runningriot:You are a wiseman and you have spoken well about this matter. anonimi:2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld. One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast. Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest. https://www.thecable.ng/2023-pdp-and-politics-of-healing-wikes-self-inflicted-injury/amp ddippset: |

Kukutente23:Makinde actually lacks political discretion! In politics associates must trust you. He can no longer be trusted politically. What Wike is telling him is that: “Makinde you are politically illiterate and naive!” That is the reality on the ground. Those who hate Wike personally have their bone to lick but you cannot take away from his political sagacity! On the court decisions and electoral reality who runs PDP? It is Wike! Rivers State and FCT scenario are clear indicators of that! Other politicians should seek to learn from him!!! |

runningriot:Oga! Atiku’s political greed is responsible for the falling apart of PDP. Why will he be contesting as a Fulani man when a Fulani man is about to leave office? Is he not aware that it's the turn of a southern candidate? The above was what Wike was fighting for. Simple! |
| Re: A Fight You Can’t Fight, Don’t Start It — Wike Mocks Makinde by zoedew: 11:42pm On Mar 23 |
Usmanovic95:You are not getting the figure of speech Wike is referring to right. Wike is telling Makinde that it is not only money that it takes to be a successful politician. Much more political wisdom is required. Wike is saying “Makinde do not be a political fool”. See how much Makinde has spent on the unfortunate pdp Amala Convention at Ibadan which came to nothing! Makinde has not made an inch progress in PDP. If anything he might soon be running away from PDP to another Party as the heat in PDP is roasting him to the point of political dehydration! |

runningriot:I got your point, but in whatever you do in life, never bite a finger that once fed you, PDP is in comatose today because after 2015 Election, after using the PDP platform Atiku left for Dubai and abandon the party while wike continue spending to keep the party going because he has the financial muscle , he was able to put Secondus as the Party leader even as he served as PDP governor, solely funding the party , he was pumping fund with little support from Makinde only for Atiku to return in 2019 to use his usual northern delegates number advantage to push wike aside and hijack the party for himself again to contest the 2019 election, same Atiku has now left the PDP the Party on platform he contested 3 times , Don’t think you can always use people and dump them, some people will fight you dirty . Wike is one of those, he has taught Atiku a lesson because PDP would have won presidential election if wike had worked for Atiku May be. In life, don’t think anyone is foolish when they hold ladder for you to climb up |

fixedhollies:We just don't know what democracy is all about. It failed 9ja in the 1960s, early 1980s and failing since 1999. IBB had the golden opportunity to be a benevolent military dictator and set 9ja on the same path like Malaysia but he failed too. Gerontocracy and monarchy are our natural governance system. Virtually every president except Yar'adua and GEJ have behaved like a monarch so far. Only that they don't have the fear of what will happen to their children later when they get to the throne. Political positions have become like monarchies, but without the history, heritage and customs/traditions that guide them. The constitution/courts have no teeth to bite against politicians that control all the money and state power. |
