Veteran journalist Babajide Kolade-Otitoju (BKO) on TVC New’s Journalist Hangout has launched a scathing critique of Peter Obi’s political consistency, dismissing his recent visit to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as purely political despite Obi’s claim that it was not.

BKO said: “Peter Obi said his presence in Kano was not political, but to celebrate Salah… If you believe that, you’ll believe anything.” He recalled Obi’s earlier declaration: “Peter Obi said he will not leave APGA… He said he will never leave APGA. Is he still in APGA today? No, he’s not. So, when he says something, you take it with a pinch of salt.”

The journalist argued that Obi and Kwankwaso are likely to align on the same platform for 2027: “The two of them are likely to end up in the same party. Peter Obi said to his supporters last week that he wasn’t sure that he would get the ticket of ADC. So, he’s preparing their minds… for another movement. He’s preparing their minds, just in case he chooses to become the deputy to the presidential candidate.”

BKO noted the growing momentum: “Many people see ADC as belonging to Atiku… Some call it Atiku Democratic Congress, ADC. So, Peter Obi is not likely to win any primary. He doesn’t, and he cannot spend money the way others spend. So, primaries, not for him. But they’ve always wanted to bring in someone like Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso because… any party that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso joins will become strengthened.”

He praised the opposition realignment while warning against defeatism: “I like the fact that the opposition is getting stronger in terms of some of the alliances that they are building… There will never be a one-party state in our country… Instead of speaking like a frustrated person, concentrate on yourself, building solid alliances.”

BKO concluded that the current moves signal serious opposition momentum ahead of 2027, urging critics to stop claiming Tinubu wants a one-party state and instead focus on building a credible challenge. The remarks have sparked intense debate online about Obi’s political consistency and the future of opposition politics in Nigeria.

There is no consistency with Peter Obi's beliefs or ideology about anything.

He just do things for trending.

I am still wondering the purpose of Obi's visit to Malami. That contradicted everything about Peter Obi. Or is it not same Malami Peter Obi and his supporters taunted all through the tenure of late president Buhari

Peter Obi can't be contradicting his own beliefs and think people will over look. Ko possible
Re: Peter Obi Kano's Visit; Babajide Kolade - Otitoju Reacts by Racoon(op):
Peter Obi is a phenomenon everyone associated with this failed govt don't want to face. From Sowore, Ayo Salami, and now the corn-eating TVC Babajide Kolade Otitoju, they can't just stop talking about him. What a man, verifiable character beaming with capacity for such a time as this in Nigeria political space .

Peter obi must not run away from ADC because of primaries election, he must participate in that primaries election with ATIKU, ameachi and others.

But through out Peter Obi's political journey, he has never participated in any political primary election before. Not even when he was Anambra state governor

He would rather run to another party than contest the primary that he will eventually loss

Who still takes anything Babajide Otitoju says seriously these days? He lost relevance a long time ago.

The day he openly criticizes Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government and holds it accountable for the state of the country is the day I’ll take him seriously and call him a journalist.

Until then, he just sounds more like a paid mouthpiece and a rabble-rouser

Can you see all those Puerile obidients insulting the man for sharing his own personal opinion........he only gave an advise to the opposition to get their acts together and stop blaiminh tinubu for their lack of cohesion........adc already see tham as outcasts, now they are carrying same violence into the kwakwansiya movement......I trust those ones dey noh get joy at all.

How do you expect the rest of us to trust obidients with power when all they do is insult and bully everyone.......neo facism promax!!

They swear they are not afraid of Obi but if Obi sneezes they analyze for decades.

And tell Kayode Otitoju that talking about Peter Obi leaving APGA has become stale. They should find something else to say.

And yes, we are ready to move with Obi to any party even if he moves 1million times.

I laugh when people continually say Obi doesn't have money in the bag to spend. With what happened in the last election you will see someone spring up single handedly and he will spend any amount available to make him stand out as the sole ADC presidential candidate. Obi won't spend but some people are already on the queue ready to spend so much on him. People are just so funny ajeh.. Make una dey play o.

You can't say same about me. Trust me, he knows me. His Dad taught me. Same class with his younger brother.

why is it that anyone that criticizes Obi regardless of the manner always come under attack by you lots even when the criticism is right?,sit down and ponder if there is an iota of mental stability in that kind of attitude.if he had said Obi will win next year, you will be jubilating and making him your dear

It is incredible that theur reaction is like that but not surprising at all.

Funny thing is if they took stock and listened clearly, what the guy said is true and there is some good advice there.

He wants a strong opposition and thinks they should align sensibly.

But as he is a Yoruba man and he hasn't said Peter Obí is the best thing since sliced bread, they are going to insult and abuse him.

It’s funny you’re talking about mental stability when your entire argument is built on deflection. Nobody said criticism of Peter Obi is off-limits, what people push back against is selective outrage and obvious bias.

If Babajide Otitoju wants to be taken seriously, then let him apply the same energy he uses dissecting others to Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government. Accountability isn’t a one-way street.

And since you’re so concerned about balanced criticism, have you, as a Tinubu supporter, ever actually criticized him for the state of the economy, insecurity, or hardship Nigerians are facing? Or is criticism only valid when it’s directed at the opposition and Peter Obi

Lanretoye:
critics if this administration are not met with all sorts of cyber attacks but the moment you mention Obi,especially if you criticize him,the obedient comes barking even if you are also an obidient
Are you sure you even understand your own comment? You just claimed critics of the administration aren’t met with cyber attacks, so where exactly is the constant hostility especially from the Tinubu regime, APC and their supporters toward Peter Obi coming from if not the same space you’re pretending doesn’t exist?

This is exactly the selective logic people are calling out. When it’s Peter Obi, you suddenly discover “overreaction, from Obidients but when it’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu, everything becomes silence, excuses, or deflection.

Nobody said Babajide Otitoju shouldn’t criticize Obi , the issue is the obvious imbalance. Accountability isn’t seasonal; you don’t switch it on only when it’s convenient. Peter Obi currently holds no political office, he is not responsible for the hardships Nigerians are currently subjected to. Tinubu is responsible for it.

And let’s be honest, if criticism of this government truly didn’t attract backlash, you wouldn’t be working this hard to deny what everyone can clearly see.

Is Peter Obi not a critic of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration? Aren’t you and your ilk attacking him precisely because he criticizes Tinubu’s maladministration?

Why complain when Obidients reacts
