How can fueling the full tank of a vehicle be more expensive than some people's monthly salaries in a country. And people say fuel is cheaper in Nigeria than USA and Canada because of exchange rate. Nigerians are really not that intelligent.

I don't know how to make y'all understand that Nigeria is the most expensive country in the world
Now who made Nigeria so. Can you buy a brand new European car for the price of a liter of petrol during your PDP era even if a liter was #20 in 2000 can that buy a new car? If you asked PDP who spoiled Nigeria they will tell you it's APC. If you ask the military who ruled in the 90's they'll say it's PDP. If you ask the military during Abacha's regime they'll let you know it was Abdusallam. If you ask Gowon he would say it's Babangida. If you ask the Western Nigerian people who enjoyed relative development under Awolowo they will forever curse Aguiyi Ironsi for abolishing the regional Government out of jealousy.
So who's to blame really?

This is how pathetic Nigeria has become.

I'm short of words, Honestly.
Also, the minimum wage today, can buy over 30 of the car. Is that not amazing!

You are sounding too deep and complex for their intelligence.

Just step down to their intelligence level by asking them how many peugeot did their father buy then?

No country in the world that the price of goods still remain same
Re: A Litre Of Fuel Today Would Buy This Peugeot Car In 1977 by xxxx999jon: 4:45pm On Mar 09
ebosed:
In 1977 Exchange Rate: $1 = ₦0.647
So, NGN1,080 = $1,669.24 in 1977.
How much is $1 today? Multiply by $1,669.24 = NGN2,253,477.59
This is how much that car is worth today, not the cost of fuel.
Do you undersstand?
the OP definitely can't understand.

Tha average Canadian or American does not know how much a liter of fuel cost, Trust me, they drive into a gas station buy and go. It is not a significant part of their pay, an average of about 5% or less of their salary

Was your father able to afford it at that cheap price?
How much was his yearly income?

I'm just trying to educate you that common sense should always prevail over emotions and sentiments...

Why won’t the pepper farmer hike the price of his product?

Will he use pepper for all his transactions?

Won’t he go out? If he has his own vehicle, won’t he buy fuel? If he doesn’t have a vehicle, won’t he pay public transportation?

The public transport he’ll enter will definitely hike its fare because of the sharp hike in petroleum price.

The pepper seller will buy garri, beans, pay his child’s fees and transport fare.

All he has to earn from is his pepper farm. He has no option than to hike the cost he sells his pepper for.

You all need to stop blaming the citizens for problems created by the useless people we have as leaders.
Then font complan of hardship na.

1080 Naira in 1977, is 500k Naira today.
This is why some people should not be allowed to vote. Simple concepts like inflation and APC's incompetence, are simply incomprehensible to some people.
no, it's 40 millon. i just confirmed from ai

Toyota Camry 2006

Tank capacity: 70 liters

Cost to fill: N1050 x 70 = N73,500

Minimum wage: N70,000 grin

In 1977, $1 == N0.647k
So N1080 in 1977 was equivalent to $1670
In Tinubu’s economy, $1670 is N2.3m (can’t even buy a used Korope bus)

So what happened?

ai is telling me, 40M

You have made it about politics. I don't care about politics in Nigeria, I just want the country to be better...

Paying subsidies for 50 years is part of why we have the problems we have today. Some of us saw the light in 2012, but most of you did not.

Fuel is still cheaper in nigeria...compared to other African countries self.
Oga stop misleading people. Cheap is relative to your earning power.. you should know better. Nothing is cheap for an average Nigerian citizen today.

Nigeria don spoil finish
Exactly. If minimum wage is 500k, then we can say Nigeria is cheap. The funniest thing is that most people still get paid below minimum wage.

What are you on about?

1 litre of petrol was priced between 9 kobo and 15 Kobo in 1977.
With inflation, 9 kobo is worth 19.43 Naira today.

Cost of a 2024 Peugeot 508 approx 13.8 Million Naira.
In 1977, today's 13.8 Million Naira was ₦6,392.07 - the equivalent of three years' wages for the average worker at the time.

Nothing is cheap for anyone really. That's not a defence of your government.

What most of you want is government to pay subsides for everything. That's how things were made cheap in the past, until the debt got too much.

I won't engage you any further oga. You are a tool for the government. You are supporting this bad government in disguise by mischievously playing neutral.

You never see wrong in anything the government does, all you do all day is blab around about tax and subsidy.
