Another matter not talked about enough is how special operations is employed in this war.

I frankly don't think they're being used well here.

Odunayaw:
Corruption seems to be the Nigerian cop out. I disagree.

Corruption can mar doctrine, yes but not always. NA bureaucracy is still military-era thick.

Look at the last video for example. Does the cache look like a weapons problem? Does it look like a mobility problem?

This thing is incompatible doctrine and both internal and external forces committed to the status quo as Barlow described a decade ago.
We all agree that our doctrine is totally obsolete !
What's stopping the NA hierarchy from building a proper defence fortress for every FOB in the Northeast? I dont want believe its too expensive that we can't afford it, Or they just choose to waste soldiers' lives on purpose.
The number of KIA does not just move our military chiefs.

Does the NA even have a dedicated SOF like the SBS ?

Our so-called SOF are been deployed like regular infantry

Please, enough of all these useless pictures and talks of weaponry.

Nigeria as a Nation is not ready. Where on earth will high ranking officers of the military and their men be killed in a gruesome manner and the next day, life goes on like nothing happened.

It is sad reading and seeing videos of these rabid dogs capturing large cache of weapons, armoured tanks and technicals.

More annoying is rhe effrontery to attack 4 locations simultaneously. Kai!

Yet that useless politicians said about 3yrs ago that these blood sucking demons have been technically defeated.

Where were the air assets when these lots were straffing our men without fear? Where are the helos, gunners, and jets? Where is the airforce? The various commando units and SF?

It is has Nigeria and her military become? No wonder many don't want to join the once respected and admired noble men.

My heart bleeds seeing those videos and the bravado at which these ragtags flaunt the videos of their "wins" and looks.

Please let's just pack it all up!

No point sharing meaningless pictures and videos on this thread!

Sad! Sad!! Sad!!!

They don't care...even seeing commissioned officers like them getting finished like chicken doesn't move them.

It is money, money politics.

Shey NA have 4 SF Bde with their attendant Bns. Like you said, they are literally deployed like regular infantry. In fact I think it's the over performance that has become their bondage.

It's traumatic to me how in over a decade men from the defunct AFSF for example haven't risen to higher chains of command to influence SF employment in this war. Very frustrating.

It's the zombie doctrine that is stopping them. NA is not a pragmatic institution, why do they even need to be sef, country (yes majority of the whole darn country) doesn't care. So no consequence.

Chief of Ops, Theatre Commander and other high ranking staffs should be shaking in their boots for all these failures but alas.

The problem here is that we're fighting like one who beats the air. Whatever semblance of holistic strategy we had under Buratai seems to have vanished.

I refuse to accept the "funds" trope. It's funds to prosecute the war the false way our "partners" have taught us that we don't have.

Another young officer we've lost; His Major Segun Amusan of the NA who was also killed by ISWAP militants during the recent attacks against Nigerian military FOB, this will be the fourth officer to be killed since the terrorist offensive.

Honestly I like your mention, 👆 here.
If the current Chiefs and commander where to meet the resistance of the then BH force, they would sure make a mess of the NA honestly.
Kudos to Gen Adeosun, Nzegowu, Buratai etc.

Suspected fighters of the Islamic State in the Sahel (IS-Sahel) launched an attack on Tahoua Airport in western Niger early Monday, targeting a military air base hosting the Nigerien Air Force’s Bayraktar TB2 drone fleet.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the insurgents struck the facility in the early hours of Monday at about 1:30 am, triggering exchanges of gunfire around the air base located in Tahoua region.

The air base is considered a strategic installation for Niger’s counterterrorism operations, as it hosts the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used for surveillance and precision strikes against insurgent groups across the Sahel.

Details of the attack, including casualties or the extent of damage to military assets, were still unclear at the time of filing this report.

The incident comes less than two months after a similar assault by suspected IS-Sahel militants on a military air base in Niamey.

Such attacks reflect a shift in tactics by jihadist groups in the Sahel, increasingly focusing on strategic facilities including airports, military bases and drone installations.

One of our major issues also is the porous borders and neighbouring countries. One strategic Airforce base of Republic of Niger was almost overran and captured by terrorist last night.
I dont see more of joint operations from MNJTF like we use to see before?

Tahoua Governor visits air base after terrorist attack

The Governor of Tahoua Region, Colonel-Major Souleymane Amadou Moussa, visited Air Base 401 at Tahoua Airport on Monday following a terrorist attack on the facility.

The attack reportedly occurred on Monday night at about 3:05 a.m., targeting the military installation, which hosts the Nigerien Air Force’s strategic assets.

The governor was accompanied by regional heads of the Saharan Defence Forces (SDF) and members of the Refundation Advisory Council, who inspected the site and assessed the extent of the damage caused by the attack.

Authorities said the visit was aimed at boosting morale among military personnel, evaluating security measures, and ensuring rapid restoration of operational capacity at the base.

Details on casualties or material losses remain limited, as security agencies continue investigations into the incident.

You're expecting joint ops after Tchiani and the Malian & burkinabe dunderheads went mental?

Something else that I've gotten tired of asking is why AFN seem to neglect the SIGINT/ELINT part of intelligence gathering.

I noted the loss of human spies recently and it was not hard to predict the storm. 4 locations hit near simultaneously must have had significant electronic trail.

What about Chad, Cameron and sometimes Niger which were more active members of MNJTF.
And that's why we are seeing much of these cross border activities from this terrorist groups.

