Especially as all this started happening right after the new rector assumed office:
"Anslem’s death was the third in six weeks since the new Rector, Prof. Salihu Sanusi, assumed office on February 11."
Why are you guys not saying; since the last rector left office? Because that could be it too since you guys want to hold somebody responsible grin

I don't know. Three lecturers in 6 weeks and we're in Africa. I'd say I smell a rat.
Even if na America, people will ask questions.

Did they enlist for Ukraine war?

My brother, I'm a lecturer myself and we recently lost a colleague. People don't understand the pressures involved. They think it's all fun and games. May his soul rest in peace
it is not easy to teach especially under the condition we find ourselves in Nigeria right now. A lot of family responsibilities hanging on people's necks

Yes ooo ,some will teach full time students and those part time students too and will still go to private school too
But it's not as if they're digging ditches. I don't think teaching what you already know will kill anybody. Gotta be something else

You actually have a point. Didn't look at it that way. Could be the guy who just left has something to do with it. Hmmm

Ukraine war? What has Ukraine war to do with anything?

In a war, frequent deaths is expected. That's what I'm saying.

Since the lecturers didn't enlist for the war, three men dying in a few weeks has to raise eyebrows anywhere.

Africans! First thing we think of is juju and viodoo. Other climes would focus on what physically caused it - and they would find the cause and develop a cure.
Left to us we'd still be doing all sorts of human sacrifice to cure covid!

Could be. Only an autopsy can tell. But honest autopsy, not the wayo type autopsy you're likely to get here!

Positive service too. Not the type of active service we usually see - on a hotel bed!

Reminds me of when we lost four lecturers in my faulty back in School within the space of a semester.
Dr Ekaette ,Dr Obed,Dr Akachi and one other .They had to organise emergency prayers for the us.

Two of them were newly promoted before their deaths.
Some used relocation as excuses to leave and never returned.

Forget titles and Degrees, most of them are fetish and devilish.

Rest in peace to the deceased.
4 lecturers within a senester! And some people try to say it's all about HBP and heart attacks. There's obviously something going on that's beyond our normal normal

A few weeks ago, the Head of Service where my wife works made it compulsory for all staff to undergo a health screening, which was fully sponsored by them. During the process, one of her colleagues discovered that she was pregnant, even though she was still breastfeeding her six month old baby.

What am I trying to say? Many people are living with underlying health conditions without even knowing it. Institutions should take the initiative to organise free health screenings, especially since many of them already have health departments. This would go a long way in saving lives.
You are sooo right!!
The number of deaths it would prevent eh!
But wait o. Pregnant while breastfeeding a six-month-old? Meaning it'd be a year between the children. Actually not unheard of

The harsh economic conditions in Nigeria will make you think less of your health and make one focus on how to make ends meet
Soo true.
Going to the doctor for check up when there's nothing wrong with you. Kind of unheard of in these parts

If men avoid carbonated and alcoholic beverages, their bodies will fix themselves in a few months. Sadly, we have been taught from childhood that consuming green and brown bottles is a manly trait. My old man has drunk at least one bottle of beer every night since I was conscious of my environment. My mother said he was the same way before they married — he was 20 at the time. That he’s lived a complete life and more still baffles me. It won’t shock me if he one day “slumps to death.” That aside, do something physical with yourself at least once a week. Nature did not make a mistake programming your body. Modern life makes us soft, weak and prone to dropping dead at a moment’s notice. Build a strong body and your mind will follow. Avoid sugar and alcohol; they are poison. Don’t go seeking bitter food, moderate whatever you eat right now.
Very good write-up.
But na wa o. So much effort just to stay alive and well. Some of us just want to chill. But no, you must "do something physical"! cheesy

Well said sir!

The further you are away from nature, the closer to death.

Nature doesn’t cheat.

We are born of nature and should align with it

Moderate exercise , social interactions, drink water, rest well..

Some people can lock themselves indoors for days without coming out to see sunshine or stretch their bodies, they are dying slowly
But how do you "get close to nature" here in Lagos?

Six months is even long. I've heard of women who mistakenly took in after three weeks of putting to bed.
