Iran was always prepared for an attack. They knew it would come and they were actively preparing for it.

Just as the US and Israel used the negotiations as a cover to move in all the assets they needed and try to bribe their way into the inner setup of the IRGC, which they failed to do, Iranian intelligence also used that time frame to gather indepth Intel about the US assets in the region and beyond.

It was that indepth Intel---theirs plus the ones they got and still getting from Russia and China---is the reason they were able to respond very quickly to the first wave of attack from the aggressor.

As we speak, there are Chinese recon assets currently sailing in the ME. They are actively supporting Iran with Intel.
