ceejay80s: So what caused the hike ?I have read through a lot of comments and nobody is saying anything reasonable. Where does Dangote get his feedstock for his refinery from? What is happening to ships on the sea? Why is Nigeria dependent on imported petroleum products despite being a global petro-chemical supplier ? These are the issues which could insulate the country from speculation and external impacts, but that have not been resolved in years because your politicians over the past 2 decades are corrupt, and involved in oil bunkering. OIL BUNKERING & BAD POLITICS. That's why your country has no energy defense policy. That's why you are at the mercy of fluctuations in international markets. Without subsidies, your country feels the effect of every swing in international trade and global events. |

Islie:Nigeria is filled with a lot of greedy wholesalers and retailers who increase the prices of goods and services at random. That's what is going on right now with random spikes in prices. They will use any slight excuse to immediately increase prices and I have emphasized that price regulatory agencies are urgently needed to tame these middle men and retailers to prevent "artificial inflation." Period. |

theophorus:So Dangote has started importing crude oil or petrol into the country? I thought he sources his crude oil domestically. Everything is being blamed on war. Mtchew. |

Omoawoke:If you don't understand how it works always ask questions instead of showing forth ignorance, do you know how many government in the world prayed for these ehn, the oil price sin't controlled by the Nigeria government but oil producing states coming together to benchmark so as to allow price control, so it's not about oil producing state or not, if this continue like this ehn, we are going to have an extra crude oil account same way we had under jonathan because the government will have change left and that can be used to do something for the citizens |

We should Blame: -The Federal Government, -The State Govt and -The Local Govts, -The NNPC, -THE DISCOS FAILURES, •- that Could Not Perform their Roles of Investing In Oil 🪔 and Gas AND Power to make lives easier for Nigerians Because of Corruption in Almost ALL THE INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA! -But Dangote Refinery is Working and Supplies the World 🌎 and its Continents, -Yet the GOVTS of Nigeria ( All the Above) and its Institution,Have Failed to Delivered. Very Shameful Situation Indeed 😢😥😭. |

Xammie001:There’s a difference between crude oil price and the refined petroleum products - cooking gas and petrol. My statement is - “if things were normal”. Meaning we refine our own crude oil for our local use… why should disruption in Iran be affecting local prices of cooking gas and petrol prices in an oil producing country? Are other oil producing countries affected locally? Did the price of gas go up in the US, Saudi Arabia? |

Omoawoke:it is a glibal commodity. Anything that happens to Bitcoin affects the crypto market around the world, same applies to oil and gas. A single country can't control it. |
| Re: Cooking Gas Prices Rise As Petrol Hike Bites Harder by Omoawoke(m): 3:24pm On Mar 05 |
Mubiola360:You are missing the difference between crude oil price and locally refined products of crude oil. We are a major exporter of crude oil… We are importer of refined petroleum products… Ideally, why should local prices of cooking gas be affected in Nigeria if we refine our own crude oil locally ? |

| Re: Cooking Gas Prices Rise As Petrol Hike Bites Harder by bal4real: 3:33pm On Mar 05 |
Mubiola360:Can't Nigeria refine its crude oil locally for our internal use? Without the global market, Nigeria as a country can't sustain itself as an oil-producing nation. This is pathetic |

Some areas in Niger Delta of Nigeria are really suffering. Can you imagine that a kg of Gas in Bonny Island River State is sold for ₦2000. This is a town where NLNG which is the biggest gas company is sited. This is happening depite there is road to bonny island now. This 2k price per kg of gas has been like this when I bought in December 2025 and February 2026. Now that the price is higher in Lagos now, price in Bonny will also go up . Though, the town enjoys stable electricity |
