Hold on bros this lie has to stop forthwith. Zik didn't make any mistake. If anything would be acknowledged as a mistake it was the fact that we weren't ready at thst time. The british created a trap in Lancaster and everyone(Awo inclusive fell for it). In the independence talks in Lancaster in 1956, the british made all the delegates to that talk to sign a document that as a preconditiom for independence, the borders of colonial Nigeria must not be redrawn. That was the first mistake because the british wanted Nigeria to remain as it is because of the french and communist interests in Africa at that time, mind you Nigeria was britain's richest colony after India. As for Ironsi the lie on unitary decree is already becoming stale because Ironsi altered the arrangement of the civil service with the unitary decree by centralizing it, he didn't abolish the regions but change the name from region to a collection of provinces to be managed by a provincial administrator. Again it is worthy to note that what ever put us in this current mess is Gowon's decree 8 which centralized the revenues from all regions to shared back to them based on a revenue sharing formula. He did this to ensure that Ojukwu doesn't lay hands on oil revenues at that time, and he never bothered to reverse tge decision after the war. It is also pertinent to note that at the time of Ironsi's death we still had regions under the control of Military governors.

If there is a referendum today, majority of the Igbos will vote to remain in Nigeria. The first step towards showing seriousness to be independent is to live in your region.

The major agitation of most Igbos is to dominate the power structure of the country, not independence. Before the 2019 elections, Nnamdi Kanu declared there would be no elections in the SE and he was accused by the Igbos of working for Buhari.

The Igbos saw a pathway to Aso rock and were willing to throw Kanu under the bus. The same man they all claim to love now. If Tinubu releases Kanu today, the same suspicion will arise.

Asides the IPOB members trying to rule over the SE through the back door, majority of Igbos would opt to remain in Nigeria.

Stop being mischievous. First of all the 1956 constitution outlawed referendum for secession. It was never an igbo man that removed referendum from the constitution. Adaka Boro was used by Tafawa Balewa to incite trouble in the Eastern region because Boro at that time had no basis to even agitate because we had not even started selling crude oil at that time. The bulk of eastern region's revenue was still from coal in Enugu and oil palms in igbo areas and the calabar oil rivers area. So when Jan 66 happened Boro felt he needed to act since his benefactor was dead, hence he revolted.

Share a copy of the constitution here and point us to where it allowed for levlendoom or shut the bla.
