As someone who has japaed. It is important to have skills or quickly develop skills now or when you get here. Also develop those skills in areas of demand. Two stands out for me Tech and Health Sector. You can be lucky as an Engineer or someone in Avation sector. If you are married one of you should be in Tech or Health sector. The other can still find something like minimum wage Job. All they need here is your skill not you!! |

You need to be fed up of Nigeria for you to appreciate living abroad. If you relocate as a young person still under the care of parents, and have not experienced the real world outside school, I don't think you will appreciate living abroad. Don't move because others are moving. Be convinced. All i can say is that, you will not lack all the basic things when you live in a developed country. Your only responsibility is to to make money and obey the laws of the land. |

Living life to please other people is the sickness that many Nigerians suffer from Make your choice and live with it The problem here is that both sides dont wanna look like they made a wrong choice to the society |

Why not try Canada instead of the UK. At least in Canaad, you have various pathways to PR |

SpreshMan:Can you please do us a big favour? If you finally decided to go. Can you share your sincere experience after your first two years in the UK? I mean with100% sincerity. It would be really helpful. Thanks in anticipation. |

SpreshMan:Are you currently valuable? Is the course you are going to do valuable? Would you have been able to get a job in the UK without the course you are going to do? There are differing reasons why people japa (me having japa,ed back in 94 instead of going to NYSC) but your situation and goals should be your determinants. A lot of us japa'ed without goals but we knew we could survive first and thrive later. Now is much later and a lot of us are considering returning but to what? Start a business - a lot of unknowns. Get a job - definitely not. Retire and do nothing - too young for that. So we remain . UK - I believe you can figure out a way to beat the system if you are resourceful but it will take a lot of time and effort and sacrifice. |

SuprymBean:Correct guy! You said it all. Money does not grow on trees anywhere! You have to work for it. In the UK, you'll have to do odd jobs and for hours that will test your limits for you to even breath. That 20 hrs per week something is just for transportation and snacks. Nothing will come out of it. The only way you can make it abroad is if a company employs you. Not odd job stuff |
| Re: Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by olyrayy(m): 1:45pm On Mar 12 |
SpreshMan:Because those societies are better and richer than Nigeria. By far. Like, the distance is just so clear. The GDP per capita of the UK is $50,000. The GDP per capita of Nigeria is $1000. This means the UK is 50 times richer than Nigeria. If you're sure of getting a job abroad, even if it's minimum wage, it's still better than Nigeria. By far. |

SpreshMan:You are just overthinking it...! Japa or not, you can succeed or fail in life if you are not focused or decisive... Add good fortune or absence thereof. Bottom line... Only japa if you have a clear plan and finance to back up that path. If not, remain where you are at least getting by. |

SpreshMan:. Hmmm. Starting from being given admission, many UK Universities will be happily offer you admission at this time, the reason being that about 60% of them are currently facing financial crises so they are desperate to get more students to fund their activities. More recently they are even discussing forming merger in other to stay afloat. So, don't be carried away by the fact you are offered admission. However, I'm not sure you will be making a good decision for your career, getting jobs after graduation is hell. The job market here is SUPER saturated. Even when you are qualified, scale through all their barrier, the question would that they need UK experience which I doubt you might not have. So securing a sponsorship job after graduation might be extremely difficult, and only lifeline majority people are currently using which care jobs which offers sponsorship are being withdrawn. Hundreds are having challenges renewing their sponsorship. This is not to discourage you but to let you know the real situation on ground. If only you are cross bend on coming for MSc here look for courses that is health and care related something like Mental Health Nursing, Nursing, Social Services, Radiography etc, with those you have a greater chance of getting job regardless of you the course you take in you BSc level. Don't go near MSc in engineering or sciences. What makes money here is health and care related jobs. Apart from those, master degrees in the UK are business nothing more. If you truly have 21million naira, just you relax and look inward for something you can do back in Nigeria. Spending such on a masters that you might not use and end up doing something you do not like do not worth. |

