OSUN IN TURMOIL Adeleke’s Re-Election Bid on the Brink as Accord Crisis Explodes

Osun State — Political tension is rising across the state following the sudden appearance of posters bearing the image of Clement Bamigbola Kolawole as a factional gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party in several local government areas.

The development has triggered fresh controversy within the Accord structure, casting uncertainty over the political future of Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the coming election cycle.

At the center of the crisis is a pending case before the Federal High Court challenging the recognition by INEC of the Maxwell-led faction of the Accord Party, which reportedly produced Adeleke as its gubernatorial flagbearer.

In a dramatic twist, another group of party members has filed a fresh suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking the cancellation of the alleged banning of Maxwell and Ajaja as party executives. The new case, marked FHC/Abj/CS/351/2026, is expected to further intensify the internal struggle for control of the party.

Political analysts warn that a prolonged legal battle could weaken party cohesion and create uncertainty around candidate legitimacy if not swiftly resolved.

Beyond the courtroom disputes, the Adeleke administration is grappling with additional political headwinds.

Recent allegations concerning workers’ salary irregularities within the state government have generated public debate, though investigations and due legal processes are ongoing. Meanwhile, reports of defections by federal lawmakers from Osun to the All Progressives Congress (APC) have amplified concerns within the governor’s political camp.

Opposition voices argue that the cumulative impact of internal party instability and shifting political alliances could affect voter confidence. Supporters of the governor, however, insist that Adeleke retains significant grassroots appeal and remains a formidable force in Osun politics.

Political observers say the governor’s immediate survival strategy may depend on three critical factors: the outcome of the ongoing court cases, the ability to unify warring factions within the Accord Party, and sustained public confidence in his administration’s performance.

While factional crises are not uncommon in Nigerian politics, history suggests that prolonged internal disputes often reshape electoral landscapes in unpredictable ways.

As legal proceedings continue and political alignments evolve, Osun’s political atmosphere grows increasingly charged. Whether this turbulence signals a temporary storm or a decisive shift in the state’s power dynamics remains to be seen.

For now, one thing is certain: Osun is heading into a high-stakes political season where every court ruling, alliance, and defection could redefine the future of Governor Adeleke and the state’s leadership trajectory.

He is an opportunist not a politician. A good politician will find all possible means to port to APC, can you imagine a sitting governor been rejected by APC! He is a gooner!!
If he wins through ballot, which I doubt, court will remove him.

Same format, same MO.
Since Tinubu came into power every single political party, civil organisation or pressure group that poses a threat is suddenly factionalised.
They cannot win elections, they cannot convince the people because they cannot perform. so they sabotage the opposition from the inside and steal thier way to power.

CAN faction
PDP faction
LP faction
ADC faction
SDP faction
NNPP
NLC faction
Ohaneze faction
Afenifere faction
NEF faction

Every single thing he touches he destroys

They are afraid of going to the polls with the governor because of his achievement in every local government of the state.

All this is a gimmick to distract the governor.

..abi..tinubu wants to control everything in Nigeria...the INEC , elections in Nigeria, political parties, all the states in Nigeria, court, EFCC, national assembly, police ..turn Nigeria to a one party state..it's a pity

Instead of them to cooperate among themselves.. opportunity for accord party to have a governor.. Adeleke has more chances of winning the election more better than the other candidate clement Bamigbola..so let them cooperate with Adeleke incumbent governor and win the election...or they is an external influence causing all this problems

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has retained his current deputy as his running mate for the August 8 governorship election.

It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for Governor Adeleke to win a second term in Osun State. Those APC guys in the state are simply too much for him and his team to contend with.

Governor Adeleke does not seem to be helping himself either. You do not appear to have smart people around you to advise and guide you properly, and I also hear that you are concentrating infrastructural development only in your hometown, Ede.

Whoever thinks those factional members of the Accord party are acting alone is a novice. The fear of the apc is the beginning of .......

It's all about money. Was Bamigbola thinking of contesting before? Adeleke should call the other faction from the top to the state level and "find something" for them. They just want a bite of the cake.

Adeleke will beat APC blue black and Tinubu has assured not interfere bcoz Accord Party has understanding with Tinubu for 2027 general election.
