I'm not doubting this story. It happened to someone I know very closely about 18 years ago. He was deported from the US. The CBP said his visit was suspicious as his destination was different from the airline ticket and hotel reservations he was holding. He was detained in a cold cell and deported 2 days later.

Luckily for him, he got a schooling visa to one of the leading EU countries, now applied for a vacation as a student on an exchange programme. His visa was approved and he's been to USA like 5 times now. He lives and works in that European country now.

Don't give up bro. I was younger when I founded my company. You too can rise, just believe there's a reason for everything. Your story showed you're a child of God. He'll restore you and give you a sense of direction .

I have a certain level of disgust and dislike for unintelligent people and can never pity them. How can you be traveling out of the country to a country for the first time with only 2 days left on your visa and you didn't think of the fact that you were doing something very silly? You think everyone has your kind of brain? I'm sure you were riding on hope/luck/favor but that was an extremely silly thing to do. Good you're building your life back though. You had a 6months visa, and left for the country like 3-4days to the expiration of ur visa.
You must be very very dumb to think they would allow u in.
2ndly, you have never been to that country like once or 2ce b4 then. They would have given u benefit of doubt if u had been in and out of the country like once or twice

Maybe his passport was empty, he hadn't travelled much or travelled at all.

I pity you having read all your long message. But your situation can be an eye opener to so many people leaving this nation as JAPA..THE GREATEST mistake you made was to earlier pursue your Visa without money on ground to travel when the visa is ready Another mistake is to travel two days for your Visa to expire. Anyway that is bye gone now and you have learned a lesson. Why should I JAPA when you can be in Nigeria here and be making money in foreign currency even more than those people abroad through various online trading. With real training and seriousness you can start with like money and grow your capital over short period of time.. I pray that God direct you more to forget the past and have focus, you will surely bounce back. Good luck

Yes, a lot of people get deported from the airport, you are not the first and will never be the last, the only difference here's that you choose to share your experience and I want to believe that you have learnt from the mistakes.
I don't know if you are married , if you are not please 🙏 make it your top priority this year and don't settle with a liability . Look for a lady that is working with plans and purpose in life.
Trust me, you will still travel.

There is nothing wrong if you japa, but it you must, respect Gods word. You want to travel on a tourist visa and start working illegally with papers, it is wrong. The Bible says you must obey the higher authorities, that is the government (Read Romans 13:1-7). If government says you cant work without a work permit, you are not only breaking the governments law, but also that of God.

At times, we may be able to get the work permit and all, but have you asked God if that is his will? Not everything is money. Many travel even with the right papers and regret it. Many wish they had remained in Nigeria.

I like your summation but it lacks reality. You can be a second class citizen in Nigeria. Do you know I was born in lagos and lived all my life in lagos but when I try to get state government jobs. The state government will tell me am not an indigenes.

While in Canada, I was a Nigerian I emigrated to Canada, I did as the law stipulates and became a citizen, then I tried my political ambition. And I became a governor in a foreign land..

Success isn't stagnant and where your heart finds success that is your home.

Life is full of experiences, some good some bad but we must make good out of every situation we find ourselves.
Don't blame yourself at all, you tried hard to make it happen like a man with vision, but maybe that is not the way God has purposed for you.

What's the essence of this post? Is japa the only solution to success? No. There are so many prosperous billionaires who made it by hard work in every state and towns in Nigeria. You too can be one of them. You don't need to japa to make it. You can succeed anywhere you are. And at a particular age, find another way to succeed. Relocation even within Nigeria Can take you back several years at times if not well planned.

In the first paragraph, OP said he sold everything he had. Reading further, he said he was on a 60k salary, lived in a small self-contained apartment, didn't have a car, etc. So, what was the "everything" he sold?

Secondly, as at 2019, N8m was a lot of money! To now hear he used it to process japa to an Asian country?? Hmmm. That amount could conveniently take only you to the UK as at 2019.

I know of a close friend who travelled to the UK in 2022 with less than N5m through student route.

very foolish move,I can't sell anything too travel.My Dad sent 3 of his younger siblings to study in the USA, none of them achieved anything and one even died there.i will continue enjoying this great country for the rest of my life.between nowand first week in April 1 million sure and na foodstuff i go use everything buy.ive paid my kids school fees till September and I'm a landlord so I don't pay rent.i don't give a hoot about Europe or America, GOD BLESS NIGERIA!!!

You have made some good points - can't deny that. But some of your assertions can be challenged.

First of all, there are Nigerians living as second class humans in their own country today. No need to say more about this.

There are people whose livelihoods depend on the inter-state movement of people and goods in Nigeria - and these people have watched their business model collapse over the past few years. There are ordinary people whose lives have been ruined by just one encounter with the moguls of Nigeria's billion Naira kidnap industry. People have borrowed money and also sold land, homes, cars and other assets to pay ransom for their loved ones languishing in the hands of kidnappers. There is a young man on NYSC duty who is in captivity at the moment and his family have all but given up on him. How does this any of this make any sense?

We can all agree that there is dysfunction and violent crime in foreign countries too. The capital city of our former colonial overlords is derisively referred to as 'the city of blades' because of gangs of knife wielding youth roaming the streets. I would argue that it costs less to to get a firearm in one big North American 'superpower' than it does to get a nutritious meal, morning, afternoon or night. But if 200 people in a village or county in these countries were massacred in two days by 'unknown' armed men - it would bring down the government.

There are real costs to Nigeria's insecurity. The problem isn't going to go away on its own. Until the issue is tackled, the exodus will continue.
