To be honest, even if Khamenei is dead, I don't think his death is enough to topple the regime..

The IRGC is an institution and it is embedded deeply into the fabric of governance and civil service in Iran...
I'm not even sure killing a thousand officials would topple them...

It has to be said though that if the SL is dead, then internal conflicts and disagreements that have been festering might just rip open and end the regime via internal turmoil and infighting...

See what happened after Syria was torn apart by internal strife.


Iran has a population of more than 90 million people.

What is the end goal here, Iran won't be occupied, and I don't think Trump and his Cabinet are competent enough to topple this regime and transition it properly...
This is just my initial thought though, they may have made preparations on who to install and how to run the government without a lot of conflicts within, we can't know until we get there...

Iran had a deal that was negotiated by Obama, which they'd kept (at least, appeared to do.)

Trump ripped it up. Same way he negotiated CUSMA in his first term and is now saying Mexico and Canada are ripping y'all off.


Plus, look at history. Régime change in MENA has NEVER worked for peace. The gulf War led directly to Al Qaeda and possibly 9/11 and other terrorist attacks. Retaliation for that led to ISIS. Syria intervention led to the migrant crisis that nearly swallowed western Europe whole and possibly accelerated Brexit.


Much as I despise the age-old approach in Cuba, that's far better than armed intervention. It never turns out well. For anybody.

I agree with you, the above is what I wrote earlier...Who knows how it will turn out, there are militant groups in Iran that can and will take advantage of the chaos, an IRGC in civil war within themselves, Islamic groups that will want to uphold their fundamentalism(both local and foreign)..Iran is ripe for complete destabilisation that will spill over..

The thought that keeps me optimistic though is that, from everything I've read, the Iranian People are very chill and secular so who knows, things might just work out...
