Zamfara Governor Renovates 24 Hospitals And PHCs To Boost Healthcare by Tabithatim(op): 6:33am On Mar 27

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved billions of naira for the renovation and upgrade of nine General Hospitals and 14 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state. The initiative aims to revamp the health sector in all 14 local government areas.

The 2026 state budget allocates N87 billion to health, prioritizing renovation, expansion, and equipment procurement for key hospitals and PHCs. Nine general hospitals—including Talata Mafara, Gummi, Dansadau, Gusau, and Bungudu—are set for major upgrades, with a total of N1.8 billion earmarked for new medical equipment.

Meanwhile, 14 PHCs across Tsafe, Gusau, Kaura Namoda, Talata Mafara, Gummi, Maru, Bungudu, Shinkafi, Zurmi, Birnin Magaji, Bukkuyum, Anka, Bakura, and Maradun LGAs will undergo renovation and expansion, with allocations ranging from N1 billion to N1.5 billion per facility.

Governor Lawal presented an N861.3 billion budget for 2026, which was later signed into law as N871.337 billion. With 83% dedicated to capital expenditure, the budget emphasizes health, infrastructure, security, education, and agriculture.

Nice one, Mr governor.
Hopefully, there'd be adequately trained personnel to deliver quality health care to the people; and the facilities will be properly maintained.
Most times, our problem is not building and renovation of infrastructure, but maintenance.
More than 70% of the problems of inadequate infrastructure in Nigeria aren't due to a non-availability but dilapidation.
Our maintenance culture needs to improve tremendously.

But tell me, is that supposed to excuse the glaring failure of Peter Obi, who allowed health workers, including doctors, to remain on strike for 13 months?

He didn't even know it's not the responsibility of the FG to provide ambulance services....

Kebbi is another state lacking health to a large extent. I call on the governor there to also prioritize health care and ensure that they create at least visible primary health care facilities that is effective. I remember when I camped there, I just check the settings there. Nobody tell me to run for my life grin

It means vision and transformation.
It means you see something lacking or out of place in society and step in to do something about it.

If a country lacks ambulance services is it out of place for top leadership to create one even if it will neither be funded nor operated by them.

Is the Federal government not trying to create state police. Wil they fund or control it, no. But that is leadership. If they won't move to create ambulance services nationwide, who will.

Remember the only role of government is as an ORGANISER OF SOCIETY.

Your President Trump and Starmer and Macron, etc, you see them going round factories, industries, visiting schools, etc. Do they own them, run them, fund them, no. But the they are responsible for the quality of life of the people they claim to serve.

Oga the US federal government doesn't provide Ambulance services for states
The FG cannot be moving from state to state taking up the responsibilities of the governors, hold your governors responsible.
Just like your messiah you too don't know the functions of the different arms and levels of government.

If Obi becomes president will he be going from state building primary health care centres when the local government ls are there?....