These are the sort of issues that would limit the NAF's ability to respond to calls for Close Air Support from the Army. We really need to upscale our ability to keep our aircraft in the air, and we have to improve the ability to handle most of the required servicing locally. Otherwise buying all these expensive aircraft would be meaningless as they would be grounded in about 1 year flat of operations.

Looks like scrappy journalism and not hard to imagine why.

However, the Tucanos ought to be the mainstay for CAS. We got them for their cost of maintenance. I'm very curious to how many are operational.

Judging from where the source is coming from i wouldn't want to believe this, since the Nigerian MOD went for other aircraft than their own Tejas.
How did they know that only one Jf17 is working and the Nigerian government still has a good relationship with the Pakistani government and we not facing any sanctions dealing with them.

We still have other aircrafts apart from the Tucanos that can fight, this are not enough reasons for the NAF early intervention in the ongoing war.

Its high time we look into equipping the NA Aviation with some able attack platform, especially attack helicopters.

From the very onset, how effective have we put this hardware into good use.
This also goes with our drones acquisition.

OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA: TROOPS DELIVER TACTICAL BLOW TO TERRORIST NETWORK IN KADAM FOREST, SOKOTO

Troops of the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7 in conjunction with 8 Division Strike Team, operating under the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have eliminated terrorists at Kadam Forest recording a significant operational success following a decisive engagement with a notorious terrorist network affiliated with Lakurawa Terrorists in Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

The operation was initiated following credible intelligence indicating that over 100 terrorists had converged deep within Kadam Forest to coordinate attacks and kidnapping on local communities and transport their kidnapped victims to their strongholds. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, troops mobilised to intercept the terrorist advance. Contact was established at approximately 1200 hours.

The ensuing firefight was fierce and sustained. When the terrorists attempted a rear-flanking manoeuvre, troops responded with superior firepower, effectively neutralising the threat and maintaining tactical dominance throughout the engagement.

Subsequent exploitation operations into the forest confirmed the neutralisation of three terrorists, with several others believed to have sustained gunshot wounds during their escape. Troops recovered one PKT machine gun, two AK-47 rifles, 350 rounds of PKT ammunition,111 rounds of 7.62 Special,3 magazines, 2 radios, 3 motorcycles and a mobile phone. Follow-on operations are ongoing to confirm additional enemy casualties and recover further materiel.

Troop morale remains high, with fighting efficiency assessed as strong and unwavering. This operation demonstrates the continued effectiveness of intelligence-driven, joint security operations in degrading terrorist networks and disrupting their sustainment capabilities.

Aggressive patrols and sustained offensive operations continue across the general area to exploit this success, disrupt fleeing terrorist elements and prevent their regrouping.

Yeaterday, the minister of defence called an emergency combat audit with the Service Chiefs at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters to confront the recent brazen terrorist attacks.

While the full scope of our tactical adjustments and movements must remain classified to safeguard our personnel and ensure mission success, several decisive measures can be shared publicly.

The Service Chiefs have been tasked with an immediate and forceful recalibration of military operations across multiple theatres in various regions to dismantle the networks of terrorists and bandits threatening our nation. They are exercising direct, on-site command to ensure effective coordination and relentless pressure on these criminal elements.

We have completed a hard-hitting review of our national military strategy, ensuring we act swiftly and decisively against all threats, with a stronger offensive posture designed to take the fight directly to these elements wherever they attempt to operate, alongside a strengthened framework that guarantees every operation delivers real results.

Despite the challenges, we are recording significant progress, neutralizing core commanders of terrorists, and systematically disrupting their operations to weaken their capacity to threaten national security.
I can assure Nigerians that our efforts will continue relentlessly until these elements are fully dismantled.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI FOIL COORDINATED TERRORIST ATTACKS, KILL OVER 20 INSURGENTS IN YOBE

Troops of the JointTask Force (North East) , deployed in Goniri, under Sector 2 of OPHK , have successfully foiled coordinated attacks launched by ISWAP terrorists on their location in Goniri, Yobe State, killing over 20 terrorists. The attacks occurred from the night of Monday, 9 March 2026, through the early hours of Tuesday, 10 March 2026, when the troops came under heavy assault from multiple directions.

The terrorists were initially detected through surveillance assets advancing simultaneously from Goniri village and the Ngamdu junction axis in an apparent attempt to encircle the military location. Impressively, the vigilant and gallant troops responded swiftly with superior firepower and tactical manoeuvre, effectively coordinating their defensive actions.

Reinforcements were promptly mobilised while the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI provided timely and decisive close air support, further degrading the terrorists’ combat capability. During the intense firefight, the terrorists were overwhelmed and forced to retreat in disarray, suffering heavy casualties. Over 20 terrorists were neutralised, including a senior terrorist commander identified as Abu Yusu, the Munzir of Dursula.

Following the failed attack, troops recovered several terrorist bodies along with weapons and equipment abandoned during the retreat. Recovered items include multiple machine guns, AK-47 rifles, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), bombs, and assorted ammunition of various calibres.

Further exploitation and clearance operations by troops in the general area of Gwaigomari within the Timbuktu Triangle led to the discovery of additional terrorist bodies during follow-up patrols conducted up to the early hours of Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Troops who sustained injuries during the encounter were immediately evacuated for medical attention and are currently in stable condition. The location remains firmly under the control of Operation HADIN KAI troops. Ground forces, supported by the Air Component, are currently conducting aggressive follow-up operations in the surrounding areas. Additional search and clearance operations are ongoing in nearby communities where some wounded terrorists are suspected to have fled.

Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute and committed to the complete defeat of terrorism and the restoration of lasting peace and security across the North-East region. The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and resilience while urging them to sustain the operational tempo.
