Seun nairaland is okay the way it is with the little modifications you have done over time.
Appearance is okay don't change anything o

My own is simple, why is it that on Sundays anti Christian topics /controversial issues are always pushed to FP.That should stop please , only christain edifying contents should be there representing the chriatin posts on Sundays.

And we need very strict mods like the sexkillz of old.

Why does someone need to swear and agree to certain terms before commenting on a Muslim posts?

But this feature is not available in Christian posts?

Don't you think that there are non Muslim that would like to interact and engage with Muslim brothers and sisters, just like our Muslim brothers and sisters already are able to interact and engage Christians in their postshuh huh
Since April 25th 2025, swearing on muslim posts before commenting has been disabled.

Just increase the time one can block a disturbing moniker from 3 weeks to 3 months. 3 weeks is too small
Seun should put a permanent block too. There are some monikers I want to block permanently.

1. The design is simple and ok. It doesn’t need much changes👍

2. Work more on promoting it to be the top 1 Nigerian/ African forum like Reddit. Very important!

3. More original contents

4. We need more Nigerians/ Africans to be a part of this site, so it can be lively.

Hello Nairalanders,

I'm Seun, the founder of Nairaland. Talk to me about what Nairaland is like for you. What's good and what's not so good right now.

I've been more focused on the backend and working on new features. It seems as if the moderation and other issues have fallen behind.

So, talk to me. What should we focus on in order to encourage you to start being more active on Nairaland?

PS: I have people dropping me messages presuming that Nairaland is over. What's that about? huh
Instead of the regular pagination that litters the forum, include some kinda autoload function when you scroll to the end of the page.

Allow people sort comment either by time or likes - this allows OP and others find the most relevant answers

Make Nairaland a go to site, promote it more.
It’s too boring. We need more active members

If anyone gets banned the bot should be able to tell the person that got banned the exact rule broken so that one will not make same mistake. Not just the you got banned cos of so so comment on so so post. One should know exactly the offence committed so as not to repeat the same thing.
Seun, look into this too. If temporary banned, make us know the offense, then label the offensive words used, so that users can avoid making such comments again.

I'm in total support of this 💯 percent. E no easy to write content and then the content makes it to the front page. Contributors should be rewarded. It's serves as a sort of encouragement to create more contents. I usually feel bad each time I devote my time to write quality contents and such contents make it to the front page and I don't get any reward for that. whenever I tell my sister, she laughs me to scorn. She will be like "while other are making cool cash from their contents, I'm busy doing charity work with mine". I feel so bad each time she says that. 😢

@seun
Seun, this one as well. Create an AI that can down vote AI-written posts and encourage human-written posts.

Let userns not turn the forum to an AI slop.

Moderation needs to up their game

One can't make a comment or express opinions without some people quoting one and being very abusive or calling one names. Especially in the politics section.

Also we seem to have a misogyny problem as well as to a lesser extent a misandry problem. So much hate for either sex. With people posting things like this gender are all harlots, this gender are all this or that.

Also one can't deactivate account, change user name or change emails. That's a big problem.

On the plus side, the block feature is very useful indeed.

Thanks
This one as well. Especially the change username or emails, with public records of change just like X, for users to check if the moniker is a potential scammer.

Try to imagine Facebook, Whatsapp or Instagram still maintaining the same look since they started

Thanks for your idea for this great site.

I want to advice that you create a section for ATP (Africa's Traditional Practices) which encompasses our (founding fathers') traditional religion, wisdom, worldview and way of life.

Next, let Christian section be "Christianity", there shouldn't be any etc, create section for etc.

Someone said "your cup will soon be filled", I pray that his cup would be filled much earlier for whatever his wish is for you. No weapon formed against you shall prosper.

It beat my imagination the level of cowardice that makes you give Islam such "emirate" or overbearing level of treatment and protection on this platform. Does it still buy you their sympathy?

The religion and the time-honoured worldviews of our fathers' must be well studied, honoured and understood. Just as we respect every borrowed religion.

They won't respect ours elsewhere more than we do that of others'. Charity begins at home, we don't need to go to Brazil to learn about Santeria that started in Yoruba/Dahome/Congo.

Let every religion be represented with deserved reverence and put swearing an oath on everyone.

