aestake:I meant pay, not apply. I didn’t know as well that I needed to pay for the green card thats why I did it so late. After you get your visa, you are meant to pay for your green card on the uscis website. Some people even paid for it already before they left Nigeria, and then it takes about a month for the card to come in the mail (to your US address). Someone put the website up in earlier pages in December thats when I saw it. |

leanonme82:Both the US federal and PA state minimum wages are currently at $7.25, but most entry-level jobs pay well above $15. Most Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Medical Assistant (MA) positions in Pennsylvania, and specifically the Philadelphia area, pay significantly above $15 per hour. Also, stores like Walmart, BJ's, Wawa, ACME, and CVS pay well over $15 for entry-level store associates. |

Ashirioluwa:My bro works at Bojangles , $20 / hr. Part time job as he’s still in school. |

ecomallchemistt:$20 per hour is a good wage for a student. Entry-level jobs frequently pay above the minimum wage due to high demand for labor, labor shortages, and competitive hiring strategies, making the federal minimum wage ($7.25/hr) largely obsolete in many areas. Companies often offer higher wages to attract staff in sectors like retail and hospitality, with many roles paying significantly more than the minimum. |

stacyadams:Lol. Seems some of you don't really understand what minimum wage means....please educate yourself the more. Again, no state pays $17/hr minimum wage.. |
| Re: At The NVC Processing Stage Of The U. S Family Based Preference Category. by Taal17: 3:03pm On Jan 26 |
CutieKing:Actually NY its 17 per hr for NYC , long island and westchester then 16usd elsewhere for 2026. It was 50 cents lower in 2025 |

Ashirioluwa:That is in philadelphia with a much higher cost of living, not in southern states. eg. arkansas, louisiana. etc. Even texas wages are cheaper than philadelphia. Its commiserate to the cost of living. Northeastern states generally pay highest but they have very expensive rent and very competitive jobs due to population density (obviously some states in the west and north too). In the south or midwest, there are jobs that don't even get filled on time, cos not much people, land as far as your eyes can see, theyre begging you to come and buy lots. If you're a business person, you will live like a king in the south. If you're a career person, maybe the dense states are better. |

Good morning everyone, I have carefully observed the trajectory of this forum in recent time and I must say we are beginning to derail from its fundamental purposes, which is basically to support those who are still currently in Nigeria waiting for approvals at USCIS, documents qualification at the NVC and interview stage. Despite the ban please and please we should stick to the purpose. I am suggesting we declare a day of fast every week till something positive happens and whether you are Muslim or Christian it doesn't matter. I need all your support on this. If you are ready I want atleast 10 persons to like this comment in affirmative. Then we can decide on the day of the week. Please note, I am being in the US for approximately 5yrs and this forum was a blessing to me.I am waiting for my wife and kids to join me soon. |

aestake:We run our lives by the word(Bible) and war with prophesy. Prayers can do the impossible only if we are ready to pray. I am a product of miracles. Don't fold hands and expect event to unfold naturally. Life is spiritual. |

aestake:Bros is not good to dismiss people and their beliefs like that. If you were in his position you would hope and pray and believe in anything. When I was in administrative processing last year, there was nothing I didn't do to keep my hopes up. And in my mind it worked wether another person tells me differently or not. |

aestake:I never talked about religion. And what problem might I run into for practicing Christianity in US. Bros abeg rest. There are religious people here too. People fast and pray here too. |

IrepChrist:Did your family get an interview date before the partial ban? If they did then they should attend as usual. Once ban is lifted then visa would be issued. If they didn't then you should still get interview date. Also explore the exemptions in the proclamation if you can use that National Interest Waiver route for case by case exceptions determined by Secretary of State or Secretary of Homeland Services. People who work in say Fed agencies or army/navy/airforce/ national guard might be able explore that as a case Or those in high in demand skills ...its a long shot but its. Finally you might want to explore processing your US citizenship if you haven't already. I know currently adjucation for Nig passport holders in the US is on hold however processing is on going. Once you have citizenship it might speed up the process for your wife and kids despite the ban |

ecomallchemistt:There's nothing to talk about pertaining to immigration at the moment and that's why we were using this medium to share our experiences as new arrivers. Since @Sugadaddy, who happened to post on this thread for the very first time was critical of us sharing our experiences, we have decided to leave the thread for now until there's something tangible to talk about concerning immigration. |
