Okay o... For what I keep seeing happening around me in Nigeria.... I pity men with no discipline over themselves and their partners I have come to realise that more than half of children born out of wedlock are not truly for the men they tie the children to If that test is cheap, many men would like to do it |

pussyphilia:if you father another man's child and the other man come to claim the child after 20 years, DNA will be Done by Nigerian Lagal System (Not your traditional court) and he will take his kid from you Also, if you were to travel to some Countries, DNA is cumpulsory. if you find out after 35 yrs that your son is not Yours...You will not even have the Courage to say what your said above you will be too devastated to even claim him |

judewrites:This statement is beyond your scope of reasoning so just comot mouth from the matter, Igbo culture is very deep and requires a lot of wisdom to understand, women are not permitted to cheat but there could be circumstances where a man is perhaps impotent or have a hereditary medical situation and he must have children, under certain arrangements his wife could be permitted to go out and get pregnant from a man without any defects to have beautiful children in his lineage, you see a man who is a dwarf with hunchback having children that are so tall to play in NBA basketball and nobody will ask questions openly because everyone knows what happened there and if you ever say it openly or doubt his ability to produce those giant children by asking for a DNA Test you could be heavily fined by Umunna. Nkubi the dwarf Nollywood Star wife said that a Doctor asked her why she didn't get pregnant for her husband's brother without dwarfism and the story is posted here on Nairaland. In Igbo land if you have dwarfism you are not permitted to repeat it in your lineage like Nkubi and your family knows what to do for you. This is not meant to disparage the actor |

Guyman02:This are exceptional cases and Igbo and Yoruba cultures respect this arrangement |

OvertheTop:That's why women need to be discreet in such situations. They must not tell the other man who got them pregnant when they want to pin the pregnancy on their husbands. If the impregnator is not aware, there won't be problem in the future. |
| Re: “Avoid DNA Tests” — Odumeje by Abrahills: 12:42pm On Mar 28 |
The bigger picture. These pastors sleep with peoples' wives especially the ones looking for "fruit of the womb" and get many of them pregnant. The unsuspecting husbands of these women will be rejoicing that God has done it not knowing the children are fathered by the pastor. So, what this charlatan is trying to do is to try and work on the thought process of men whose wives are being impregnated by the pastors so they don't go for DNA which could implicate the pastor. I think he is one of those pastors. Every man in his church whose wife was once looking for pregnancy and got pregnant after seeing this man should look for money ASAP and do paternity test on the said child. |

pussyphilia:I understand it from the point of bride price and that is why she still belongs to that family but to say that the child is theirs when you are tracing lineage, I am not sure about that. While the Igbo law determines who a child belongs to for the sake of land, titles, and name, the core idea, the collective responsibility for children is a foundational principle in many African cultures and is often summarized by the famous proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child." In western individualistic cultures, children are often viewed primarily as the responsibility of the nuclear family. "Nwa bụ nwa ọra" (A child belongs to all/the community). This is the same idea that while a child has one father for inheritance, every adult in the community has a duty to look after that child’s well-being. Child ownership is a formal system rooted in patrilineal lineage and the payment of the bride price for the Igbos. Legally and traditionally, fatherhood is defined by marriage rites rather than just biology. If a man has paid the bride price for a woman, any child she bears is considered his child, belonging to his ancestral lineage and entitled to his name and inheritance. Just as, if no bride price is paid, the child traditionally belongs to the mother’s father’s lineage. Again, when a man dies, and she remarries outside the family clan, is the child still the dead man's? |
