A Federal Donor secured by LSSTF commence constructions of brand new Police Stations in Lagos

Psalm 150:6 KJV
[6] Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Lagos State’s security architecture is set for a major boost as the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has successfully secured a federal donor to fully fund the construction of new and modern Police stations strategically located across the state. The construction works have begun immediately, and will run in phases to capture many other Police stations, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

The new facilities currently ongoing are sited at Morogbo Police Division in Badagry; Elere Police Division in Agege; Hogan Bassey Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Yaba; Oko Awo Police Station in Jankara, Lagos Island; MAN Centre Police Station in Ikeja; and a Police Division in Ilasamaja. This spread reflects a deliberate geographic balance designed to enhance operational efficiency and response time across key urban and semi-urban corridors in Lagos.

The landmark intervention, facilitated under the leadership of the LSSTF Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, underscores a growing synergy between public institutions and donor-backed initiatives aimed at strengthening internal security in Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre. With an estimated population exceeding 20 million people and a steady daily influx of thousands, many existing Police facilities, some decades old, have struggled with capacity constraints, outdated equipment, and inadequate working environments.

The new stations are expected to address these gaps by providing purpose-built structures equipped for contemporary policing demands. For example, the Hogan Bassey Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Yaba is anticipated to significantly enhance intelligence-led operations against kidnapping and organized crime, while the Morogbo Division in Badagry will strengthen border and coastal security operations along Lagos’ western flank. Similarly, the Elere Division in Agege and the Ilasamaja Division are positioned to improve community policing and crime prevention in densely populated neighborhoods. The two (2) in commercial hubs such as Ikeja and Lagos Island will support more efficient law enforcement coverage for financial institutions, markets, and corporate establishments.

This infrastructure lift is also expected to have broader socio-economic implications with many Police officers working under conducive environments, enhanced quality of life for residents, and increased investor confidence.

As the construction is progressing, expectations are high that the new facilities will set a benchmark for Police infrastructure development across Nigeria. The phased development across Lagos will also ensure that many other Police stations will feel the impact of infrastructure upgrades.

Since his appointment in October 2025, the LSSTF under the leadership of Dr. Ogunsan has intensified efforts to bring together government, private sector actors, and development partners to support law enforcement agencies. These partnerships are ensuring that security agencies are better equipped to tackle evolving threats. This latest achievement of securing a single federal donor to underwrite the full cost of six stations has been described as a testament to the Fund’s credibility, transparency, and strategic vision.
