LordAdam already gave a wonderful explanation as to why American jets don't fall inside Iran when shot. The missiles used against them are small and primarily optimized for drones rather than jets. So jets are heavily damaged but not destroyed and able to scurry away after being hit.

A second reason is what WriterNG has said, which is that US jets often fly along the border and coastline. This further improves their chances of quickly leaving once shot.

American and Israeli jets are not flying deep inside Iran or over Tehran, first because they can't. And secondly, because they generally have no reason to. Russia literally fires hypersonic missiles into Ukraine from deep inside Russia. Russia even drops the dumb FAB bombs into Ukraine from Russia.

The US does the same in Iran too. If they need to go into Iran, they use drones instead. Or missiles like Himars or Tomahawks from ships. Generally, everything except jets.

Israel is invading Lebanon. Hezbollah does not man the borders. The useless army that is supposed to defend the entry points in Lebanon is withdrawing from border areas and army positions and allowing Israel to occupy these areas. You can as well say they are inviting Israel to occupy their country.

Despite these, they have not advanced any further than the areas where the cowardly Lebanese Armed Forces have withdrawn from. I was skeptical at first because in my opinion, this is the weakest they have been in years but Hezbollah as the saviour of Lebanon has surpassed my predictions by inflicting heavy losses that the occupation army has stopped reporting casualties on their Northern adventure.

Let me give you a short summary. Hezbollah is not a regular army. It doesn't control the borders. That is the duty of the most cowardly army ever in History (LAF). That means it cannot stop Israel from crossing the border into Lebanon. It's capability is to use asymmetric and guerilla tactics to slow and punish the incursions which is exactly what they are doing. All these while they are being tackled by the LAF and Lebanese government.

● An ambush today destroyed 10 Merkava tanks and two bulldozers.
● Similar ambush on Tuesday destroyed 8 tanks.
● Unlike their defence of Gaza, Hezbollah is now also firing into Central and Southern Israel, including IDF headquarters today.

You can estimate the human and material losses as only a slight headache like the Israelis do

Iranian Ayatollahs are cavemen . Their idea of a war with the west was to dig 500 metres into granite mountain so they can store and fire missiles. They spent decades preparing how to block the straits and damage oil economy of it's neighbors. Not to protect their citizens.
