Lagosians still survive and go about their daily activities as if nothing is happening. Including those tied to bed for kidney and liver problem due to these fake drugs? |

QuinQQ:Hmm... Psychological how? What of the numerous substandard and fake colas, fruit juices, wines, package foods and all cus they're 50% out there in the market especially this Lagos I am. What psychological effects does it too holds. |

Mathewrichard99:Hmm.... Well said. But there's something I am expecting most of you to have deliberated on which you haven't. I gave instances of the consumer market now having various products of Milk, Beverages, coffees, Noodles, wines, drinks and all. In this different products, there used to be original ones which are now costly and expensive to some common man. Now the markets started having either fake or inferior and ardurated ones which are cheaper. For example peak milk and milo, you will go to the market and see lesser products like that with no names and people still used them without any problems. My question is, what now makes those inferior ones fake since they're serving same purpose as the one we thought is the original. |

11doubledee:Honestly I am not justifying using fake and substandard products. But the truth is they're over 50% of them now in our consumer markets which some of us maybe knowingly and unknowingly used. And life is going and moving on for everybody. Infact what I am expecting you guys to say is: everybody's immune system reacts differently to whatever they take. Like for example, I used to have a roommate who will finish a pot of beans and nothing will happen to his stomach. But I will take just a small plate of that same beans and I will be purging. |

Kalulu44:I'm talking of your particular experience with fake and non-fake blood tonic. You'd get the same result if you did not know it was fake - because it is psychological. Different from poisonous fake or expired substance that can give you cancer or even kpai you immediately |

11doubledee:I was going to understand the thread until OP mentioned drugs. Ah. I am sorry Dora Akunyili, may your good work not die in vain. Whatever enters your stomach must be treated with great care and caution. Fake drugs are like poison, please don't even entertain that thought at all. I know you said you don't take drugs but when you're understand how even pharmaceutical drugs have side effects, you don't want to try fake!! https://www.tiktok.com/video/7534058162391928070 |

| Re: Expired And Fake Products: How Harmful Is It Truly? by Mathewrichard99: 2:58pm On Mar 16 |
How on earth you buy beverages that has no name. That's poison you are consuming bro. Anything you are buying to consume into your stomach must have a name, address and batch and model number. I know that some beverages companies sell beverages like cereal, sugar, milk etc.....in big bags to retailers to rebag amd sell to customers as they want and cheaper than the packaged one. Those companies have names and address and also the product has expiring date... If you ask the retailers, they would provide the expiring date for you cos. It's written on the side of the packaging bag.... Those big bags from the company has expiring date and the products aren't inferior, only that packaging is different cos of the mode of selling to the retailers........ Kalulu44: |

Mathewrichard99:I am not and will not buy a product without a name. Infact if I want to drink tea now, I go for the tested and trusted names like Peak milk, Bournvita or Milo. But while at the markets, we see people buying milks or chocolates that's tied in cellophane bags. Even in my area I see family using this types of package milk and chocolate for their morning tea cus it's affordable and in quantity to satisfy the family. An average or poor family of 4, 5 or 6 can't afford the peak and Milo of this world for their quality tea, so they buy those ones I mentioned. And we still see majority of this families kicking on fine. How about that? |

