Very good, southern governors should embrace this, if the north like let them allow their terrorists brothers finish them off in the north. Chochocho from your one bedroom apartment...we have community policing already, this is state police. It's on state by state basis, any state that don't want it should allow jihadists destroy their state. We are not joined in the hip, every state is different. Some states want jihadists terrorists to take over, so speak about your state. You are not from every state.

Personally, I do encourage state police but for the to be State Police, the police system needs to be revised holistically. Else, we still joking. Policing need to be decentralized. Not one man in Abuja running everything else. I don't know why it is difficult to do the right thing in this country.

My submission

Let the current police officers be posted to their states of origin

Let DPO be from that area and commissioner of police from that state appointed by the IGP after clearance from the PSC.

Let the mobile police force transform to a federal agency with people from different states

Let the population of each state be used to determine the number of state police, any state with excess should be transferred to the federal mobile force and any state with deficiency should be made up with the federal police pending adequate recruitment.

I would suggest an ACP in charge of each local government from that local government and rotated among the local government and reporting to the commissioner in the state capital.

The IGP and the PSC will monitor and control to ensure accountability and discipline

Federal Government maintains operational funding with a percentage deduction from state funds to support

Let Abuja be run by the federal police

Let us start with this method first, before considering handing police to state governors to control and administer….

If this method works efficiently, we can adjust as time goes on for any lapses

That is what state police is all about decentralisation. Most of you sound like kids...if not decentralisation, why have state police?

You can go tell your governor not to have it, you are not from every state, focus on your state.
