DUKEOFIBADAN:I just bought the KM4800 generator, I wanted to ask what engine oil do you use for yours as I was made to understand you already use the KM4000. What’s the capacity of the generator and your experience so far |

| Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by Gptech(m): 10:11pm On Jan 24 |
Indigbo:The size of generator you need does not depend on the size of your house, it depends on the load to be powered. It's better you state the power of those your non inverter ACs. Even if you finally get a gen to power them, it's advisable to turn them on one at a time, maybe you give an interval of like 3 minutes in between. |

Someone just recommended 9kva Sumec Firman ECO12990ES? What do you think?
|
| Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by aieromon(m): 2:00am On Jan 27 |
Indigbo:If you intend to run all ACs at once, the starting watts is 8100W. You need a generator that can handle 9000W and above. The ECO12990ES is rated 8200W. |
| Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by Indigbo: 3:06pm On Jan 27 |
aieromon:Not t all, even before now i;ve never run all at once. When the standing AC is switched on the other ACs will be off including ox fan too |
| Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by aieromon(m): 4:41pm On Jan 27 |
Indigbo:In that case, the ECO12990ES is recommended. |

Good evening everyone I have a Sumec 12,990es generator. For the past two years I've been changing the oil as at when due, but recently I've discovered that noise has increased far more than it was when we first bought it. What could be the reason. Also, aside changing of oil, is there more to servicing of gen? Do I have to call a generator technician to service it and what will they do differently... |

I need guidance from experienced members in the house. My church plans to purchase a new generator. We are considering a 9–10 kVA petrol generator because the previous one was 7.5 kVA. Please advise us on a trusted and durable brand to buy. I am not familiar with generator mechanisms and specifications. I only understand kVA ratings. What other specifications should I consider before making a purchase? Our maximum budget is 900,000. Thank you for your guidance. |

Pls can I use the DC port of the generator to charge car battery ? Is there anything I need to do special before doing it ? I am just connecting wire to both plus and minus of the gen and the DC outlet , is that right ?

| Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by inze(m): 2:49pm On Mar 22 |
femarse:You technically can, but it’s not recommended and often not very effective or safe. Those small 12 V DC ports on portable generators are usually meant for light, occasional charging (like small batteries or basic “boost” charging), not for properly charging a car battery. They are: - Often poorly regulated: voltage and current can fluctuate and may overcharge or undercharge the battery, shortening its life or even damaging it. - Too weak/slow: many are limited to a few amps, so charging a car battery from low state can take a very long time and still not reach full charge. - Lacking proper charging stages: a healthy charge needs bulk, absorption, and float stages, which these DC outlets don’t manage. The safer and better way is: 1. Run the generator. 2. Plug a proper 12 V smart battery charger (or car battery charger) into the generator’s 230/240 V AC socket. 3. Connect that charger to the car battery (red to +, black to –) and let the charger manage voltage and current. If you still insist on using the DC port directly, at minimum you should: - Confirm the generator’s DC output voltage and current rating in its manual. - Make sure the battery is 12 V lead‑acid and not completely dead. - Use proper cables/clamps, connect + to + and – to –, and monitor for overheating or boiling. - Don’t leave it unattended for long periods. But for your car battery and your generator, the correct advice is: use the generator’s AC output with a dedicated battery charger, not bare wires from the DC port. |

inze:Thank you for your response , problem is battery is dead , I don't have a car battery charger , and the light situation is terrible, I know those battery charger will not be able to charge it cos they also don't have light |
