The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, today March 2, 2026 received the remains of the Senator representing Rivers South-East, Barinada Mpigi at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Minister, who arrived at the airport at about 5:30am, with other dignitaries, also received the wife of the late senator, Patricia Obiageri Mpigi and his children.

Senator Mpigi died in London on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the age of 64.

The Minister had earlier visited the wife and children of the deceased in London, last week Thursday, to commiserate with them and make arrangements for the movement of his remains to Nigeria.

Fubara may do so or appoint someone to recieve it when it gets to Port Harcourt, he cannot leave River's state or send someone to do that in another state, administratively its wrong, Wike is in other to do so in Abuja.

It's so funny how national resources are being wasted especially in this period of extreme financial stress for people in the country. Why did Woke have to travel to pay condolences last week for a body that was still coming to the country, he's just doing everything to ensure he controls the swing of where the replacement senator comes from. I was expecting the rivers state government to send a representative to receive the body, but as wike be wike, na him receive the body.....

Wike is the FCT minister and a pdp member, the governor have since decamped to APC, the governor will receive that in River though if he is interested. You people shouldn't use this for a political mingo
