False news
Give us 10 most indebted nations in Africa. Stop adding ratio to GDP to hide the obvious.
No country in Africa borrows like Nigeria

That Senegal has one of the laziest population I have ever seen!

They are very lazy, yet the government borrows money and throw stipends at them as if they were rich like Switzerland.

What they used the debt to do would be well worth it compared to debt borrowed by Nigerian government. Nigerian debt doesn't translate to development, especially when it comes to curbing inflation, job availability, production, health care, education, security and social welfare.

Yes. The clown is a certain Obasanjo who secured certain debt relief for Nigeria. First, Nigeria was not there. If we were, it will be because of Buhari, which I am sure you supported with this same fervent stupidity.

I see some people are already celebrating grin grin, the usual culprits never disappoints. Now let me educate you lots.

We shouldn’t celebrate a statistic without real context.
We shouldnt celebrate missing out on this list, right?
That means we should have celebrated if our country made the list or we shouldnt have celebrated that too? Then we are nothing but a group of deppressed sadist if both having our name on the list/out of this list, shouldnt be celebrated at all

You need thorough cleansing. How can you analyse a situation like this and it ends in a lose-lose(sa-d) scenerio either the country made the list or not

God forbid i see negativity in all positivity

You completely missed the point.

Nobody said we should celebrate being on the list. The point is that we also shouldn’t automatically celebrate being off it without understanding the metric used.

Debt to GDP is just one indicator. What really matters is revenue strength, debt servicing capacity, and how productively borrowed funds are used. A country can have lower debt to GDP and still struggle if its revenue is weak. Its all about context not negativity.
Serious countries analyse data, they don’t cheer or boo headlines.

You’re mixing two different things.
Saying Nigeria’s revenue is low no mean say the only solution na to just increase taxes anyhow. That one no be serious thinking.

Government fit improve revenue by blocking leakages, widening the tax net, growing the economy, making more businesses enter the formal space, not by squeezing the same struggling people again.
This no be about loving or hating Tinubu. Na simple fiscal sense. Make we reason am well, no be everything be insult.

I just can’t understand why a news like this offends you.
Are we supposed to be upset that Nigeria isn’t on the list?

What do you want?
It doesn’t offend me. I’m not angry that Nigeria isn’t on the list. I’m just saying we shouldn’t turn every statistic into a victory parade without looking at the full picture.
If we’re doing well, good. But asking questions about revenue and debt repayment isn’t negativity, it’s basic common sense.
Nobody is wishing the country bad. I just prefer understanding the numbers properly instead of reacting emotionally.

Is that to say you prefer whe.n we were among the top 10 most indebted under Ebele n Buhari
No. That’s not what I said Oga.

This isn’t about preferring one administration over another. It’s about understanding what the numbers really mean. Being on the list isn’t good. Being off the list doesn’t automatically mean everything is fine either.

Debt sustainability is about revenue and repayment capacity, not just rankings. Now ask yourself honestly, looking around at your neighbors, the insecurity, the economy etc, can you really say Nigeria is doing well?

Nobody is turning anything into a victory parade. The numbers here simply shows that we are not as bad as others in this area

What does this mean to Nigerians?
Nigeria not being on this list might make some people happy and they know themselves, but it doesn’t automatically mean we are doing great.

Debt to GDP simply compares what a country owes to the size of its economy. Even if we’re not among the top 10, what really matters is: Can we comfortably pay our debts without struggling?

If a country earns little but borrows a lot, repayment becomes stressful even if it’s not on a “most indebted” list.
So instead of celebrating or arguing politics, the real question should be:
Are we growing the economy? Are we earning enough revenue? Is the borrowed money improving people’s lives?

That’s what truly matters.
bad belle. Now let's imagine Nigeria is in the picture, what will now be your response?
Na hatred go kpai some of you.
