What people don't know is, price of things are cheap in Nigeria . How much is an average 1 room in Nigeria compared to other countries?

Why are other countries in Africa for example not throwing parties the way we do in Nigeria?

Compare ordinary the price of a beer in Nigeria with other countries and see the reason.

Though the minimum wage in Nigeria is low but with low price of goods and services, we should be doing better if we reduce our unnecessary spendings

Religion, festive activities and parties cost a lot yearly in Nigeria now add expensive data people are still affording even though they don't make money on internet
What are you saying Chief??
Imagine if I’m a minimum wage worker collecting 80k in Lagos. Living in aboru and working in ikeja
House rent for a room in face me I slap you cost 15-20k monthly at the moment in an area like Iyana Ipaja and co.
Tfare alone daily cost 2k averagely x 22, that’s 44k
Feeding alone is like 2.5k to 3k if you want to eat like a poor person daily, that’s, over 80k

Now add this costs and tell me what the h*ll is the minimum wage?? Imagine this is a cost for a very low income worker
Most Nigerians are seriously struggling and that’s why most steal and cut corners just to live…
It’s crazy out there..

In proper countries, their minimum wage earner live in a moderate apartment, feed comfortably daily, commute to work and still save out of that minimum money…
Something is definitely wrong jare

So now NNPC is creating the environment? What nonsense is this, repeated as if it makes sense? I said government provides the enabling environment, how does NNPC even fit in? Do you not understand its role at all?

And before you get ahead of yourself @ emboldened, check my records, you clearly crave insults. I can oblige, but consider this your final warning.
Take the case of the farm manager in Ekiti who was kidbapped, paid N17m, not released, then finally escaped. Did he get an enabling envirinment.
Think of the tlriadside electrician who never aspired to start producing items because of lack of industrial estates/complexes, did he or she get enabling environment?

Many more abound.

The UK guy failed to analyse the two system accurately. Ask him how much is the rent in UK per month compared to rent in Nigeria annually. What of the cost the health system most importantly when you are without insurance. Can you buy a jacket or Snicker in Nigeria at 500 or a thousand pound. The money earn in both system revolves round the system and for those in diaspora, their ability to cut down their spending in pounds, the better to save more in Nigeria which most times is not easy going credit, tax and many more.

Tell us what you know. How much is their monthly salary, how much is their monthly bill?

How much tax do you pay in Nigeria compared to those abroad.

Someone in Europe, Baba O n Sha nla, I think Germany posted 3 mackerel fishes and ask how much it cost in Nigeria as he bought it at equivalent of N40K.

Wondering why some of you just like to be arguing blindly

That UK man is an illiterate.

Each country pays according to its nflation level.

Why doing conversion from pounds sterling to naira? That's an Hallmark of an ignoramus.

Most importantly, Nigeria annual budget hovers around $45b with a population of around 250 million while UK with population less than 70 million has averagely annual budget of $1 trillion. Nigeria is not as rich as UK.
Agreed Nigeria is not as rich as UK but yet your government displays a gross level of extravagant spending on frivolities.
hope there is this same level of disparity when it comes to annual take home of law makers between the two countries as well.

Let me indulge you a bit with a simple scenario:

A low band nurse in the UK can net 2K pounds. Assume frugal living, he/she can save 200 pounds per month, afford vacations and still live a decent life.

Same nurse working in a "well paying hospital" in Lagos can earn 250K. A room self contain in Somolu can cost 1m a year. Very small room. The quality of life is sub par, to put it nicely.

This is me trying to ignore the fact that many nurses earn 100k or less in Nigeria, making them easily susceptible to killing you "mistakenly" when you have the ill luck of landing in a hospital in Nigeria.

PS: I'm just seeing that people are taking the time to share comprehensive breakdowns of cost of living in Nigeria. I'll see how you respond...

Personally, I'd prefer to believe that you're intelligent pretending to be dumb (for whatever personal reasons).

It'll be a tragedy if you really believe half the things you type.

You are actually the one sounding dumb on this thread even with my basic explanation.

Those who are living in abroad and earning high, how much are they paying as bills, how much are they paying as tax?

A nurse in Uk earning net of 2,000 pounds per month, how much is rent alone taking from her salary compared to someone earning N250k in Nigeria with the amount they spend on rent

Nigerian politicians both dead and alive finished Nigeria, our Independence was too early......The whites should come back and take over, we ain't ready yet.
Which whites? The whites ran an economy based on building infrastructure without most of us paying tax, which is why most NIgerians think that government is supposed to build things for us,,meanwhile in the same white country, you pay tax, before you see anything

And that is what would happen if whites from UK ran your country like UK Now. Nathing like subsidy at all at all, electricity won't be cheap, everyone, including people in village, go pay tax, and high tax, and nothing like petty corruption. And you go produce by fire by force.

Anyway, the problem with the whites running Naija is that they developed the places that favored them...which is why Enugu and Kaduna are big cities, which did not exist in the year 1800 ad.

Under the white man rule, most of you would have gotten no light, nothing like roads...not even a dirt track, nothing like school (unless you werelucky to be near one village where the misssionaries were working, and even then at best primary school...secondary school was for a minority who did really really well ...university self was a pipe dream for most of you people.).Even this electricity wey we dey shout up and down...before independence only the regional capitals, cities and towns on the railways and some other towns had light. EVERYWHERE ELSE WAS IN DARKNESS. (My village saw no light until after independence for example). Almost all the infrastructure we have here...80% of it, was built after independence. At independence, for example, we had 1 working university, three in the pipeline and that was it. Today we got over 80 government run universities, and that';s not even mentioning the private universites. Most of the roads we have in Nigeria were built by post-independence governments. Even power infrastructure...most of it was built by Nigerian governments. NO effing white man would have built all that...dem go only give you something if it favors them.

The reason why things don't work is because y'all think that we have oil, therefore we must live like them Saudis. And you refuse to do what makes the whites good...use natural resources to make exportable goods, pay tax and hold government to account.

Someone earning 2k Euro monthly in Europe countries and someone earning that same 2k Euro in Nigeria, The streamers and content creators are now making more than that amount in Nigeria in a month.

So Between the person in the Europe and Nigeria earning same amount, who will enjoy the money most, have value in spending for his earnings

Let's try this again:

In the UK, say, 700 pounds per month for a decent apartment (in Leeds for instance which is up North in the UK) takes 32% of rent. And you get to pay monthly.
Since we're talking just rent, I wouldn't go into details of how feeding, transportation, tax, utility, etc, plays a role in why said nurse can still save 200 pounds...

For Nigeria, I won't be mischievous to do a one-to-one geo mapping by comparing Leeds in the North to Kaduna in Nigeria (where nurses can earn 75k with abeg)...no, I'll do a Lagos to Leeds mapping;

Assume a 250k "plum" nursing job in a Reddington hospital where celebrities come to get treated:
Let's limit to rent;
You will pay 1m yearly rent and total package up to 1.8m for a tiny room in Somolu. And you will pay it yearly. You'll have to beg so they don't ask for a year and six months up front.
I won't go into the fact that you will need to buy foam that you'll spread on the ground and some very small utensils to get your life started... unlike in the UK, where you don't start calling carpenter to take measurements for your wardrobe because you rented.

So you may need nearly 2.5m before you can rent a room in Somolu (I'm sure you know where this is)... meaning you don't get to touch your salary for 10 months before you can get your own small room, with foam on the floor in an environment littered with smoking agberos.

As a nurse with the responsibility of saving lives.

Helinues, does this give you a better perspective? - I see you live abroad.

Would you rather live it, to believe it, here in Nigeria?
