Its not possible to dissolve constitutionally recognised Regions by broadcast, it can only be done by Decree because it has to be gazetted law. When Gowon was abolishing the 4 Regions Nigeria had, and created 12 states to replace them, he used Decree 14 below, which was duly gazzeted. So anyone telling you that the Regions can be abolished by broadcast alone, without showing you the Decree that enforces it, is talking nonsense
Listen to Gen Ironsi telling you what he did

At least you cannot accuse Ironsi of lying against himself

Read Decree 14, you cannot accuse Ironsi of what Gowon did in his own Decree which says

"There shall on commencement of this Decree, be created out of the Regions, states"

That was the dismantling of the Regional Autonomous Power

Gen Ironsi controlled those states and they lost their independent Law making Powers

The Western Region had all its assets seized by the FG including its UK Embassy building on Great Portland Street in London

Before Ironsi the Western Region had its own Embassy in London
Its diplomatic staff and assets were forcibly taken over by the Ironsi FG

Ironsi's decree 34 was a masterstroke !!!
In one swift move, it gave the country the "unity" that certain part of the country had been clamouring for. At the same time, it scuppered the Sardunna's "Northernisation Policy" which was seen as anti-unity.

Ironsi's Constitutional planning commitee were all igbos ;

Chief Francis Nwokedi: Appointed to advise on the unification of the public service and administration.

Dr. Pius Okigbo: Served as an adviser.

Colonel Patrick Anwunah: Served as an adviser.

Chike Onyiuke: Appointed as the Attorney General following the sacking of Taslim Elias.

Charles Onyeama 1945 prophesy springs to mind!!!

Exactly
It was a masterstroke of greed for power over Regions that were not Ironsi’s own

Meanwhile Ojukwu was fast asleep while Gen Ironsi was cancelling Regional Autonomy
and he didn’t wake up until he got to Aburi where he was complaining about the same
system that he supported Gen Ironsi to establish

It was after the North took power that Ojukwu understood that Ironsi had dug the East into a very deep hole
with his unification decree

Could you believe that every Region had it own separate Laws and Constitution before Ironsi struck

You are very ignorant and swallow.
The name Biafra was derived from the Bight of Biafra... a recognized geographical term long before the civil war. Nations are not required to bear names in a local dialect to have legitimacy. Many countries across the world have names that predate their modern ethnic compositions.

You are the deluded one if you think during wartime a sovereign entity should not issues its own currency. It's idiotic for a government fighting for survival continue to rely on the currency of it's enemies.
Every decision His Excellency General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu took was very perfect in every since. This is why he remains our hero till infinity. You can go and die
Bight of Biafra was originally Bight of Mafra.

Mafra was a Portuguese rally port in Cameroun and was named after a Portuguese port city in Portugal.

In dated maps from that era, the waters adjourning this Portuguese slaving port was abbreviated to Bi. Mafra just as Island was abbreviated to Is.

Over the years, the waters were simply called Biafra by the British who used old Portuguese maps were the lettering M had eroded and mistakenly referred to the waters as Biafra.

The name Biafra thus owes its origins to early Portuguese merchant vessels who dealt exclusively in slaves.

These early Portuguese merchants/sailors were all Marrano Juice and had no problem in dabbling in slave trade which was dominated exclusively by Portuguess and Dutch Jews.

So next time you scream Biafra, know that its origins has its roots in the barbaric and cruel J3wish Atlantic slave trade.

Out of all the 4 regional military Governors, only Ojukwu gleefully welcomed it.

Ejoor and his counterpart in the north condemned it.

Fajuyi for some reason, did not comment on the matter.

This goes to show that none of the 3 military governors from the north, western and mid-western region were carried along.

Gidgiddy, in his latest attempt at revisionism, attempted with this thread to claim other regional military governors were part of the process to abolish regions and centralize power.

This is totally false both Ejoor and the military governor of the northern region, were in shock when Ironsi made his decree 34.

Also, decree 34 was supposed to be announced on Jan 17 and the contents of that decree contain all the wet dreams of the Zikist Marxists that Ironsi had appointed into his military junta.

Ironsi delayed his announcement of decree 34 because of the tension in the land following the selective murder of politicians not from the East by the Ibo coupists.
Re: Aguiyi-ironsi And His Four Military Governors - Picture by gidgiddy(op): 11:13am On Mar 05
These people are just strange. First they said that Ironsi abolished the four Regions Nigeria had. Then they were presented with evidence that Ironsi had only 4 Military Governors throughout the six months he was in power, so it was not possible he did that.

Then they said he centralized powers and took our away powers from the Regions. It was Military rule, they will always centralize powers and take powers, its not democracy. You get decentralisation and powers back when you return to civilian rule

But what makes me laugh the most is that they were presented with Gowons Decree 14 that abolished the 4 Regions, and created 12 new states to replace them. The decree even told them expressly that Gowon was creating "States out of the Regions".

Then they were shown Gowons Decree 15 that suspended sections 141 and 164 of the constitution(resource control and revenue sharing formula agreed at independence). Which shows that all 4 Regions controlled their resources under Ironsi, no matter what Ironsi centralized. True federalism is all about resource control

Despite Gowons two Decrees in black and white telling them truth, they still choose to stand by their 60 year old lie that it was Ironsi that abolished the 4 Regions Nigeria had, and introduced unitary rule. They cant talk about Gowons Decree 14 and 15 because Gowon is a Northerner and not Igbo. So the have talk about Decree 34, a civil service decree, because Ironsi is Igbo. Some people are just iredeemable grin grin grin grin

Well, they can lie all they want, but Gowons Decree 14 and 15 will always be there to tell people the truth

Ojukwu’s statements at Aburi were very annoying to read especially when you know that he was part of Gen Ironsi’s coup
that sabotaged and destroyed the good Autonomous Regional system that the British left and which was working for the Regions

Only Muritala and Mobolaji Johnson replied Ojukwu the way he deserved to be treated.

Very arrogant behaviour
And when you get to the bottom of the matter you will even discover that Ojukwu didn’t love his
People enough to sacrifice himself for them, meanwhile Fajuyi because of “Omoluabi “sacrificed himself for Ironsi who
Created and mismanaged the whole situation in the first place because it would have been wrong for Fajuyi to have handed Ironsi
to his enemies without a struggle to save him .

When you look at the whole situation honestly Ironsi had the Chance to save Lt Col Pam, Maimalari and Ademulegun and his wife
but he just stepped aside as if he didn’t see or know what was going on despite the fact that the CID had informed Ironsi of the plan to kill
the officers and Politicians 2 weeks ahead of time Ironsi could have ordered there be no bloodshed even if he wanted to seize power

Fajuyi did the right thing but it was for the wrong person
