Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by SpreshMan(op): 11:05am On Mar 11
I recently got conditional offers from most schools in the Uk, one is starting in May and I have also deferred one to the September but my mind wants to go for the one in May.

However the kinds of arguments I read online about whether or not Japa is worth has got me confused.

I know about minimum wage being about 12-15 pounds and maximum of 20 hours per week, I know work visa after graduation has been reduced to 18 months and even the condition for ILR being extended last year.

So I’m seeking advise from people would be Honest whether it would be worth it to spend around 21 million to embark on this journey and still have a debt of close to 10 million naira since I’m paying half of the school fees. Will it be worth it ?

Are the people preaching against japa being honest ?

Understand context...None is lying as some of you will want to make it look!

You are an adult and know what works for you. If after sitting and counting the costs(whatever that is) and it works for you, why not? But if not...do the needful!

All these threads some of you create is just needless!

Once more, you are an adult...

It maybe worth it at the long run....but honestly if you can get a work visa in a "smaller European country" with low cost of living its far better, even though their minimum wage is low, remember cost of living is still very low...at least you save about 15m from your 21m in your account in case of anything you have funds to fall back to,and lastly you don't owe any 10m debt...

For the UK, like two years would be very very tough for you before you become stable financially

Well It’s because on the surface, my brain as an adult tells me it’s outright risky : starting from zero again and being debt with no meaningful goal at the end: ILR and Pr; but I’m brushing that off as negativity/pessimism and wondering why and how most Nigerians still do it— there must be some kind of incentive/benefit that people don’t talk online.

If you are waiting for "incentive" that people are not talking about online to do or not to do anything, then...hmm...why put in for the admission process? Why stress yourself?

There's NO INCENTIVE because they differ for every one you see out there. That means you find yours!

If you have the money to japa, do so. You don't know when next you may see the opportunity.

I think you should japa but try to research other European countries, visa, cost of living, PR & work hours while studying, so that you can make an informed decision. Goodluck.
Re: Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by rickpat(m): 2:31pm On Mar 11
Serbia, poland(very good pay),and some other countries in eastern europe...but its hard getting the job..most of them work with agents to get the job and work permit...the only easy route is school, that you can do yourself...but why not try schools in other cheaper countries....please rush and try schooling in Luxembourg, its cheap, just have the pof of 31m...hurry oo..it ends 24th march and admission is once a year...Luxembourg is very good...try it...also join the topic here on nairaland about how to do the application for Luxembourg study...bro,uk too cost..

The Japa(Modern day Slavery) group don't want Nigeria to progress.

This is false . People living abroad also have families in Nigeria . Insecurity affect everybody . People abroad also feel the heat because when a family member is kidnapped it can cause heart attack . Moreover a better Nigeria will reduce unnecessary pressure on them .
Are they holding Nigeria from progressing ?

What is your final decision? After all is said here, you will still go with what you had planned.

I will go for it … staying in Nigeria is no better and maybe I would find an end goal when I get there

You know how much you realistically have with you.

As you intend relocating to Europe through the study route, research what each country offers in terms of in-demand courses that would offer you better chances of getting jobs, the tuition fees, working while a student, stay after studies and pathway to permanent residency/citizenship.

I did mine years ago and settled for the UK because it aligned with my pathway in the field of mental health and did my postgraduate studies at ARU Cambridge, now working in the civil service in London.

Sometimes, I feel like giving up and making use of Sniper .

The shame, the constant embarrassment and all.

Context matters a lot.

What course are you looking at studying? In what city? What's your plan? Are you able to survive on minimum wage?
Re: Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by HacheNoire: 12:55pm On Mar 12
You just need use the White South Africans as a case study.

They thought it was an opportunity to Japa and now, after tasting what Hollywood movie told them, they are are now on Japada.

Why you will always commend the sincerity of Whites. Blacks will rather drown there than to return home.

Re: Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by pansophist(m):
Japa to another country not the UK.

It is almost impossible to switch from temporary study visa to something permanent. Your ability to work severely restricted, and the uk economy is not the best.

It is also not in the Schengen zone or the eu, so you’re stuck in that little overcrowded island with lots of immigrants like you looking for greener pastures.

The system understands why you’re there and makes it difficult for you and your type as the years go by, while making sure it milk out any cash you have left.

Yes you will look fresh, your pictures will be fine. But you’ll probably be broke, stressed, single and emotionally drained.

Go to other Schengen countries, it’s better. You can travel all through Europe and explore opportunities, with multiple chances to become a permanent resident.

No one is. Although some exaggerate the justification for their stance nonetheless, it gives you an opportunity to think through your options critically before making your decision. Once you do this, make your choice. Remember, different people have different experiences.

Oga use that money you want use pay school fees, air ticket which will run in mllions open up a business here in Nigeria.... Do this and work meticulously you will thank me later

People that control the world are the ones that build businesses and not the ones that earn salary...trust me if you go to UK you go regret am ! Nothing dey there

You are young now, you have the capital , invest and start up something in Nigeria ... At a time you can travel for vacation

Take a look around in your community, you will see the richest people in your community are those that made their money here , they live here and they are also having their own firms and businesses

The gains of japa are soon eroded when there is no one to send forex to back home anymore

You then settle into the life over there - normal life

I hope you got it
