I saw a video of him walking and doing things himself... He doesn't even use walking stick.

Old age becomes a burden when you're spending it on a sick bed... But this man's own is a big blessing

Unless I am guaranteed of strong health at such old ages. Forget the pictures of Obasanjo, Soyinka and Biden you see in the media, those men might be fighting great battles with their knees, hips, ankles, eyes and other body parts in reality.

It's grace coupled with genetical factor not the food. Many of his age mates who ate the same food are long gone and moreso he's presently eating the food in this modern generation and still waxing stronger

During those colonial era days the people weren't so educated to know the times they were living in. They used to measure it by the moon or market days or something like that.

At this Age you can't enjoy much.

Well I don't know how it works in the SE, but in the SW it is very common not to know the age of your parents and especially grandparents....and who born you to ask them outright!

In fact I know people over 60 who still don't know the age of their elders and are scared to ask them outright before it is seen as a handshake that has extended to the elbows

People live longer now than 100 years ago cos of better health care. In those days you are talking about, common malaria is a deadly sickness. Chicken pox was a plague that can destroy a whole village.

Make we tell ourselves truth. You can’t even compare that generation to ours because the factors are poles apart. Those 90-year-olds grew up on 100% organic swallow and natural lifestyle. No "chemical-laden" canned foods or processed junk. Even the environment back then wasn't this toxic.

That is why life expectancy is dropping. Before, we had "strong" elders, but today? Just enter any hospital and see people in their 50s and 60s already confined to wheelchairs.

While it’s good to pray for long life, once the body starts failing and the knees are gone, what is the point of "counting years" in pain? At that stage, it’s more noble to go peacefully than to stay back and become a source of "torture" and financial drain for the next two generations. If I’ve built my legacy and achieved my aims, why the stress?

My granddad died in 2020 at over 100 years old (he even witnessed the Aba Women's Riot). Trust me, at the end, we were literally praying for him to pass on. The man was struggling to breathe, half-dead but still lingering. Nobody wants to experience that kind of "long life" just for the sake of it.
