. Designed to test troops against a controlled adversary, EX BUGUN DOKI provided students of EX SHINING STAR IX/26 with practical immersion in battle drills, Counter-Insurgency (COIN) operations, Ambush/Counter-Ambush tactics, and IED clearance. Participants also underwent rigorous training in raid operations, enemy camp neutralization, and advanced map reading. These modules are specifically designed to actualize the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu. The 1 Division Training Officer (DTO), Brigadier General Abdullahi Hassan Gwani, emphasized that this joint collaboration ensures training synergy. He noted that the exercise aligns with the COAS’s vision: "To advance the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environments." The Commandant, Warrant Officers Academy, Brigedier General Anthony Wende who spoke through Lieutenant Colonel Zeerenjo Aguomba remarked that such training is the bedrock of preparedness, stressing that rigorous simulation prepares personnel to operate effectively, safely, and lawfully under the high-pressure environment of active combat. He further expressed his gratitude to the COAS for the continued support and resources provided for troop development. Key highlights of the FTX included a 10-kilometer tactical advance, section and company-level battle procedures, and defensive routines encompassing patrols, search and rescue operations, and precision raids. NIGERIAN ARMY NEUTRALISES TERRORISTS, ARRESTS 20 SUSPECTS, RECOVERS ARMS AND LOGISTICS IN 24-HOUR NATIONWIDE ONSLAUGHT The Nigerian Army (NA), in sustained multi-theatre operations across the country in the last 24 hours, has recorded decisive operational successes, neutralising 3 terrorists, securing the surrender of 1 terrorist family member, arresting 20 suspects and recovering a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, logistics, stolen crude, illicit drugs, rustled livestock and criminal enablers, in a relentless push to degrade terrorist networks and criminal syndicates nationwide. In the North East and North West, troops neutralised 2 terrorists in Zamfara and repelled ISWAP/JAS elements in Borno, recovering one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, one PKT machine gun with 70 rounds of 7.62x54mm ammunition, as well as assorted logistics. Additionally, troops intercepted 5 fabricated rifles from a suspected gunrunner in Kaduna, arrested logistics suppliers in Borno and Kogi and safely diffused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Zamfara, preventing potential civilian casualties. Across the North Central and Southern theatres, sustained raids and intelligence-led operations in Benue, Taraba, Abia, Cross River, Rivers, Delta and Kogi States led to the recovery of one pump-action shotgun, one double-barrel gun, one Dane gun, one MAC-4 rifle, one locally fabricated pistol, 9 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, multiple cartridges, knives, communication devices, motorcycles, cash and assorted charms. Several suspects linked to kidnapping, arms trafficking, drug peddling and impersonation of military personnel were apprehended and handed over for further action. In the Niger Delta, anti–oil theft operations uncovered about 45,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil, 16 sacks of illegally refined petroleum products estimated at 960 litres, and dismantled two illegal refining sites with ovens, reservoirs and crude waste, dealing a heavy blow to oil theft and economic sabotage networks. Furthermore, troops rescued kidnapped victims in Kogi State, recovered 58 rustled sheep in Sokoto, intercepted narcotics and arrested suspected collaborators of criminal gangs, reinforcing public safety and restoring confidence in affected communities. The Nigerian Army remains resolute and relentless in its nationwide offensive, sustaining aggressive operations to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks, recover illicit weapons, protect civilians, secure critical national assets, and decisively rid the nation of all forms of criminality. |

bidexiii:TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI CRUSH MULTIPLE ISWAP ATTACKS IN GAJIRAM, GAJIGANA , MAYANTI, RECOVER HEAVY ARMS AND AMMUNITIONS Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have once again demonstrated resilience and battlefield dominance by decisively foiling coordinated ISWAP attacks on Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) Mayanti, Gajigana and Gajiram, while intensifying offensive operations across Sector 2. The failed assaults, launched between the late hours of 28 February and early hours of 1 March 2026, underscore the growing desperation of terrorist elements under sustained pressure on their enclaves, logistics corridors and leadership structures. While the attack on Gajigana was successfully thwarted troops maintaining