It’s time to pay teachers well now and suddenly the issue is from the tuition students pay.

Do you know in China, the tuition fees are quite low and they have one of the best quality of education in the world? An average lecturer in China receives a Naira equivalent of 3.4M Naira monthly as salary.

Nigeria problem are corruption and fraudulent acts and it has become endemic in our society, the same students you're trying to pity, when they too get to power they do the worst, they quickly forget where they are coming from.

The punishment from autocratic government in China for corruption is very weighty and it works because there is no room for tribalism or sentiments, here our law against corruption seems powerless because of tribalism, political and religion sentiments.

We supposed be enjoying fuel subsidies as oil producing nation but corruption and fraudulent practicies has make it very difficult.

Nigeria is a very poor country. Corruption is the least of our problems. Without corruption, we still won’t be able to give over 200m people free education. You don’t want to pay for PMS. How many lecturers are there when you compare with students, that they cannot conveniently pay them reasonable salaries? it's the greed of the politicians and that is why democracy can't be the best for Africa.
Those affordable houses being built by the govt are shared among them the politicians in power and their cronies.

There have been stories of how legislators and Lagos state govt officials shared all those govt housing projects among themselves and their girlfriends.

If you cannot industrialize the entire value chain of the construction sector housing cannot be delivered cost effectively. We still import substantial amounts of building inputs so the larger economy controls what we can afford and what we can't.

How about we start the explanation with the numerous indirect taxes embedded in Nigerians' everyday transactions. Who is accounting for those?

The frustration that many Nigerians express, as I suspect you already know, is not about paying high taxes, but about trust and accountability. People naturally, must want to know how their monies are functioning.

We see a country with significant oil revenue, large budgets, and numerous public funds, even without the taxes you say we don’t pay, yet our universities are underfunded, hospitals struggle, and infrastructure remains poor.

So are we being punished by the people in authority? Why are they hiding behind the lie that development must come only out of the pockets of citizens?

The truth is that university education is not meant for everyone. I have always said this here. One of our problems is jobs for certificate holders have extremely low salaries.

If not, everyone doesn't have to further their education because it's only meant for a select few who can afford it.
