You'll have a very serious problem if you come here with this mentality. Lagos is not a no man’s land — it's the ancestral home of many of us,and we are Yoruba. This is 2026,those who think they can disrespect our land and our culture will only have themselves to blame. I don't think Lagos is the right place for you — try Enugu.

Now let me advise you properly — in the spirit of love and survival:

1. Traffic will test your ancestors.
You will leave home at 7am and still arrive “yesterday.” Learn patience. Download podcasts. Consider learning Mandarin in traffic — you’ll become fluent before Third Mainland Bridge clears.


2. Cost of living?
Lagos will humble your calculator. You’ll go out for “small outing” and your bank app will start breathing heavily. Always ask, “How much?” twice. The first answer is for tourists.


3. Networking is oxygen.
In Lagos, your cousin’s neighbor’s barber might be your next big plug. Be nice. Shake hands. Save numbers. Lagos runs on vibes and connections.


4. Your village people are now upgraded.
Not spiritual ones — the “opportunity” ones. Everybody is selling something. If someone says, “I have one small investment for you,” hold your wallet like it’s your newborn child.


5. Accommodation hunting?
Agents will show you a house that looks like a music video on WhatsApp. When you arrive, it looks like a crime documentary. Inspect everything. Even the ceiling fan.


6. Soft life?
You said you’re ready to leave your comfort zone. Good. Because NEPA will also leave you. Frequently.

I have to remind u b4 apc or acn or even ac Lagos eko has existed and has been the land of milk and honey for all tribes to not only contribute but also enjoy.

Lagos is congested. We have other states in Nigeria you can migrate to and still become successful in your hustle.
States like Anambra, Enugu, Ibadan, Imo, Ogun, Kano, PH, Delta are great place to go. You don't have to go to Lagos.
And remove that trâśh mentality from your head that Lagos is a no man's land. Lagos belongs to the YORUBAS. They control everything there and decides the economic and political direction of the state.

Why discourage the guy from coming or relocating to Lagos! Haba! Nigerians. Rather than just advise him on how to stay defensive and to come prepared with an open mind.

The only thing I supported in all you typed was the "no man's land mentality". He shouldn't make the mistake of saying that in the presence of the Yorubas so he doesn't get cooked!

Don't joke with that Lekki belt, the free trade zone or the Apapa Sea Port part, you can be living far away but eye that part for work

If u're driving and see danfo driver follow a route check very before U follow. Cos latsman rarely book danfos, and they use them to confuse private vehicles.

Get accomodation that's affordable. Lagos landlords increase rents almost every yr

I like your belief in the Lagos potentials. That's a good thing. Forget all those saying all sorts up there. I only have a few words for you.

1. If you've gone to school, don't leave your certificates behind. Keep your resume up to date.

2. If you've got skills, upgrade it and be very good in it.

3. If you've not got any, make sure you have a godfather, who is ready to finance you and show you the way (legit way I mean). If you get yourself entangled in a shady or illegal means, you will blame ever coming.

4. This is the most important! Never say or repeat the "Lagos is a no man's land" to the Lagosians or Yorubas. They will cook you raw ! Lagos belongs to the Yorubas and you are bound to love and respect them as your hosts.

5. Lastly, obey the laws of the land to avoid having issues with the law enforcement agencts.
