He recently praised the president’s leadership and credited him with helping reshape his understanding of patriotism and national unity.

The climb also comes shortly after Omokri’s diplomatic appointment by the Nigerian government. In March 2026, President Tinubu approved his posting as Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico, a role in which he pledged to promote Nigeria’s interests and strengthen international partnerships.

Omokri described the Kilimanjaro climb as both a personal challenge and a patriotic act aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s image abroad.

The multi-day expedition is expected to culminate with the raising of the Nigerian flag at the mountain’s famous Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the African continent.

As a lover of international leisure travel, I wish the BEST of massive luck to my OG, Ambassador Reno Omokri as he climbs Mt. Kilimanjaro.

As for climbing Mt. Everest, I wouldn't even advice my WORSE enemy to try it as the path to the summit of Mount Everest is litered with the frozen death bodies of LARGELY White men and women who tried climbing that mountain but failed. The process of recovering those dead bodies is ALSO a tough one so experts have advised that the bodies be left where they are... Unburied in the frozen rocky environment.

Not sure if he meant 1.2m tourist as 1.2bn is obviously a slip of tongue. But even 1.2m is quite a stretch. There will be a noticeable stretch of public facilities, beaches, hotels, transport system etc. none was obvious to those of is in lagos.

I watched the FULL video twice and heard the new Nigerian ambassador to Mexico, Reno Omokri CLEARLY say 1.2 million tourists visited Lagos State alone for "Detty December" and that's a statement of FACT based off of the visits from Nigerians in the Diaspora and foreign guests largely from the United States, United Kingdom, SA, etc.

We know full well that "Mt. Kilimanjaro" is CLEARLY the tallest mountain in AFRICA while "Mt. Everest" is CLEARLY the tallest mountain in the whole WORLD and Everest is far MORE dangerous to climb than Mt. Kilimanjaro, hence the higher casualty rates over several decades when climbing "Mt. Everest" which I CLEARLY stated in my post. What's "confusing" in that statement to you? Period.