None oga. Everyone is just speaking from their own reality. What does that have to do with right or wrong? One could simply say they're all both right and wrong. Abi, wetin man go talk again? |

| Re: Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by drkrest(m): 2:00pm On Mar 12 |
This is the simple maths; you are going to spend close to 40 million naira in total. You will only recoup the money and make more if you are only able to stay in the uk beyond your 18 month post study, which is not guaranteed. It depends on your risk appetite and desperation. If you were able to save 21 million naira in Nigeria, you are smart. Meanwhile, I reside in the uk and I can tell you confidently that it is not paradise. |

SpreshMan:No risk no gain. Whichever you decide, to japa or not, there will be risks. The question for you is which will be worth it? UK has become meaner than ever. Should you chose to japa, consider the following; 1. How to fund your remaining fees. With the added expense of living, it will be practically impossible to pay up the outstanding if your whole plan is to depend on the 20 hours of work you're allowed on a student visa. And in a case of default in paymemt, school could easily withdraw your CAS and you'll be forced to return home or stay illegally. This has happened to a lot of people I know personally. 2. Routes to extend your leave beyond that very 1.5 years of postgraduate visa are very limited. If your degree is not in the health sector or you don't have a solid tech skills and portfolio, you will struggle to find work that sponsors you for a COS. These two are the most important things you need to think on. What you decide is up to you. |

KaLuCh:I think you just hit the exact angle of my thought. I’m thinking if minimum wage is 12.79 per hour and I got to work maximum of 20’hours per week that is 250 per week and 1000 per month as it is on paper. Can I pay a balance 8000 pounds from this or do people have a way of working more hours without the system knowing. And 2 the fact that the path to residency is not so clear. A lot of people are traveling which means they are probably manuevrjng the stuff but I can’t gamble to find out |

Its not about anti Japa or pro japa. Its about what course are you going for? Can it get you job that can help you with staying after you finish your course? Or do you plan on bringing the certificate to come work in Nigeria? Think about your own decision. |
| Re: Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by SpreshMan(op): 2:26pm On Mar 12 |
upsupa:By answering this questions in my head, and telling Myself the truth, it looks like outright gamble … the course is business management. I’m not gonna just spend 40 million just for the degree if I can’t get Pr afterwards. But still I really want to escape Nigeria |

pansophist:My uncle travelled to UK with his family last year February. I don't know but I'm not as excited if it was US he traveled to. I've heard about UK being harder to make money than US when I was in sec sch which was more than 17 years ago. And most of my make in sec sch school then are all in UK, I mean I know at least 12 that are there or visiting there. So I don't know but he's trying though, he has sent us money and especially to his mother even when nobody is pressuring him as they all feel he just arrived there. But I understand it's not easy over there so I'm surprised by the gesture too. I just pray he becomes stable as they packed everything with no mind of coming back soon And I really appreciate him because he contacts us so frequently even more than families in Nigeria. |

SpreshMan:If you ask my opinion, paying to go do masters in Business Administration in UK may not be valuable. Business administration graduates are plenty in UK. If you already have an ICAN and you know your prospects of executive level employment in Naija are possible, then yes. If not, maybe start ICAN and increase your savings in Naija. Japa no be automatic success and it is not an end. na means to an end |
| Re: Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by borie4u(m): 2:44pm On Mar 12 |
SpreshMan:I will advise you on your situations. U see things are not what it seems to the eye. If u are travelling to the uk for studies u are 3 years late because you will come alone without partner. If u could come with ur partner it would have been better because it is easier for ur dependant to get a job while you can manage menial jobs for 20hrs. 20hrs will only pay for food n transport and not ur rent or school fees. That is where your wife or partner would have come in. After graduation you will pay 3k pounds for your poststudy for 18months which is not bad. To get a job is very hard because of uk experience but its a 50 50 thing because u will have to work hard to survive. If u come in to scotland it is a bit better to get a job with NHS. If u have a health related degree its much better but all in all it is safer than naija where one fulani idiot can kidnapp u and collect the 20million with correct beating self |

SpreshMan:Life is all about fulfilment and not about getting PR or earning big. Is like you don't even have a reasonable purpose why you want to travel? After PR what next? A lot of people have PR , Citizenship and yet are bored of existence. Or you think getting PR or Citizenship will automaticall open doors, or bring money for you to journey around the wiorld? Sit down and ask youself these questions. |
