Minimum Wage In Ghana Vs Barbing Cost In Ghana by helinues(op):

In reference to the thread above

Some Nigerians don't even know the basic principles for placing minimum wage amount. There are so many factors to be considered before government can set minimum wage amount.

I remember when the NLC was discussing the new minimum wage, my proposal was not more than N70-N80k after so much factors was considered

In the case of Ghana and their minimum wage, Average current minimum wage in Ghana is 21GHC but the average cost for Barbing as a guy is 15GHC and that even depends on area and the shop.

That price of foods, goods and services in Nigeria are more cheaper than majority of the countries is not something magical

Professional barbing clipper is still very cheap in Jumia, Temu and Alibaba. The choice is all theirs.

Barbing doesn't require advanced training.

How much do you use to barb your hair in Nigeria if you want to do comparison

A daily wage from Nigeria is 70k/30days
Most barbers will charge 2k or more for barbing isn't that equivalent to a minimum wage per day?

Before asking your question about Nigeria, I asked you to show the screenshot of your results from Google about barbing in Ghana.

I had my reasons for asking

I dare you to show where I made it 21ghc per month. I didn't add day or month

Why are you quarter cleaver too by omitting if it per day or monthly to make justification for your propaganda.

I now ask how much is minimum wage per day in Nigeria compared to what a barber charges on an hair cuts

Below is the screenshot of your first engagement with me today on the UK guy.

Now on this thread, not that I mentioned you, you came by yourself, you pointed out some things which I argued in line.

Now do simple thing I asked you do to before asking me any question. I asked you questions first.

I am sure you must have googled the price of barbing in Ghana and see the point I am driving at, but because it will contradict all what your arguments have been about since, you just can't post the screenshot

I have assisted you with the screenshot you are shying from posting

Isn't it obvious that you are the one putting mouth on something you have little information about

Seems you mistaken this moniker with another one......
I don't comment on threads but I was just irritated by your compassion of hair cut in Ghana and Nigeria to score a cheap point for the hardship citizen are facing now.

life is tough in ghana

life is tough in Nigeria

average salary in ghana is around $235 while in nigeria , it is $220

minium wage in ghana is $39 while in nigeria it is $46

if i was to cut my hair in ghana, An haircut in Accra is around $2–$8 USD while in Nigeria an haircut ranges from $0.80–$3 USD

A Ghanaian on minimum wage could spend up to 20% of his wages just to cut hair, while a Nigerian spends under 7% max

with this simple calculation based on haircut, it is cheaper to cut your hair in nigeria than in ghana

You try so much to be smart in condescending manner, but you cannot even do a simple conversion. Divide the 70k minimum wage by 22 days and convert it to cedis or dollar. The Nigeria's minimum wage is still higher than Ghana's.

Comparison of basic salaries of medical officers in both Countries.
The minimum wage in both countries is the most appropriate metric for wage countries.

I personally have problem with what you posted. The salaries of doctors depend on various factors in Nigeria. For example, doctors working in government hospitals generally earn better than those working in private. Besides, the 250k you posted up there was the salary of a registrar (senior resident doctor) in a federal hospital 12 years ago. I have very strong reasons to doubt those figures.

A young consultant in a federal hospital does not earn less than 1.5 million per month.

What exactly is the basis of your comparison? Dishing out incomplete information to confuse the public. You know minimum wage is per day in Ghana yet u intentionally omitted that information to confuse people whose minimum wage is per month.

The info provided is current and accurate. That's the basic salary of young medical officers in government-owned hospitals. Allowances barely make up to an additional 50%.

Private hospitals generally pay better than government-owned hospitals today.

No young consultant receives 1.5m per month from any government-owned hospital. What CONMESS grade Level would that be?

The author of the original post tried to weave and spin up and analogy to baselessly claim that life in Nigeria is better off and yet he twisted himself into a pretzel with his illogical conclusion. In what world does a sane human being believe 45 dollars is okay as a monthly minimum wage? Because that's what Nigeria's monthly minimum wage equals.

This in a country where the wife of a sitting federal judge is caught with over 170,000 dollars in raw hard cash.

This post is mischievous, intending to create wrong impression on gullible and uniformed readers that cost of barbing in Ghana is more than half of the minimum wage.

The op quoted Ghana minimum wage is C21 and barbing cost C15

I wanted to ask is it for daily wages, weekly or monthly. Like in Nigeria once someone says minimum wage, we are all know it is N70k per month

Now I was able to know that C12 is a daily wage while C15 is average barbing cost per 2 weeks. Let's do the maths - 2-week pay = 21 x 14 = C294
Barbing cost for once in 2 weeks = C15
Balance of wages after barbing C269

The op must be a mischiever and confusionist

I strongly doubt your figures. Also, based on information available to me, doctors in federal hospitals earn more than those working in private hospitals. Note: I am not talking about doctors who own private hospitals. That is not to say that a very few private hospitals in Nigeria do not pay more than government hospital.

A simple google search shows that consultants in government hospitals earn between 800k and 3 million monthly.

By the way, I did not relying on google search for my previous information.

You can get the CONMESS Salary Structure and have a look for yourself.
This is just for Doctors. It's equally poor across the healthcare sector which should be a critical sector in any Country.