full control of their position, the encounters at Mayanti and Gajiram resulted in significant terrorist casualties and the recovery of substantial combat equipment. OPHK’s sustained offensive posture continues to deny terrorists freedom of action, forcing them into disorderly retreats with heavy losses. On 28 February 2026, FOB Mayanti came under heavy attack by a large number of terrorists. Gallant troops held firm despite intense enemy fire, as reinforcements fought through ambush and IED threats to rout the attackers. Exploitation confirmed five terrorist corpses and the recovery of three PKT automatic anti-aircraft guns, two RPG-7 tubes, four AK-47 rifles, two FN rifles, three RPG bombs and large quantities of 7.62mm ammunition, with blood trails indicating additional casualties. Sadly, an officer paid the supreme price. Similarly, at about 0115 hours on 1 March 2026, terrorists armed with PKT guns, RPGs and armed drones attacked FOB Gajiram but were repelled by determined troops supported by air assets. Three terrorist bodies were recovered along the withdrawal route, alongside four AK-47 rifles, five anti-tank bombs, three locally fabricated mortar bombs, one armed drone, six fully loaded 7.62mm NATO magazines, barbed wire cutters, specialised ammunition, poisoned arrows and other items abandoned in flight, while one wounded soldier was airlifted by a Nigerian Army Aviation helicopter for advanced medical care. In related offensive actions under Sector 2, troops engaged terrorists at Kayawa Village, forcing them to flee and abandon a tricycle, 3 motorcycles and five bicycles. Troops destroyed identified life-support structures, arrested two confessed ISWAP logistics suppliers and recovered drugs and medical consumables used for treating wounded terrorists. Additionally, during an ambush around Bulturam Corner and Dadingel in Gujba LGA, troops neutralised two terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, a bicycle and other sundry items. All locations remain firmly under own control, and the scale of recoveries and confirmed enemy losses further underscores the degrading combat capacity of ISWAP elements. MILITARY AIR PRECISION BOMBARDMENT NEUTRALISES OVER 50 TERRORISTS AFTER ATTACK ON NGOSHE IN BORNO The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has neutralised over 50 suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists following precision air strikes on their withdrawal routes after a failed attack on Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno. Sources told Zagazola Makama that the officer said the terrorists had, at about 7:30 p.m. on March 3, launched a coordinated assault on artillery positions in Ngoshe, a community located about 12 kilometres from Pulka and 31 kilometres from Gwoza town. “The insurgents attempted to overrun the artillery positions in a surprise evening attack. Troops on ground responded effectively but conducted a tactical withdrawal under intense fire to preserve personnel and equipment while reinforcements were being mobilised,” he said. The sources explained that the insurgents had adopted a hit-and-withdraw tactic, abandoning the scene before reinforcement troops fully secured the area. The sources added that additional troops were immediately deployed, while surveillance platforms tracked the fleeing terrorists along identified withdrawal corridors. “Upon receipt of real-time intelligence from ground troops, the surveillance aircraft were scrambled to engage the terrorists on their egress routes. The terrorists were sighted moving in clusters in both locations. “Precision bombardment was conducted on confirmed target clusters and movement trails. Battle Damage Assessment indicates that over 50 terrorists were neutralised in two separate strike runs,” the officer said. “The air-ground synergy under Operation Hadin Kai ensured that although the terrorists attempted to escape into forested enclaves, they were decisively engaged from the air. “The strikes also disrupted their logistics and mobility capability within the Ngoshe–Pulka corridor,” he said. The sources further stated that clearance and area domination operations were ongoing to forestall any regrouping attempts by the insurgents. He noted that the Ngoshe–Gwoza axis remains a historically volatile corridor due to intermittent activities of Boko Haram and ISWAP remnants exploiting difficult terrain and proximity to cross-border forest zones. “Operation Hadin Kai remains resolute in sustaining offensive pressure. The message is clear any attempt to attack our positions will attract overwhelming and coordinated firepower,” he said. He assured residents of Gwoza and surrounding communities of the military’s commitment to protecting lives, supporting resettlement efforts, and consolidating gains recorded in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in Borno. |
