You make money from people living in your state, not people living in other states. If you live in Oyo na Oyo dey provide infrastructure for you

All his trucks I have seen are either having Kano or Jigawa plates. Imagine the hundreds of millions per year on renewals alone.

In addition you have to get your yearly registration(which cost money), for you to get your yearly registration you must submit a valid inspection that your car is in good condition(inspection also cost money)

If you move to Texas for example, at some point you will need to exchange your Utah drivers license, license plates, etc and register yourself with Texas but you cannot compare the states with Nigeria. Here it's done to update the database and make sure every individual residing in the state permanently is accounted for. I don't see how you can even implement it in a place like Nigeria effectively.

As per that inspection stuff, no be for cars wey don pass certain number of years before the yearly thing kick in? I believe say na road tax dem dey call am for UK, and na after three years or so, you go start to pay if na brand new car. I no really dey sure to be honest.

Why not? Why cant we do it. Its easier for states to manage the smaller number of their state license plates holders, even individual states have different state laws which might differ slightly

For example I got a ticket for using cell phone while driving in New Jersey, In Texas its perfectly legal

between city/province in the US and Canada, yes. I think China does it as well.
But I'm absolutely sure you do not change number plates when moving cities within same country in Europe. at least Germany, Austria, Netherland, UK, Ireland, Belgium Sweden, Spain, even in Monaco-France permanent resident switch. I believe it extends to all Europe. not sure of Australian systems.
I don't know where Google got that info for Spain.

It's possible to implement in Nigeria but currently it's akin to putting the cart ahead of the horse because we still don't have a solid, reliant and updated database.

The only state that has a little bit of database is Lagos.

True. I've been doing analyses of state government websites/web apps for years and that deliberate leak of revenue to such unstately channels you explained sure is responsible for why, asides Lagos and recently in Abia, Nigerian state governments shy away from centralizing their revenue collection systems or semblances of such.

I looked at the coordinated system https://texas.gov has for everything revenue collection and documentation vetting, and I even built a quasi-prototype of some sorts but there's the Nigerian peculiarity you explained which makes state governments refuse to key in.
