The truth is a lecturer looks beyond financial gain with the ability to pass on knowledge being of utmost zeal. Frankly even at a starting salary of 2.5 million I wouldn't consider a lecturer's job. Kudos to you and others for the impact you make in the educational sector.

I run a small consultancy equally involved in the production of science based herbal products. The average unskilled worker takes home at least 275.000 Naira. They do need to start calling me Baba Mi.. 😂

my brother, you just described them. That was how one of them asked my wife whether I am a Living Faith member, she replied her that what has that got to do with our son in her class. Most of the teachers are very biased. If they don't see you as one of the dedicated church workers they won't take care of your child properly in the school.

Let’s go by real figures. Publicly available data shows that Covenant university has about 500 Academic staff.
At #170k a monthly, annual salary for each academic staff will be #2.04M

Therefore the total salary for all academic staff is. 500 x #2.04 which is approx #1B yearly

Now, there are about 8000 registered students ( information from public data) paying #1. 5M yearly.
Total revenue is #1.5 m x 8000 = #12B yearly.

Let’s assume they have another 500 non academic staff for a total salary of #1B

What else ? ~~Petrol and diesel ? #1b~~

Only #3b in expenditures for a revenue of #12B

Oga. I know this is over simplified but these people are making a killing

Feeding and other operations cannot take up to #5b

They generate their own electricity. No need for petrol and diesel stuff.

Private Universities are mandated to pay at least the CONUASS SCALE by NUC and not below that. The guy in question must have been recently employed as Lect II or just got promoted from AL to lecturer II. The same cry of Public universities was also getting to the private University staff, but they can't protest or join unions. I'm sure people will understand why ASUU was crying that Professors take home was less than 450k back then.

That's how you know people who are not in the system and doesn't know jack. The day I know Nigerians have a problem with figures, I decided to rest.

This is the salary range for the recruitment done at OAU just a few months back. Pay attention to the highest range and divide by 12. You have your answer. 'Cos of PhD, you think they will just start paying you 500k...a lot of you don't know how bad the system is.

I just got my PhD last year and trying to enter the system. Even got to the interview stage. Last last, na politics dem take recruit many of them... lol...check the below screenshot.

Rarely, at this claim in bold. The thing is, he/she must be a PhD in progress. Entry for PhD holders starts from Lecturer II. If you see a PhD lecturer as an assistant lecturer, it means the person was most likely employed when he or she was still in the programme. However, a year after graduation, he should undergo conversion or upgrade, and upon meeting the requirements, he will advance directly to Lecturer I, thereby bypassing Lecturer II.
