I applied for one job in February 2025 with full hope, thinking this one fit change my story.

Today, March 2026, dem finally reply me. One full year later. At this point, no be recruitment again, na ancestral callback

If to say I plant agbado and cassava that same period, by now I for don harvest, sell am, and maybe even start export business sef.

Honestly, some companies no dey hire, dem dey do archaeology. Na when dem dig old files dem go remember say, “Oh, this candidate applied.” 😂

I no go mention the company because I’m not here to name and shame…but replying after one year is already enough self-shame 😅

Maybe Alaye Jagaban was onto something after all.
People are cashing out exporting Naija foodstuffs, while some people still dey wait for HR wey talk, “We’ll get back to you.”

Moral of the story:
Apply for jobs, yes. But abeg, no put your whole life on hold. Learn a skill, build something, sell something, farm something.

Because in the kind job market today, before some companies reply, your children fit don dey do their own CV.

Wow this is funny and sad. And the truth is, most people in the employable age have experienced this in Nigeria

Now imagine applying for over 100 jobs and all are the same unfortunate response. Apart from stressful, it demoralising. It’s better to have a skill because no one can ever take that away from you, or a physical asset which is in demand and people use everyday.
