Did he back Obi in 2023 because he was desperate to block his former VP from becoming president huh

His former VP who has been extremely loyal and generous to him since before he became president after years in Abacha's prison, from which he was released a broke and bankrupt man huh

‘How Atiku saved Obasanjo from near bankruptcy before he emerged president’‘

A new book has revealed how former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, saved ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo from near bankruptcy before he emerged president in 1999.

According to the new book, entitled ‘’Too Good to Die: Third Term and the Myth of the Indispensable Man in Africa,’ Atiku made all his resources available for Obasanjo’s presidential campaign.

The book, written by former chairman of National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, Chidi Odinkalu, and Ayisha Osori, author of ‘’Love Does Not Win Elections,” also revealed how Obasanjo beat late Alex Ekwueme to the presidential ticket of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 1999 election.

Quoting an account from Atiku, the authors said the trio of Ibrahim Babangida, Theophilus Danjuma and Abdulsalami Abubakar wanted PDP to adopt Obasanjo as their presidential candidate “because they considered him the best person for the job.”

“Implicit in their position was their belief that they knew how to manipulate Obasanjo and the fact that Obasanjo did their bidding in 1979. They felt secure that he could be managed again,” the authors wrote.

Atiku was reportedly asked to join a team to Ogun to inform Obasanjo that he was going to run for the highest office in the land.

“When Atiku and Obasanjo discussed the call to serve as president, Obasanjo said he could not be president because he was a nearly bankrupt ex-convict. Atiku, through General (Aliyu) Gusau, paid money into Obasanjo’s account to begin his financial rehabilitation.

“Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar helped out by granting him an unconditional pardon. Atiku put everything he had at his disposal to support Obasanjo’s emergence as the PDP presidential candidate and, when he joined the ticket as the vice-presidential nominee, continued to make his assets available to Obasanjo and the campaign.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is indeed one of the best President Nigeria has had in terms of workers welfarism and developmental stride, it was during his time that he unbundled NITEL into the Wireless mobile network we are enjoying today, he brought smile into the face of Nigerian retired workers through the compulsory enactment of the Pension Scheme. Infact a fulfilling life sir. Nobody said he is perfect.

Happy birthday sir, one of the african finest.
But baba, you know say you don dey reach 95 so? But we don pardon you as you no lie. You once said you didn't know the month and year you were born and your parents were unfettered so, you adopted a particular age and you chose a day in the month of March to celebrate your birthday. You also said as a military recruit, you were permitted to use any age for enlistment.

All the above made millions of Nigerians, including myself to like you and be always proud of you. You may have your flaws as a human being but you remained the best Nigeria had ever had as a leader, unlike someone who's nearing 85 but cut 10 years away from his age, just to fulfill a lifetime ambition. He lied on so many grounds for fun, including his primary and secondary education without a single trace, when investigated by the alumni of the schools in ibadan.

You're a leader of exemplary character. Enjoy your day, ebora owu
he was not enlisted(common in war) and he was not a recruit(only officers can attain his rankings, my good sir.

Greatest because he was a stakeholder in almost all the key events that shaped Nigerian history, even till this day. And he is by far the most globally-recognised Nigerian (arguably). On leadership, he was a stellar leader. Murtala-Obasanjo and Obasanjo-Yaradua (1976 - 1979) is generally regarded as the golden era of the military: collegiate leadership, pro-people policies, little impunity and abuse of power (this does not mean they did not abuse power), international glory. And he return power back to civilian leadership.
When he came back to leadership in 1999, Nigeria has a GDP per capita of just 300, over 70% of our militant equipment was in ruin, we were in ruin, he stabilize the ship, and put us on a course to progress. The successor he selected is one of the best politician to come from the North and arguably one of the most decent. All these are verifiable fact. Do not fall for the propaganda of APC (thats if you are not a supporter of the party as well), but APC destroy Nigeria (this does not implies that Nigeria was ever great).
In addition, Olusegun Obasanjo almost became UN secretary-general.

He went to school yes, but was the oldest in his class. He joined late. Prof wole soyinka once tackled him on his age, saying he's much older that the age he's claiming. They both knew each other right from the grammar school

Happy birthday to one of the problems of Nigeria. You had the opportunity to fixed electrical system then but because of your corrupt mind you ignored everything how about Utafarm you put it under your private area and keep Nigerians hungry and make our youth useless.

Nothing to celebrate about our leaders apart from birthday.
People would say he brought phone to Nigeria which is where some people are getting it wrong, phone was at a global reach during his time as president so without him till now Nigeria can still use phone.

You failed your people.

From his roots to his age , he himself said that he doesn't know the exact year he was born and they are reports that he is from the eastern part of the country.
nevertheless, happy birthday to him.

At 89 still stronger than bulaba.
U don't see him visiting France or London Hospital for medical tourism as it is common with Bubu and Bulaba.
During his time as a president, he maintained the Federal Character Principle. Unlike what we have today where the Federal Character Commission has turned Tribalism/Nepotism Character Commission

Happy birthday to Baba.

Most respected living elder statesman.
An intellectual giant and outstanding leader respected all over the world.

A definition of the most favoured Nigerian: I have always wondered how he had to rule Nigeria again and again. Yet he remains relevant.

No doubt, he's a man of grace.
O' LORD, remember me too.

Congratulations Sir. ❤️❤️❤️