| Re: Expired And Fake Products: How Harmful Is It Truly? by Mathewrichard99: 3:17pm On Mar 16 |
Those are the ones am talking about when I said they buy them in big bags like in 50kg bags of powdered milk, 50kg bag of powdered Chocolate drink, 50Kg bag of corn flakes.....you can buy all these from the manufacturing companies of you are a customer to them. They would sell to you in those big bags with names, date of expiring and production etc....while you sell in retail to your own customer in those small small quantity that you used to see...and it's just a way of alleviating poverty by selling small small quantity that your money can buy......hope you. Understand?? It's not a fake products or expired products.........however, you still need to be careful since you ain't the one buying directly from the manufacturers and wouldn't know the date of production or expiring date. The best you can do to be careful is to ask for the production and expiring date while buying...... Kalulu44: |
| Re: Expired And Fake Products: How Harmful Is It Truly? by Image123(m): 3:25pm On Mar 16 |
Kalulu44:Different factors but let me mention two. One, many of the products you refer to are best before, diluted or lesser quality. It's like building with less quality materials. It's a short cut disaster waiting to happen. Most of those things take effect over decades and generations, not one day. Like air pollution. The society starts feeling it some 40 years later and may not even trace the cause. You can start seeing many young people with failed kidneys, heart disease, hearing loss, etc. Children being born with strange ailments and conditions. Two, the human body is fearfully made to take a lot. We call it adaptation. It's like someone living somewhere for years without any problems, and then he relocates and start experiencing all kinds of medical issues or even dies. See mental people eating and drinking nonsense and living in very dirty conditions and they behave even stronger than the people eating balanced diet. The problem is usually when most of those people change conditions for better, maybe relocate, get a good job, travel out, etc. All the body starts shutting down. All kinds of sickness start cropping up. Again it's usually a disaster waiting to happen. Don't relax inside such condition. |
| Re: Expired And Fake Products: How Harmful Is It Truly? by Kalulu44(op): 3:27pm On Mar 16 |
Mathewrichard99:Exactly the ones I am talking about. I do see most of them from the 50kg bags sell to people who now package it in smaller unnamed bags. Majority of these products are good I won't lie, but it's still within that process some sell their fake and aldutrated products. In this Lagos I know many places most of this fake products are made and are sold to the markets. Surprisingly they are majorly made inside most of our military barracks called "mammy market". So it makes it almost impossible for nafdac to go arrest them. And this products are in the markets serving purpose |
| Re: Expired And Fake Products: How Harmful Is It Truly? by Kalulu44(op): 3:36pm On Mar 16 |
Image123:Hmm... Well said, but the economy situation of the country will make people continue using those products, not minding whether the effects will happen now or in years to come. But to me if the effects starts happening when you're above 60 or 70, then I don't see any issues in them. Just my own thinking |
| Re: Expired And Fake Products: How Harmful Is It Truly? by Image123(m): 3:39pm On Mar 16 |
Kalulu44:People usually like shortcuts until it burns, plus our bodies are different. What one person had absolutely no reaction to, another person may die from it. |
| Re: Expired And Fake Products: How Harmful Is It Truly? by Kalulu44(op): 3:44pm On Mar 16 |
Image123:Exactly, this is the main point I want to hear. Our system reacts differently to everything we take. Smokers dies young but they're many 60,70,80yrs smokers out there. I for example will purge with a plate of porridge beans, but I once have a roommate who will finish one pot at a go and nothing will do his stomach |

[b]Exactly.....howevee, you can still help nafdac by giving them information of the location anonymously. It's better to inform the Nafdac cos of innocent Nigerians that would be buying without knowing the poison they are buying. These people can even mix the good ones bought from the company together with the fake or adulterated ones......please inform NAFDAC.....just send a mail and give the address of the place.....that's it.... Mathewrichard99:Lolz! Are you kidding me ni. Who told you Nafdac doesn't know about this locations. All the reports over the years has yielded no results. I'm talking of inside a military barracks where most of the perpetrators are either the soldiers, their wives or relatives doing this things. You and I know nafdac can't go into those barracks to do shit. |

I have to be very real with you: just because you’ve survived a few rounds of "pharmaceutical roulette" doesn't mean the gun isn't loaded. Thinking fake or expired drugs are fine because you didn't feel a side effect is like saying seatbelts are a scam because you once drove to the store without one and didn't die. |

as69:A million thanks for your take. It shows you are knowledgeable in the health field to say the least. In no way do I encourage anyone to take adulterated food/drink/medicine. However, just this morning as I was checking through my kitchen cabinet, I discovered that a number of roles of beverages (sachets) have expired since February this year. Unbeknownst to us we've been drinking tea from them ever since without any side effects. So what do you think, do we have anything to worry as what is left is over four roles of ten sachets each? Or should we discard them or finish what is left? I also remember some years ago I went to buy water guard to treat my drinking water and what I saw in the market was expired by a few months. The marketer urged me to go ahead and buy it because the dates are simply there to make it easier for it to be sold that the date has no meaning. But I refused. On a number of occasions I've seen people take expired drinks without any side effects especially if it expires with a few weeks/months |
