Barau Declares Interest In Zamfara Central Senatorial Seat Under ADC by ogugwa1992(op): 6:28am On Mar 03
Abdulhafiz Umar Barau, popularly known as Dan Isan Gusau/Magayakin Tsafe, has formally declared his intention to contest the Zamfara Central Senatorial District seat under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Barau made the declaration shortly after completing his official registration as a member of the party, stating that his decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders, community leaders, youths, and political associates across the district.

According to him, his aspiration is driven by a desire to provide focused and accountable representation at the National Assembly.

“I am stepping forward not out of personal ambition, but out of the conviction that Zamfara Central deserves focused, responsive, and accountable representation at the National Assembly,” he said.

He outlined his legislative priorities to include advocacy for improved security, youth empowerment, agricultural revitalisation, educational development, and transparent governance.

Barau also disclosed plans to return to Nigeria soon to commence a comprehensive round of consultations, stakeholder engagements, and grassroots interactions across the senatorial district.

“My commitment is to listen first, build consensus, and present a people-driven legislative agenda that reflects the real needs of our communities,” he added.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC and pledged to work with the party leadership to strengthen internal democracy and unity ahead of the forthcoming electoral cycle.

The Zamfara Central Senatorial District remains a key constituency in the country’s democratic landscape, and Barau expressed confidence that collective efforts would usher in renewed representation anchored on integrity and service.

Further details of his district-wide engagements and policy framework are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

It is his right , nobody can stop that him from contesting… I know ADC will put up a good fight during general election since nobody can even go to any other party after their primary..

Good thing about the new electoral act...

There is no room for a placeholder in another party..

You can't contest primaries under APC..lose and run to ADC...

The window for party membership registrations would have closed.

So, na serious political calculations before you decide.

Before election it will just be two party which is APC and ADC. Politicians betrayed Nigerians that is the reason for the low outcome in the last election at FCT. Look at the LP politicians that were voted for they all left to APC. People that would never had won an election if not due to Obi coming to LP.

False Information

Under previous versions of the Electoral Act (e.g., 2022), the law made it an offence to be nominated as a candidate for more than one party at the same time , you cannot hold nomination forms with two parties simultaneously for the same election but it did not bar someone who merely ran in a party’s primary and lost from seeking nomination from another party afterward.

The key rule is that a “candidate” someone already nominated and presented to INEC cannot be nominated by two parties at the same time, but someone who was just an “aspirant/contested primary and lost” isn’t barred from being picked by another party.

That's Nigerian politics and politicians for you. Selfish to the core. No ideology. No masses-mindedness.

You don't understand...I am talking about Electrical Act 2026, not the Electoral Act 2022 where party membership was challenged in court and court ruled majorly on "locus" if those who brought the case

In new electoral act 2026, Section 77 was majorly on party's membership register. It has deadline for submission of the register and also, it bars political parties from using old register.
Meaning that, once the register is submitted and you are not a member of that party, there is no way you will lose primaries in another party and rush to new party. The window for membership registration would have closed

Let me tell you this:

If a bandit leader, that is "wanted" by the security agencies, contest for this election, as far as he positions himself as a religious leader,

HE WILL WIN!

Politicians who have penchant for moving when result does not favour them are always very wicked and unforgiving, Even if they can't decamp they either work against or stay neutral.
They are a special breed from hell.
E.g Ameachi, El rufai, Aregbesola, Obi I can mention alot more. And there is a common factor, they are all in adc

With the combination of Dauda Lawal, AbdulAzeez Yari and Muhammad Matawallen, the ambition of Barau may not see the light of the day.