Make it possible for authors to delete unwanted comments and original threads.
This!!!!

Any moniker who makes a post have the right to delete offensive comments. That will quickly sanitize the platform. Also, comments that are not offensive but deliberately deleted by the author should be reinstated by the super mod.

This will present a balanced and healthy forum.

I'm a Christian, I believe in human experience and the freedom of religion. For instance, you can't impose your "idea" on me as a "do or die affair" because your "juju" that you claimed create the world ask you to do so, when I don't impose mine on you.

I might even not be interested in your "paradise", therefore, no religion should impose itself on others. If you can't give charity to show you are a better human due to your religion, don't bring "death and conquest" as "pathway" to your political "paradise" disguised as "salvation".

Let everybody protect their homeland and not allow 'religious armed robbers" to steal their peace and turn families against one another.

Jesus Christ did not buy a plot of land or build a church, he only taught that you can be a better person, and also have hope in afterlife. That's like a little peace to have as you run the race of being a human on earth.

You or your mods love topics that fuel tribal bigotry here hence such topics are pushed to the front page without wasting time.

I used to love Nairaland but now I only come here to watch the foolishness of the people of Nigeria where they keep fighting themselves defending their oppressors.

I am one of the writers in the Literature section of Nairaland. I am writing this to respectfully share a concern that has been on my mind for a while.

I was the first and, as far as I know, the only writer to reach 2 million views in the Literature section. (COUNTLESS, a story of sex betrayal and vengeance) . When I started writing on the platform, (back in 2017) the energy was very high. Readers were active, writers were motivated, and there was healthy competition for the top spot. It pushed many of us to give our best.

Unfortunately, things have changed.

The current treatment and support for writers is not encouraging. Many writers are losing motivation, and the strong competition that once made the Literature section lively is gradually fading away. It feels like the section is no longer receiving the attention it deserves

.
I believe the Literature section still has great potential if a few improvements are considered.

Here are some humble suggestions:

Feature outstanding stories regularly on the front page to give writers more visibility.

Bring back the monthly or quarterly awards for top-performing writers and stories.

Create pinned guides or support threads to help new writers grow and stay motivated.

Improve moderation in the Literature section to reduce spam and keep discussions quality.

Consider partnerships, contests, or reading challenges that can bring readers back and revive healthy competition.

Boss, many of us are passionate about writing and about the platform. We simply want to see the Literature section grow again and become vibrant like it used to be.

Thank you for your time and for building a platform that has helped many Nigerian writers find their voice. I sincerely hope our concerns will be considered.
Warm regards,

Modified. - here is the link to my ongoing story.

I remember those years. I sleep and wake up in nairaland literature section. It was competitive then. You can select best genre of your choice among the bests. I do check there once in a while now and it is like a graveyard section. I hope it can become lively like before again.

Dear Seun, your forum became very popular in the early because years because it was able to attract millennials who were intrigued by the idea of expressing themselves openly on an anonymous forum. Those millennials are now married and struggling with mid life crisis. Majority can no longer keep up with the forum.

Sadly, the forum has failed to attract Gen-Zs. Unlike millennials, these guys are not intrigued by the idea of posting on an anonymous forum. They were in the internet age and they grew up with using so many social media platforms. YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook all saw the problem and they all decided to monetize content creation. That is how they were able to attract and keep Gen-Zs. It’s time Nairaland starts monetizing content creation. If not, the forum may not survive the next 10 years.

On moderation, the bot is doing just fine. Yes, it can be better programmed to perform better. But overall, it has brought sanity to the forum. Don’t listen to those telling you to remove it.

Again, please don’t listen to those claiming to be political victims of the forum. Some people just like to claim to be victim but what they want is a total domination of the forum without any room for opposing views. Two of the moderators of the politics section who can push topics to the home page are supporters of Peter Obi. Still, they are the ones trying to tell you the forum is biased towards APC. So, what do they really want? All three moderators to be obidients? That must not happen. If possible, please develop an AI that can push threads to home page. That way, human bias will be removed from the process.

Finally, it’s create to create and deploy a Nairaland AI. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp etc all have one. Searching for anything on the forum is just horrible. You can never get a near accurate result of what you’re looking for. With a Nairaland AI, the searching experience will be very improved.
