Which is more reliable

Both are reliable.
If you like performance go for acura.
If you are good with maintenance "acura"
Mpg is terrible in Mdx but good Smile per gallon instead.
Both parts are readily available.

Go for rx350 for comfortable driving experience and less tech wahala.
Not as sharp handling as mdx.
Rx350 has floaty feel via suspension.

Both cars have their common problems but nothing terrible.

Apt! About the Acura
Its my daily driver (Advanced package)
Handling and balance is great
Sh-awd sweet o, wallahi

Its super comfortable, fast to a frightening extent (the other day I was already on 140km/h and it felt like I was doing 80).

I have no experience with the Lexus

Just in case you go with the MDX (I hope you do)

I discovered a hack to get around 14-15mpg city driving (compared to the 12.5mpg I'd usually get before). I do not go past 2000rpm (trust me, this thing is fast and you mostly would have no need to), always ensure you don't fill the SH-AWD bars on the infotainment screen past 2 bars (check image), this car hates idling, so don't idle, build your speed slowly and brake slowly (it's also a heavy car)

Just to add to this, both vehicles are great vehicles but if you get the mdx be very careful where you get fuel for the vehicle, very important

U go buy acura nd u dey drove below 2k rpm.be like say u want spoil the engine with carbon build up. No worry.i give u 6 months .e go smoke taya. Acura mdx wey be say na 6plugs plus him heavy weight na him u dey drive below 2000 rpm.who sent u to buy car wey big pass u.the more u speed.the less fuel consumed.the less u speed on low gear..climbing hill.pot holes. The higher the mpg.no worry

MDX IS BETTER performance wise, much more premium, reliable also if well taken care of , downside woukd just be body part, they’re very expensive

If your primary concern is performance, the MDX trumps the RX350 with 290hp at 6,200rpm against the 270hp of the rx350 at the same rpm.

The mdx also has better audio system. It also offers a 3rd row seating arrangement with less premium feel.

The MDX comes with a timing belt which requires replacement at around 100k miles while the rx350 has a timing chain that does not require maintenance if you stick with the recommended engine oil. Belt replacement is also expensive.

In terms of fuel consumption, of course, the MDX consumes more & requires premium fuel. Parts on the ride are more expensive as well.

The RX350 has a better resale value while your MDX may more than 70% of the purchase value when you want to resell.

Finally, this is not to discourage your but to lay the cards before you to allow you make an informed decision.

I realized you modified your post because 2014 mdx wasn't the mdx you were comparing to 2009 rx350.

Meanwhile, 2014 mdx can't be compared with 2009 rx350.. 2014 mdx is a superior car! Good you have test driven both cars and confirmed it.... Try not to buy basic mdx.. buy the tech package with Shawd to get the Els surround sound system too. Cheers!
