The hatred is still there even at age 90. Bro hateful people live the longest. Look at Buhari and this guy. All lived to more than 80

I still remember when this Gowon was going around holding "Nigeria Prays". I knew he was battling with his conscience then, but he arrogantly failed to truly repent and apologize for his mistakes.
Almost 6 decades after, you came out to say that due to fever you mistakenly signed an agreement document that held and decided the destinies of million lives, even unto this day.
God have mercy on you Gen Gowon, kindly do yourself a favor by purging your conscience of all lies and deceit before death.

Wow!!! LIVING LEGEND!!!! His voice has not changed!!
But he should stop disgracing himself about Aburi. Ojukwu simply outsmarted him

Perhaps you are now learning the APC shameless pattern of lying. Remember you were not the only one that signed the Aburi Accord. So prevaricating with the truth will only continue to hunt and hurt the soul.

There are some respect and honour that comes some more with old age. But as for Gowon, this is not to be. It is more honourable to keep quiet than to be this mischievous thereby rubbishing your supposed graceful old age sir
This is truly shameful. How can we progress as a nation when even an elder statesman such as Gowon can spout this rubbish. Well maybe he had typhoid while saying this

esnbrutality:
That is the reason why you are even more useless at old age. To the extent that Danjuma, who being older than you has a lot of respect than you.

Just imagine a man approaching his end, still lieing shamelessly.

Gowon, fears Fulani more than the DEVIL.

Don't be so sure he's lying.
Maybe he just remembered it. Happens sometimes when you have had time to think

And it took you over five decades to say it.

Sometimes, some things are better left unsaid
... the guilt didn't set in until fulani jihadist insecurity reset his brain and caused him to realize he was a used puppet -just like Danjuma and others from those days !!

He obviously got an order from the powers that coupled Nigeria into one and he had to oblige them.

That's why we are hearing this kind of ridiculous excuse from a military General. He still doesnt want to tell us who gave him the order

Dear Gowon u have always been a f00l in the scheme of things in Nigeria ! You had a fever when u agreed to aburi ?? But u choose war instead of clarifying Ur fever and choosing more dialogue?
Nothing suites me than the way u were kicked out of power u could have become a tyrant of unknown proportion ⛏️

Does it justify ojukwu killing over 3million people? Sir, you owe no one an explanation. Obsession with power caused the war.

Excuse must be given now. The pact didn't favour Nigeria hence opt-in out
Yakubu Gowon, should retire from public interviews and go home to rest - he is disturbing the peace of the Country. Why raising the past Nigeria/Baifra issues every year? You hardly hear him say any solution about the killings in his State of Plateau.
A patriot Leader, who lives in UK from the day he was overthrown - what a shame!

Dear Writer, you would have even stated what is in the Aburi Accord for your readers to understand more.

The Aburi Accord was a 1967 agreement reached in Aburi, Ghana, between Nigeria's federal government (led by Gen. Yakubu Gowon) and Eastern Region representatives (led by Col. Chukwuemeka Ojukwu) to prevent civil war. It proposed a loose confederation and decentralization of power, but failed due to conflicting interpretations, leading to the Nigerian Civil War.

Key aspects and outcomes include:
Purpose: To resolve the political crisis following the 1966 coups and massacres of Easterners.

Key Terms: The agreement emphasized regional autonomy, creating area commands, and requiring the Supreme Military Council's unanimous consent for major decisions.

Collapse: The agreement broke down after both sides failed to agree on its implementation, particularly regarding the interpretation of the resulting Decree No. 8.

Consequence: Its failure resulted in a 30-month civil war (1967–1970).

Shameless-falsehood virus seems to be rampaging amongst our past and present political class. Its indeed too sad.
